Eurogamer: The difficulty slider in South Park: TFBH changes the color of your skin.

Sounds like it's not really a difficulty selector since it doesn't affect the combat difficulty of the game itself. It's just there to give a good message on the current state of affairs. Unless i'm missing something and skin color will affect other aspects of the game but I can't think of what those aspects would be outside something like less money to buy equipment. It's been awhile since I played SoT so I kinda forgot how the game systems work.

I believe it reduces to amount of in-game cash you get from encounters, as well as changes dialogue options with NPCs

Im already black in real life and always choose black if I have an option in a game. Guess it's back in black again and I can live real life like always!

It affects the amount of money the player will receive, and supposedly how NPCs treat you.

Not trying to sound racist but I don't really like being forced to play as a certain race since I like making characters that look like me, but I guess I'm going to have to live with it if I play hard mode

It's a cartoon game. No character you make would look anything like you. Break away from making characters look like you. Once I stopped doing that, gaming got more interesting for me. I stopped approaching games like, "what would I do?" and more like, "what would this character do?" Try playing different genders too.

Side Note: Too edgy to have a Super Hardcore Mode where you have dark skin and become trans?

Guys its just a joke

It doesnt seem to affect gameplay

Though im expecting some exclusive content

One quest will probably be long for minorities while whites will get shortcuts lol

Our Aoife Wilson and Chris Bratt, who captured the gameplay in the video, asked Ubisoft developers about this feature during a recent hands-on event. They were told the difficulty of the game affects the amount of money you receive and the way other characters speak to you throughout the course of the game. It is, quite clearly, a social commentary on racism in modern society, and as far as video games go, a pretty effective one.
That's pretty ambitious. Like Mafia 3, kudos for tackling racism on a mechanical level.

This is probably the best 'joke' South Park has done in over a decade. I feel like the show has (at least since the mid 2000's) a tendency to punch-down or take the easy road of "both sides"/"let's all get along". This is great.

Uh what? Did you miss stuff like the episode where George Zimmerman was instantly convicted after he shot a white kid?

Have people just conflated their views of the political parties in the country as an overall "we don't care about anything" kind of statement? They were doing socially conscious material long before it was overtly involved with the political landscape, even in the early seasons when it was mainly gross-out humor.

Christ, the same season which had Douche and Turd had an entire episode about the Special Olympics and how goddamned stupid Cartman was for thinking that he could just breeze through it because he didn't have any handicaps.

Their politics typically fall on the 'both sides suck lol'/vaguely libertarian perspective. The game making a very clear & definitive statement about race relations is almost enough for me to doubt if Matt & Trey had anything to do with it.

You are conflating stern political belief with ideology. They don't just fall between sides in even proportion. They are more centrist than anything which shares a lot with their libertarian beliefs, they have definitely shown socialist leanings on certain topics when it regard means tested access to hand outs. And if you know anything about them and this game. They absolutely control everything!

I must have missed something about Matt and Trey's "politics"..?

Trey is pro gun I think. He also gets mad at people who look down on so-called ignorant rubes in fly-over country.

Also, Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) is a republican and friend of Donald Trump.

Point is, political affiliation doesn't mean you don't care about people and don't want an inclusive society.
