Everyone is cheering and stuff over what MS done and now is rumored to do. I feel like these moves are mistakes. It's like people have closed minds and don't wan to even consider new ideas/ gameplay options.

I know it's like people like owning games and having options wtf?

Lol Microsoft backpedaling so much. I can't believe people want to jump in when they don't even know what they want to do with the system.

I would be really dumb for MS to remove the Kinect IMO.

Highly doubt they are removing it from the SKU. What they are likely doing is just having an option to satisfy people who think it's always watching them or their kids 24/7 to turn it off and game without it on the console as that's still a concern.

They still want to push it as a tech with widespread adoptation so no doubt they will still include it in the box. Just have it not mandatory to use it constantly and puts the user more in control of it.

And hey, if you really don't want it. Gamestop will probably take it off you for a few bucks.

I can't believe MS has removed everything that makes the XB1 unique. Not saying it was stuff I wanted, but believe it or not there were people who wanted the system based on what it had a few weeks ago. This is amazing.

You don't actually believe this, do you?

But is the Kinect still bundled?

nvm:
".@Xbox confirms NO #XboxOne price drop due to NO kinect requirement. #XboxOne is "competitively priced" & xbox is "confident with the value."

Probably no SKU without the Kinect

Meaningless unless they release the console without kinect for cheaper (say, $399 or less).

STILL do not want to pay $100 for a piece of shit that I hate.

Usually 10 million head start gives significant advantage. PS3 was actually a very weird surprise for everyone since it actually caught up with it.

WiiU on the other hand....

360 had rrod issues and they still got it over ps3. It had to have some kind of value that people still wanted that specific system.

Aesthetically speaking I can imagine that most parents would not want that shit on their tv or in front of the tv all the time or to have to get it out of the drawer just to turn the xbox on.

Yes. A very small minority compared to a large majority who wants a DRM-less, Kinect-less cheaper Xbox One.

Basically a suped up Xbox 360.

it was "more powerful" last gen too and people still chose 360.

It is not remotely the same. We aren't talking about some theoretical performance after the developer jumps through a ton of hoops and programs to the metal. The PS3 had inferior 3rd party games in most cases, sometimes vastly so.

The PS4 is pretty much the same exact hardware setup as XBOne, just better. Simply better

I'll be waiting too of course, but my reasoning would be to gauge multiplatform game performance. A major reason why I chose the 360 back in January 2009 was because Bayonetta ran better on it.

I don't even need to wait on that. Unless developers are functionality retarded, all multiplatform games should be better on PS4. PS4 is significantly more powerful than Xbox One, and Xbox 360 was pretty much even on balance with the PS3 (maybe PS3 slightly better, but negated by much more difficult development environment). Not only that, PS4 is extremely easy to develop for and Sony is provided unparalleled level of system support, and pretty much every developer from indies up to the big boys say the environment is like night and day.

So unless there is just no effort at all into a PS4 multiplatform game, it is going to have the best version of everything next-gen.

Now, I might truly get this box pending the exclusives and price drops. I am super paranoid about a camera being actively on (at least with my Macbook, I see a big-ass green light telling me when my camera is in use). Plus I don't live in an environment where a Kinect will be at all useful.

I think they may be removing the always on for Kinect
Would be a smart move but they need to realllly market this because I think a lot of people relate the device to "spying" already.

If they're removing the Kinect connection, it will end up killing much of their work on Kinect integration. Basically MS would be torpedoing their entire business plan to dominate that living room.

I don't need to believe it. Its fact. I can point you to threads on this very forum from people who are severely disappointed with the XB1 removal of features. I am NOT one of them but guess what? Not everyone feels the way you do (believe it or not).

JUST PRICE IT AT $399 AND KEEP THE KINECT INCLUDED BUT NOT REQUIRED TO FUNCTION AND BE DONE WITH THIS ALREADY. YOU CAN AFFORD IT, MICROSOFT.

This whole Xbone is a super advanced jedi fucking mind trick

now with the inevitable $399 they keep fueling the positive news cycle and somehow end ahead of PS4. Genius!

they removed a feature ? where ?
all im seeing is a removed requirement for a camera, everybody thought spied on them.
i dont get why people spin this into negativity
He meant they've previously removed features (family sharing, game switching etc) and now this in addition (if true, which I doubt it is, just some PR person not knowing their stuff most likely and given the way it has been handled so far that's not too hard to believe).

Well Microsoft said the cloud made XBONE like what 40 times faster? If that's even half true then XBONE packs in more power than PS6 without a cloud.

ROFL - For your sake I hope you only say this because you want to make the xbone look better and not acutally believe this...

edit: it seems to be the former - lol

That would make it officially better than PS4.

You are a fanboy if I ever have seen one...

Countless millions spent on research and development...talking about the deep Kinect connectivity...Clearly their vision for the future is falling apart around them...Blind panic.

This really is a console without a vision anymore. I can't buy into that. And fortunately, I don't need to.

Debatable. But the performance gap is huge compared to last gen.

We don't actually know that yet. Yes, we've seen some leaked specs but we still don't know if the performance gap is really that large in the real world.
Didn't the MGS guy say that the gap is small?

it was "more powerful" last gen too and people still chose 360.

It was less capable or more capable depending on the ability and experience of the developer.
The PS4 is a straightup Xbone Turbo.

Wow, it's like a totally different company! They must really appreciate their customers. No way would they lure in a bunch of customers only to screw them over as hard as they can!

If this is true, so... what was the "vision" from Microsoft?

This would only confirm that they weren't prepared AT ALL for launching 2013 and they only respond to Sony's launch on february.

And now they are working blindly and they don't know what to do.

All the bullshit about "all in one"? GONE

All the bullshit about the "infinite power of the cloud"? GONE

All the work from their engineers making a new environment? GONE

And what we have? A much less powerful next gen console with NOTHING appealing on it.

Does anyone else allow the train of thought that since nobody else with a shred of credibility has picked up on this that it is a load of horse shit?

This would be nice (minus the shouting). I want the Kinect bundled. I want real support for it. Even optional features. if the Kinect is there, this will happen, if not, it will never be fully supported.

SWEET! This was my last deal-breaker. (Price is not an issue, I bought a PS3 for $600 at launch and I haven't regretted it, but I still don't want to pay for a Kinect).

Now I'm just hoping they offer a Kinect-less bundle. If not maybe I'll just buy an used console w/o it.
