Forza 5 will require a day 1 free DLC download

Since you claim nothing will last forever, there is no difference between SP or MP portion.
You bought it but got nothing because they do not let you play anymore.

No sure what you are saying tbh, but so far single player games do last for as long there is a console to play them on, but in this case I would loose both MP and SP, I guess I just cannot accept that.

Based on the IGN reports, it is much like the disc content won't be complete as Turn 10 would deliver before got MS game release validation process passed.

So the game content will be supplemented through Day 1 free DLC, just like GT5 in 2010.

It is FAR FROM you need to patch your game to play. Don't know why people still argue some highly extreme condition to discredit them.

Read the article again, it is required.

It's nothing like GT5 in 2010. That patch was only mandatory for on-line functionality.

He wasn't 100% sure you'll be able to do it, but assuming he's right I wonder how much the game will let you play after logging in until it needs the DLC.

This falls in with the murmurings that Microsoft is behind on development on a lot of their software.

At this point, I would bet that ALL launch titles are running in various states of "behind schedule" and countless developers will be sacrificed in the coming months in order for all launch games to actually come out on time.

Required content to experience "FULL" FM5.
Because they aren't complete in the disc. It is simple.

I checked again, this is a direct quote from the IGN article "However, it will require a one-time connection to Xbox Live before you can play." So it is a requirement, I guess it will just download that in the background while playing.

Wow, what a bullshit move. Incomplete game on the disc...

Man I posted a reasonable question on the forza forums about it and got ripped a new hole by half their mod squad...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised they have already passed the kool aid around...

Whats the big deal.... Anyone getting an xbox one has to be online when they start it up anyways. The amount of pointless hate in this thread... lol

Looks like it's not required after all.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/18/forza-motorsport-5-install-offline-details-clarified

As IGN originally reported, Forza Motorsport 5 will not require a persistent online connection to play – unless of course you're in multiplayer modes such as Rivals or online racing, or doing cloud Drivatar training or downloading user-generated content such as paint schemes. However, Turn 10's Dan Greenawalt told us today that being be required to connect to Xbox Live before you can play is "not the plan." You just need to connect online eventually in order to complete the career mode.

More at the link.

But it is required if you want the full game. The retail disc doesn't contain all the data and assets to play the full game.

If you don't download the day-one DLC and play offline, you'll get to a point in the single player mode where the game requires non-optional data that isn't on the disc. Like playing FF VII and it asking for disc 2, which you don't have.

The only thing that has been clarified is you can play the chunk of the game that's on disc, rather than not being able to play anything until the downloaded content had been installed.

As long as it's clearly and obviously marked on the box that this is the case, I don't have a problem w/ it.

If it's not evident, and people can go home w/ the game not knowing they must get online to play the whole thing, than that's shitty.

M$ is still are shipping an incomplete game!!!1111

But that is still true. How can you argue it's not?

It's just been clarified you can play what chunk of the game is on the retail disc, but will get to a point when you need to download the missing data,

Seems dangerous to do this to squeeze out a few week of extra dev time. This being the marquee first party game at launch it has a lot riding on it. If the download/activation has even a small hitch it will be bedlam. It has to go perfect for this to work. After watching Diablo 3 and Sim City I would be wary of making that gamble.

So IGN continues to troll for clicks with shit articles.

This is kinda like GT5 then. Playable without the update but not complete.

welp.. I meant it when I said my issue was with the fact that the disc was supposedly not going to function without that additional DLC. Be it a Turn 1

0 or a misunderstanding, I've re-submitted my pre-order on Amazon with this news.

So kinda like Forza 4? If you didn't install the 2nd disc you could still play through the the game, albeit an incomplete one. Sucks that you'd have to download that remaining chunk, but oh well.

Let's be clear here. A lot of the complaints in this thread was made regarding the possibility of the game being unplayable upon purchase. That's no longer the case. This is the best solution available apart from missing the launch date entirely, which, in case you're wondering, is out of the question.

So what happens to the people that buy this day 1 but has no internet connection?
Take a guess, my friend.

hahhaah oh man

I honestly feel pretty shitty for those without net; enjoy purchasing a game that sounds like it won't function without a "patch".

edit: I see, shit IGN article as usual.
