Seems the "Beta tested in the future" slogan was true after all.
At this point I feel like buying an xbox one at launch is literally like throwing 500 dollars in the toilet and flushing
that would be really disappointing if true, i would hope ms would smarten up when it comes to rrod scenarios, i dont want sony or ms to have f'ed up heating issuesI don't know about that... the possible RROD like scenario hinted at by CBOAT doesn't sound to enticing...
He posts positive stuff sometimes of course, but I think people get annoyed with his teasing attitude toward negative info. I get the feeling he doesn't like his company very much (assuming he works for MS).
Seriously considering canceling this now.. Seeming like a worse and worse value proposition every day.
Oh and regarding the "more powerful console" talk, has the more powerful console ever been much cheaper than the weaker console before, because that's a huge factor here.
What the name of the movie?
How would he know about this? He must be speculating. Considering the specific tings he got wrong at Gamescon and E3, he can't be particually high up in the company. So how would he know potential resolution for games? Forza is 1080p/60fps, the only current AAA game on either company currently hitting that.
Unfortunaly nothing stops this train, going to be a bumpy ride for MS.
cboat apart, 1080p not a rule sounds obvious to me, and I think PS4 will have alot games sub FullHD too.
About upclock, I honestly don't see how the modest gains may compromise the hardware, unless the hardware had issues with original cloks.
If Sony don't make a good product no one buys it. This isn't oil distribution. There's no monopoly in consumer products, just short term popularity bursts.
It could have been something they read that gave them a false impression that they'd have way more time.
Never forget--January 22, 2013:

...
It's quite possible that Microsoft believed they'd always be first, and always have the first-mover advantage, so they took thier time.
Also, it's quite clear that too many executive "cooks" got into the proverbial kitchen during the planning stages, (this often happens when you have too much time on your hands and too many ancillary "voices" being piped into the conversation, as anyone who has worked on a large project with a lot of people will tell you,) and the whole thing became a convoluted mess of nebulous market end-goals, too few of which had to do with core gaming and too many of which had to do with TV, Advertising, Kinect, and DRM. So Microsoft was likely unfocused on the core of the box, and busy coming up with all this other shit, all this DRM tech, all this Kinect shit, all these media deals and advertising pitches...
...meanwhile, Sony had their heads down and were working on a pretty focused core set of principles--the ones we've been hearing over and over from Cerny concerning the hardware.
In all seriousness, even if the XBO could only do 720p, I don't see it affecting sales. The mainstream doesn't care - not everyone has a +46" TV to play on. I feel much of this debate is the equivalent of boys measuring themselves
I'm pretty sure MS has...which is why he stays silent for so longHas anybody done much research into who CBOAT could be?

You have a fair point, but to us that are really passionate, a lower resolution IS a big deal. And not because of some stupid "console wars", but a higher resolution produces a sharper image, and that's important to many of us.
With 176GB/sec memory bandwidth and twice the fill rate of xbox one?
If a dev can't make their games 1080p on a hd 7850 they should just fucking give up and go flip burgers.

A few people have an idea who he could be but it wouldn't be advisable to pursue that for obvious reasons.
No it doesn't, deferred rendering has larger frame buffers than whatever the old method was called (lol sorry I don't remember the name) It's not unusual for framebuffers with deferre rendering to hit 40-55mb without AA and up to 150mb with AA.

A very small percentage of the market in general, I imagine.
Its not about one thing. It is about whole.
Several US sellers said that PS4 preorders are much higher than Xbones. In US where Xbox360 sold almost twice as PS3. People simply know. Hardware is just one of things.
Without 180 you would be watching now train-wreck incoming at high speed. Thanks to 180 they motivated ton of people but still stink is there.
Thanks guys
What if developers don´t have the money or man power to pull a native 1080p?
True. Microsoft's problem were the price and DRM issue, not so much the hardware's capabilities - that is what impacted pre-orders. This debate about console power, however, is another thing altogether.
Were the Xbox One to drop in price tomorrow to 399, everything would change

Keep it wrapped, sell in 20 years.
Power is something only enthusiasts really care about, but price is something everyone cares about at least at some point
If he is right with reliability issues etc why didn't MS just focus on 2014? I mean the PS3 was able to go toe to toe with the 360 for units sold despite being late.
Not getting an Xbone but really hope they don't screw up like the rrod. Don't wish that on any gamer...
I swear it's getting to the point where a powerful console with no games could be released and this form would sing its praises based on a spec sheet. It's oneupsmanship to the ridiculous extreme.
So they spent 1 billion USD in games, 400 million in the NFL dead, and 100 million making the controller.
Microsoft isn't letting their living room machine die, especially not when they're now using it to push Windows Phone, and their own Music and Video platform.
Besides, I'm willing to bet that even if the PS4 outsells the Xbox One, the Xbox One will STILL be the more profitable device.
