So apparently you have to keep the Amazon Downloader running to be able to launch the game.

Huh, I don't think this is true for all Amazon games. I don't recall having to keep it open while playing some of the other games I bought from them like Call of Juarez.

Yeah, well, when I try to launch Daemonica a screen comes up that says "buy the game or click here if you've bought it", else it does not run. Clicking "here" launches the downloader and then the game runs normally.

Tiny & Big: Grandpa's Leftovers for $4 at GMG. Worth it?

It's not very long. But i very much enjoyed it. If you've ever had fun just messing around with physics in games, it'll definitely be up your street.

The game has a nice vibe from it too, with a very interesting soundtrack supplied by a handful of indie artists. It also reminded me of a surreal 90s cartoon at times, like ren and stimpy i guess.

I bought it day one and was happy with it anyway.

Kingdoms of Amalur is $10 on GMG, $8 with GMG20-1FYLZ-EDG8R. Origin activation only -- says US & Canada so I'm unsure of availability in other countries.

Not Steam obviously but posted it here because I know a lot of people have expressed interested in a sale regardless.

EDIT: Thanks for the heads up reminder about the sale, Issacard.

No problem.

I think Tony's finally gotten that list up guys, check it out here and here.

Some of these are already live, MAKE SURE THEY ACTIVE ON STEAM/ARE STEAM KEYS BEFORE YOU BUY.

Edit:
Too much stuff on that list that either doesn't activate on Steam, or does and isn't clear enough about it (stuff in packs). Such a mess at this point, needs some clarification. I'm trying to clean it up for what is 100% certain atm, will post and then keep updating as info on whether it is Steam or not is updated.

Is this going to be their "big" winter sale? It's going to be my first.

It'll probably a sampler more than anything: expect a bunch of daily deals, but not discounts on practically the entire catalogue: that will be saved until December. Prepare your wallet, because for PC gamers December is Sale month.

Is this going to be their "big" winter sale? It's going to be my first.

Black Friday sale and Winter sale are not the same.

The big Steam sales are the Summer Sale and the Winter Sale. The "lower grade" Store-wide Steam sales are the Autumn (Halloween) sale, which is more aimed at Horror/Terror games, and the Thanksgiving (Black Friday) sale, which is like a taste of the actual Winter sale.

They're not as massive as the big sales, but they're getting bigger IMO. Thanksgiving Sale is supposed to happen in the last half of this month (last year it started on the 23rd, on a Wednesday).

If this is your first Winter Sale, be prepared for madness come December. If you were around for the Summer Sale, it's usually bigger than that. I'll also quote myself once again:

Steam Sales Rules:

1) Only buy games on Daily Deals
2) Wait until the last day of the sale to buy a game you want that wasn't featured on a daily deal.
3) If a deal looks too good to be true, take it. It probably is a mistake. (see rule 4)
4) Secret rule number 4: 75% off is a good enough discount, it'll probably never get more discounted than that. The only scenario where it'll get cheaper is when the regular price drops outside of a sale and then it goes for 75% off again on the next sale.

Special Autumn Sale considerations:

Daily Deal prices might not be repeated on the Winter (Christmas) sale, so rule number 1 still applies. However, it has happened before.

Regular non-daily discounts will likely either be repeated or topped on a daily featured sale in the Winter (Christmas) sale. Since that is only weeks away, rule number 2, "wait until the last day of the sale", actually means "wait until the last day of the xmas sale".

Errors still happen, so if a newish game is listed at 75% off when the sale comes up or the daily deals refresh, you might want to buy it. It's probably a mistake.

Some mac titles might active on Steam if it's Steamplay.

This logic was applied to a different scenario and should also work here

Actually no. For some reason, 38 Studios has control over the Steam version, and since they don't exist anymore, it will be $60 forever.

Doesn't the state have control of them now? Theoretically Valve could get in touch and tell them the benefits. But who are we kidding? Valve's probably too smart to try and waste time with a bureaucracy, since, well, they're a bureaucracy.

Well at least Test Drive Unlimited is going on sale.

Not sure whether to get the first game or the second one. Played through the first (on 360) but I heard the second was a pile.

EDIT: Also from what I've read TDU1's servers are down so the game is essentially broken. In fact it's apparently so bad it can't even run single-player.

Well fuck.
