Black Ops 3 pre-orders are significantly higher than Advanced Warfare

I'm tempted to get this, the last CoD I played was MW and I've skipped the entire COD-Generation...I don't have anything against COD I just wasn't really interested..but I want a shooter and I'll take basically anything at this point.

This has definitely got a lot of bang for your buck.

Honestly, for $60, they have crammed a lot of shit in there. This is probably the most feature packed COD yet.

It's there an equivalent of getting the digital deluxe which is cheaper and includes the season pass, but with the physical game?

Kinda. If you ever shop at best buy, they'll give you $10 back in rewards points 2-3 weeks after the game ships if you preorder it. And if you buy the game and season pass together, you get $5 off the pass. It's more of a no-brainer if you're a gamers club unlocked member, 'cause then you get 20% off of the game itself too.

I thought Blops 1 was god tier - everything about it was so fun and remains so.
Black Ops 2 was kind of strange for me. I thought the game itself was fun, except for the maps. The maps kind of ruined it for me.

To explain:

I'm a huge fan of Search and Destroy. Its like a more accessible Counter Strike to me. Blops 1 maps were perfect for S&D. They were usually pretty big, with lots of multi-level, multi-room indoor spaces. There were tons of ways to go around the map and tons of places to hide as well. A lot of people didn't like camping, which is understandable, but I find that it actually adds something to the game. In Search And Destroy in Blops 1 you had to go room by room, checking your angles constantly, looking at the minimap, it was altogether a much more engaging mind game with the way the maps played.

From Blops 2 onward, the maps have followed this rather boring template. You get three main lanes between opposing teams spawns, and usually a few connectors between these lanes. The map geometry is much more repetitive and predictable. You can much more easily guess where the enemy is, because the design funnels players together... Rather than lets them find each other.

Search got ruined by the maps in Blops 2 and the same map design going onward. The "three lanes" might not be easily apparent, but look closely at any recent CoD map and you can almost invariably pick it out. It made the game less interesting because all you had to do to find an enemy was walk forward. The maps cut out so many interior spaces and alternate routes.

Is it worth preordering this on the psn store? I ask for a friend, as she prefers digital and has PlayStation credit . She also has a 20% off voucher, so I'm wondering if she should order it now or wait until it comes out in order to use it( since it does not work on preorders).

Personally, I'm not a call of duty fan, so I have no idea.

She'd be potentially missing out on the Nuke Town map. With physical, it's supposed to be included in every first-print copy, but I dunno how it works with digital. It's advertised as a preorder bonus.

However, in Black Ops 2, they eventually released it to everyone for free.

Do not get the hate for AW. It was the most fun I had with a CoD since 4. Campaign and MP.

Probably going to pick this up because they kept the movement shit from it.

Treyarch really nailed this one down, there are so many unlockables and customization options in just the competitive MP. Great challenges again to use every specialist and weapon.

There are supply drops to get in the game too, but it looks like that stuff is still kept under wraps.

Wasn't following this game to closely... What is the number of players supported in split screen mode?

2 for split screen online with multiplayer and zombies. 2 for campaign, online and local. 4 for local multiplayer and zombies.

Black Ops 2 is my favorite Call of Duty and definitely broke that COD4/MW2 were the golden days barrier.

Treyarch just know how to make proper Call of Duty games now after seeing what the old school IW were able to create with COD4/MW2. That being said, I've always found their campaign and zombies content to be the weakest parts of their games.

I do think they can make great campaign content, but I was just too sick of going back in the past in Call of Duty games. The settings just bore me and I'm not a fan of zombies. Hopefully this all out, futuristic campaign with co-op is just as fun as AW, which tbh, had the best campaign in Call of Duty, next to COD4/MW2.

I play Call of Duty for multiplayer anyway and I haven't gotten into it since 2012's Black Ops 2, so I'm ready.

Best wishes.

The first CoD I will buy at release day since MW1 (only had borrowed a few of the following cods from friends). Totally excited. The Beta was fun and the Coopstuff sounds good.

Pre-ordered.

Is the story/campaign mode stand alone or is it a continuation of black ops 1 & 2?

