This guarantees we wont see Ninty's Zelda until 2015.

Graphics need work, but I'd imagine it is very early into the process.

Never heard of Dynasty Warriors, but I like what I've seen from the teaser. Some thoughts

This probably means we're getting Zelda U in 2015. I'm assuming that work on the game has picked up since Zelda 3DS has been released, and it wouldn't make sense to release two Zelda games at the same time.

I wonder if this game will be canon? Are Dynasty Warrior games story heavy? I can see this game covering giant war battles, filling in holes in the timeline. Although this might pose a problem with certain characters being available.

The game is clearly combat heavy, which the Zelda series have not been since probably the first 3 games. Less puzzles and more action I say.

Not worried about the graphics, I'm sure they will be worked on. I'm excited for this new take on Zelda.

Pretty sure Omega Force is literally the only Musou dev team at this point. Which is a good thing because, you know, they're great developers.

Omega Force didn't make Shin Hokuto Musou/Fist Of The North Star: Ken's Rage 2, and it shows. Was pretty disappointed with it compared to the first. Can't remember if they worked on the first One Piece game or not.

I got to disagree with Gundam Muso being good. GM 1 still has easily the best Original Mode in the series, but the gameplay is very basic and almost bad.

However they have made HUGE strides since then and they have gotten better with each release to the point GM3 is a legit fun and good game.

Sadly the Original Modes still can't touch GM1.

Maybe Shin Gundam Musou will be better- it comes out Thursday. Will be the first Gundam Musou I've played since the original.

This isn't really true at all.

Depending on when DWZ ships we could see Zelda U the same year. Just as we saw WWHD and ALBW this year.

That said, I don't think Zelda U will happen until 15, but this plays very little into that.

I won't know. I refuse to give them money for how much they shitting all over every single AU in order to give SEED and Destiny a full Story Mode.

Shit like X, AGE, Turn A is one thing. However Wing, 00, and G should easily have the same amount of content as SEED. Wing and OO even more so given the content and characters are pretty much already there from GM3.

I think it looks like it could be a lot of fun. I'm interested to see what some Nintendo quality control can do for Koei. Think of it as an experiment.

Good-to-a-musou-fan good or actually good?

I haven't got a clue. These games are always ridiculed to no end by western audiences for being apparently hilariously terrible. Doubt that would happen if they were actually great games to the majority of gamers.

Of course, you as a musou fan shouldn't give a fuck about the preference of the majority. It must be like all your birthdays have come at once today if you really love Zelda and love DW.

To be fair, I personally think the musou game that are legit good/great games by any standard are the Sengoku Basara games by Capcom. But the better Koei games are pretty good games for what they set out to accomplish.

I'm not even a huge fan of the genre, but I get the impression the main reason westerners shit on musou is it isn't their repetitive, homely-looking, feel-good violence mashing of choice like Call of Duty. If they were first person and you were mowing down 500 guys at once with a chain gun, but the visuals and depth were otherwise the same, a ton of people would be all over that shit and calling it awesome.

Look up any video on youtube on Dynasty Warriors. They're all essentially the same.

and yet square's been able to consistently release great titles this gen? excluding FFXIII? Deus Ex? Sleeping Dogs? Just Cause? Tomb Raider? XIV:ARR? TWEWY? none of these games are valid to you? lol

that's not a good answer.

You realize FFXIII is widely hated here? (Though I agree it isn't a bad game)

There are tons of people that are highly skeptical of Square-Enix now after FFXIII and it's sequels. You'd have to be out of touch to not see that.

yeah the Samurai and Dynasty titles has some pretty good lore/story in it for historical fiction titles. I think Zelda Musou could be good as a canonical title but people would be pissed OFF

notice how I said, excluding XIII.

Does anyone really expects ZeldaU for 2014?
Best case: December 2014 eshop exclusive. Retail in January
Present! "really" is not the word for me, I just think it's possible.

We have that Aonuma's quote about a 3 years dev cycle for the main entries (I have to find it and bookmark it one day), so SS was 2011... The dev cycle for ALBW was broken in two parts (see the Iwata asks) and TWWHD was only made because it was possible under a year without the whole staff. Also served as tech tests. And Miyamoto told there was a chance to be shown at E3 last year but decided otherwise (maybe it's PR talk BS).

So, some clues it makes me think it's possible. I will not bet a single € on it, though, because Nintendo really have hard times with HD and software planning.

Why....?

