The TTK is only long if you suck. Isn't your favorite gametype Swat? Not surprising.
That game doesn't sound like it would be much different from H3.
ADS affecting spread?
Yeah we are going to complain once this beta comes out.
I live in EU and I can 4-shot consistently in H4 and kinda in H3. Where you live doesn't matter. EU players get EU hosts, NA players get NA hosts (most of the time).Problem is, for anyone living outside the US, its almost double the length. Hence why SWAT is better for us. It negates the lag massively.
Although even without lag, its too long in Halo 2 and 3. CE is probably the best compromise.
The devs confirmed that the SMG spread is tightened when ADS.
Gears of War. And it was quite popular. Not as long as Halo's, but longer than the average. Not if the long TTK is still there.
Funny how not many seem to forget that the one thing that hasn't changed in Halo is the TTK. Halo 5 could be Halo 2 with Halo 5 visuals and the MP wouldn't be that much more popular because the TTK is still too long in this franchise.
It's the main reason you'll never see Halo be as popular as it once was. Name me another major online console shooter with a TTK anywhere near as long as Halo's.
Dude I live in the middle east and I can enjoy it just fine. And believe me, our connections suck cartman's balls.Problem is, for anyone living outside the US, its almost double the length. Hence why SWAT is better for us. It negates the lag massively.

Do you have a source for that?
So broadly the damage is the same. Can you give me an example of a behavioural change between hip-fire and Smart Scope?
Tim Longo: Spread. Spread of bullets.
Josh Holmes: For example, the SMG, which you might have used, when you free-fire it, it has a very wide spread. When you go into Smart Scope there's a slight narrowing of the spread.
343 is in a catch 22, if they make the same game as Halo 3 or Halo 2 (witch is what the vocal minority of people wanted) they will cry foul and say its a re-hash.
... Have they already been taken down? Boo.
Josh Holmes: The difference between the two is minimal. Part of the challenge there has been to make sure you're not forcing people to go into Smart Scope in order to be effective. We want to make sure players can use the AR, for example, free-fire, and be just as effective as when they go into Smart Scope.
Tim Longo: Something like the DMR, other than zoom there aren't any changes.
Josh Holmes: With the BR, I know they've tuned it so when you're free-fire it's the same as zoom-in. It's been a journey as we've gone through so many different iterations of tuning.

The longer TTK is one of the reasons why I love this franchise's MP. Without it, it becomes who sees who first game, and that's terrible.

Just make sure this game is on dedicated servers for the beta 343
I'll see the rest for myself afterwards.
I really hope map alternates are not being counted as the 7 playable maps
I should have been more specific, first person shooter. Sorry.
As to your connection? Obviously Australia is far worse than most of the other developed nations then. Even on dedicated servers, I try connect to the West US servers on Titanfall sometimes and I get lag almost as if it were P2P.
Internet just sucks so bad down here. Doesn't mean there aren't great Halo players, there are. I know a few personally. I'm not a great Halo player, but I'm not terrible either. I'm just a LOT better at SWAT.
I believe Halo 5 will be 100% Dedicated Servers with no p2p option (or fallback) simply because of how the Spectator Mode works and was described. It would be impossible to do with p2p connections. Some of the way it works was described in the most recent Bulletin: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/bulletins/the-bulletin-episode-4
Ok that outdoors Midship looks great.
Please be true!
I just hope that get the act together and lets us choose the datacenter like titanfall. I dont care about the ranks, I just want the option to play in my region with the least amount of lag/latency possible.
I haven't played Reach, but I thought the argument at hand was that ADS didn't give any bonuses to aim, etc over non ADS. But the article clearly suggest that ADS gives you a reduced bullet spread which is a bonus compared to hip firing.
oh 343... no option to choose the datacenter ffs!!!! Why??

The Halo community can be one of the most incredibly close minded groups on the planet. To give so much flak for something like the sprint mechanic is ludicrous.
God forbid 343 actually try and make meaningful changes and evolve the series a bit let alone add absolutely basic mechanics like sprint in the game...
I hope so too, if not then I hope the Matchmaking systems connects to a Datacenter with the lowest ping. With Titanfall, two Datacenters would fluctuate. Sometimes East US would have the lowest ping and other times Central US would have the lowest ping. Whatever way they choose to do it, I hope it always connects to a Server with the lowest ping 100% of the time.
how have you discerned this from those 3 screenshots...
Can you see it there?
Ok, I am hoping for a titanfall type of setup.
The former should certainly take priority, but it's nice when we can have both. :IFun > Immersion.
I get 47ms to the western europe datacenter in titanfall..... Bliss!! We should get the choice! But this is 343 we are talking about. I'm not getting my hopes up.
The thing is, with ranking, it will cast the net wide in order to find similar ranked players. For you it should be ok seeing as the biggest player pool is in the US.. For everyone else though.
Great, another EXP. based ranking system.
there are a lot of things i can't see on that one menu screen, which is my point.