Yeah, I'm a bit confused on this too... I know there's a campaign, a story (hell, here's the story trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2GMPVXLGbk&oref=https://) but how's it linked to Treyarch's previous games? And it's an all co-op campaign? Can I play on my own or no?

But I absolutely love how twisted and mind-screwy the Black Ops games can get... it's absolutely mad, but I adore it. It's pulpy and fucked up and kind of emotional. The story trailer makes Black Ops 3 look like it may just be even darker.

I enjoy the campaigns way more than the flat "revenge" stories that COD essentially did. Ghosts and Advanced Warfare were also really flat and uninteresting to me. Feels like Treyarch is the only one working on these games that actually gives a shit about an interesting and engaging narrative. I appreciate that.

I wonder if the Player 1 (assuming playing co-op) is the child of David Mason from Black Ops 2.

Granted David was 46 in the events of Black Ops 2 and this takes place 40 years later...

There's bound to be at least one Mason I'd imagine in the game. To connect it back to the other two games. They said you don't need to have played 1 and 2 to understand it, but that if you did, you get more out of the game's story overall.

You wanna talk abou darker? First mission spoilers
you, the player character, get both your arms and one leg ripped off by a robot. It's BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTAL.

Haven't bought a CoD since MW2 but this sounds like a very complete package out of the gate even for those like me who only play multiplayer casually. I rented AW last year and was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable the campaign was, and I've heard Treyarch has put together fun campaigns in their past CoD games as well. Zombie mode looks neat as well but without anyone I know to do coop with I probably won't spend a whole lot of time there.

So it all piqued my curiousity and the $40 GMG deal got me to pull the trigger on buying my first CoD in 6 years.

How much better do we expect this to be from AW?
Owning AW is the only reason I am not buying this. Got bored quite quickly .

I skipped AW and I'm getting this, fwiw

I don't like jetpacks, wall running, or awful 3 lane maps, but they're doing a lot of other things right this time around

okay question..first of all on which console should I buy? if(!) I buy I can either get xone or ps4...so I assume xbox one is 1600x900 and ps4 1080p whilte both have 60fps..right?
does one of the consoles have some exclusive stuff?

After halo 5 I'm in need for another good shooter so it is either battlefront or this and I think Black Ops will be more fun for me.
I've not played a CoD game sind MW2 so...maybe it is time to try again.

sorry for asking here, OT is not up and it seems a lot of BO3 fans are in here and they can probably help.

PS4 seems to be the console they are putting most effort into development wise with the deal and everything...also there's gonna be a sweet bundle and everything as well and 30 days early map packs.(although that is irrelevant since both consoles are getting them anyway)

So just personally speaking, i'd go for PS4, but that's just my personal choice.

We know Call of Duty BO3 is 1080p 60fps on PS4 cause Treyarch confirmed it around E3, but we don't know what XB1's res will be. It might be 1080p as well, but the last few haven't been.

okay so there is a sony deal..good to know! do you mean with bundle the bonus stuff in the day one edition (zombie mode for example)? because I'll only buy standard ^_^

I agree with this completely. Search and Destroy from COD4 to BLOPS1 was possibly the best online gaming I've experienced.

But since then it's been changed from Search and Destroy to Rush and Kill unfortunately. Not only have the maps been less facilitating of the mode as you say, but bomb placement has often been moved up to halfway between both teams spawns. Which no longer allows for the defensive team time to set up, forcing the attacking team to carefully manoeuvre their way through the maps with care and communication.

What's being in your 30s got to do with it? You'll be fine.

Crazy to think treyarch was the cheap budget dev most people disliked. Good to see them become a wanted name because they worked on a lot.

Its the other way around. Digital includes Nuketown and from select retailers for physical (game is UK not sure about other countries)

Yes, it will be rough goings for at least the first week.

Ugh, I took too long reading the rest of the replies on this page before responding to him, so now I have to quote you to tell him to ignore what you just said!

Being in your 30s means slower quick-twitch reactions as well as fewer COD-style games played at that age compared to teens. Teens not only primarily play these types of games, but also have more time to commit to them, whereas a 30-year-old plays other types of games now and has less free time to master them.