I don't get why they would associate one of the best brands in all of video games with mindless trash like Dynasty Warriors.

Nintendo must be really desperate.

The DW series is good. The gameplay has changed quite a bit since the PS2 era. I bought DW: Gundam 2 on a whimafter not playing since the PS2 era and was surprised by how much better the combat was and all the little nods to the franchise it had in.

The Pirate Warriors game also manage to get the feel of the characters in the One Piece franchise better than almost every other game based on that property.

These Musou spin-offs aren't quick cash grabs. The mainline series and Warriors Orochi have apparently improved even more.

I think people should be more worried about the possibility that Link might have to say more stuff besides "Hyah!" and "Ahhhhh!"

There is a TON of voice-acting in the Dynasty Warrior entries. Link staying a mute throughout is going to feel extremely weird.

Hell, now that I think about it, voice-acting is a very new and strange thing to the Zelda franchise. I wonder how Koei/Nintendo is going to work it out.

Ganon will most likely be this game's Lu Bu.

And will probably be playable too.

Doubtful. Lu Bu always shows up early on in the DW games.

Why? Its Zelda. Stories were virtually non-existent until the more recent games. Even then they usually aren't the focus.

And canon-wise we have games like Four Swords which is a multiplayer addon to a handheld port made by Capcom, and people don't complain about that.

Let's be honest, it's Eidos/SE Europe that keeps Square Enix afloat these days. Square's own japanese studios (ie the real square enix we've always known) have been a massive disappointment this gen.

This is what has me excited the most. If this does get VA'd we could finally see a voice acted Zelda, and I will finally get into the franchise again.

Complete bullshit.

Square's Japan studio has produced several highly received games both critically and sales wise.

The only thing that has happened was a they had Rebuild XIV and recycle XIII to have some sort of console presence.

Lol at much of this thread. If you don't like Musou games doesn't mean that Zelda has hit rock bottom. Also lol at "Bu bu I like Zelda for the dungeons" Well, I present you the term "Spin-off"

I love Dynasty Warriors so gimme.

I am pretty sure Link's story mode (if there are multiple characters) will have him mute, with some side character making the plot exposition.

Although you make a good point, this could be the first time Zelda characters have actual voiced lines, given the series.

I meant more in terms of challenge. I don''t know if this will follow the same patterns as the other musou games.

it's sad that people hold SE Japan on such a pedigree higher than it's much more capable Europe division and literally refuses to associate the two with each other.
still, other than the FFXIII titles, i'm gonna disagree with sE Japan being a 'disappointment' last gen. I mean, consider this; we did get XIV and a lot of stellar handheld titles.

Forget that, what worries me is that no one did anything (not even Link) while King Dodongo was there just standing mouth wide open.

it's extremely likely that the footage was on an easier difficulty to display the scale of the game. that's what Tecmo does with all of it's musou promo titles.

also it's early footage

Ah well, I love Zelda, and love Samurai Warriors. If you can play as someone other than Link, I'll pick it up. It'd be cool if it followed an original story with original characters.

It was probably being played on novice or easy, like any other official Musou gameplay (or PV) video from Koei. Why do they do this? I honestly have no idea.

Well non-officers rarely attack in Dynasty/Samurai warriors games anyway, unless you are playing on the hardest difficulty.

I just need a few things to make me buy, online co-op, probably a long shot, and a lot of characters with nice move sets. I want to play as virtually any race/character in hyrule history, not just Link.

Yeah Aomura said a while back they were thinking of adding voice acting. What better way to test the waters than a spin-off?

Anyway count me in the "Never played DW, looking forward to giving this a try" camp. I just hope we can see other playable characters.

Skyward Sword Artstyle? Check
Multiple Swords/Shields and (probably) other visual upgrades? Check
Magic? SICK!
A scarf? A FUCKING SCARF!

Link should never be without a scarf or cloak again. Ever.

Well not just that, but during the battles themselves. There's almost always somebody talking whether it's "Dammit! Somebody capture that base!" or "Another enemy officer crumbles!" and so on and so on. Defeating 1,000 enemies and not hearing Link yell out "I am a true warrior of the Hyrule Kingdom!" is going to sting a bit.

If Koei threw in characters from other Zelda games the possibility of fan-service conversations would be mind-blowing.

You can't really say this is the SS Artstyle. The heavy use of Cell Shading has been drastically reduced. It's most definitely the SS design, but the style on link is much closer to that of TP then SS.
