COD Black Ops III PC may have performance issues/bugs - Up: Patch now available

Will quote myself from other thread:

So, about 2 hours played. TTK feels just right. Lots of Overwatch specialists.

Quick note about PC:
I have i5 2500k OC'd to 4.2ghz and GTX 970 stock. 12gb (was 16gb, 1 4gb stick died) of DDR3 1333 ram. Running on SSD. I used Nvidia GeForce Experience to autotune the game. Running at 1920x1200 (16:10)

Gpu Temp Min/Max: 29c/58c
Gpu Usage Min/Max: 45%/87%
Gpu Vram Min/Max: 3145mb/4067mb
Cpu Temp Min/Max 37c/66c

Haven't seen any drop in FPS, though I've only played MP. I did experience the 100% cpu usage when I booted the game for the first time, but after about 20 seconds, it was gone and never seen again.

Had a few really good rounds, and then some really bad rounds. Fun either way. Good times.

No crashes so far. Game runs like butter; for me. The OP mentioned a menu glitch, which I did experience on my first launch, but never occurred again.

Not trying to be pro or anti anything, just stating my experience on PC. Nothing but thumbs up from me.

Hey champ, speak for your self..there are plenty of us having more than one issue.

Hey man, I never said the game was completly flawless. The game runs completely great for others, and not so much for others. All I said was the thread was hyperbolic, that's it. Hopefully they patch the game up soon for those with problems, Treyarch has been good to rectify problems in the past.

It is nice to have a warning, but some of these issues do not seem deep rooted / may be sporadic.

That is, beyond the worker thread thing.

Hard to say, but the game's extra high settings cache a shit ton of stuff into system and video memory. This is not really a bad thing tbh. "High" is probably the appropriate setting for most users there.

On an i5 with sli 970 I get over 100 fps.

I did the i5 fix which us in the performance thread and disabled AA as it says not to use on multi gpu setups.

Works great now.

guhhhh are you kidding me. First CoD since MW1 and this is what I get? Why did I even build a PC With all these shit ports -___-

Edit: booted the game up quickly before work. On an i5 3570/ gtx 970 combo. Seemed to run fine for me with everything on high at 1080p. Hoping for the best since I bought it for something to play this weekend before Fallout.

No joke, it was stuttering like a bitch on my 970/i5 2500k combo, then I did the ini tweak mentioned in the performance thread, and it smoothed out a lot. I also turned shadow maps to High, as Extra was murdering my framerate. Textures at High instead of Extra seems to help, too, but I'm not sure how big the difference is in quality between the two.

The menu glitch is really strange. At first the game just presented me with a black screen with audio. Couldn't do anything. After the fourth or so restart, I got into the menu and it ran at like 1 fps.

I used the .ini tweak and I thought that fixed it, but that ended up giving me terrible performance. Went back to using 4 threads and I didn't really have any issues booting it up. So I think the menu really just...started working by itself? Like it needed to be cached or something that whole time?

Weird all over.

Ok. While using DSR (NVIDIA card here. 970 specifically) the game defaulted to the highest DSR resolution I had enabled (33xx times 16xx). Setting the res to 1080p the menu instantly stopped lagging and is smooth as butter. No delay, no issues at all. Might be worth a try.

It defaulted to 4K first time on load? That could explain menu performance problems for some...

It's working great for me, 100 - 120fps on high. 970/3570k @ 4.3GHz. I do get the menu freeze bug but it self corrects in less than 10 seconds and is fine afterwards.

Haven't seen much on the AMD front either, but I can confirm the R9 390 (with latest beta drivers) runs this games like a champ @ 1080p
Weird, I keep getting crashes

8320
R9 390 8GB
16 GB ram

Thanks for making this thread. I had it in my basket on GMG and thought "hmm, let me check the performance thread" and after reading that and this I just closed out the tab. I'm tired of getting screwed. I was one of the people that bought Arkham Knight on Nuvem and couldn't get a refund. I also bought Unity and watch dogs last year. I'm done with this shit.

I'm saying they probably made a big deal out of it to compensate for the inevitable backlash for their shit port.

I wouldn't say it's a shit port, it has some fixable issues like every game but it's running great for me, a big improvement over the beta.

I thought some said consoles versions aren't running ideally as well, obviously not even close to such disaster but it seems like the game isn't optimized at all, on consoles as well, shame.

This was me. I was so close. With the announcement of mod support and treyarch usually puts out good ports I was about to buy it. Glad I didn't.

This should be a thing, if a PC port is shit we should alway have a PSA thread that says "Don't buy X game." It would save a lot of people money and headaches so once again a big thank u to the OP.

Why?

For games like AK, sure, but this isn't nearly as wide spread as that, there were plenty people in the performance thread where is running fine.

A PSA thread would be a green light for Gaffers to shit on games they don't like because they read a couple of negative experiences in a performance thread.

Fire up those refunds boys. Fuck em.

Overwatch
Unreal Tournament 4
Counter-Strike

Who needs Call of Duty?

Using that phrase is bannable.

I'm astonished that anybody remembered that CoD came out on PC. Is this the first time a big AAA release wasn't even the number one seller on steam on its launch day?

It's like trying to sell the French on the American healthcare system or something.

I dont see why anyone would want this for PC yet, the custom server and server browser make this game, this wont be out until March next year

The problem with refunds on Steam is that you only get Steam credit. You can't flip it over to a SW: Battlefront Pre-Order because that's locked to Origin.

Nonetheless, Fallout 4 is on Steam, and that's where I'm at taking my CoD: BO3 refund.

UPDATE- they offered me the option to send the refund to either my Steam Wallet OR my PayPal account, thankfully.

So, I'm good.

Eh, I'd call it a shit port when they haven't fixed that stuff by the time the mod tools come around.

I mean it seems hardware related considering some people in the thread are reporting that they aren't having any issues, which seems unsurprising for a PC release since that shit happens so often with PC titles at launch. It's alright as long as they fix them ASAP.

Are you unable to get it any other way for some reason? I haven't had to refund anything thankfully, but I thought it was more than just a wallet option.

You will be issued a full refund of your purchase within a week of approval. You will receive the refund in Steam Wallet funds or through the same payment method you used to make the purchase.
