Free to Play Halo Online (Saber, H3 eng) announced, only for Russia [First Info]

Halo F2P? Omg. I can't believe in what I'm seeing - my biggest fear has come true.

Well, makes sense to release in Russia first since Saber is russian.

mixed feelings.

Not going to shit on it until people have played it to see how it turns out, who knows it could be rather fun....maybe.

Saber Interactive is the company responsible for the Halo MCC clusterfuck. Should we be looking forward to a similar festival of jank here? Let's see!
There were multiple companies. Saber only did graphics I think. The company that made sleeping dogs did the turd of a UI for MCC

Halo Online Q&A

Q: What type of game is Halo Online?

A: Halo Online is a free multiplayer-only PC experience that we’re launching as a closed beta test in Russia.

Q: Does Halo Online represent your future plans for the franchise on PC?

A: Halo Online is a learning opportunity for us as we explore ways to welcome new fans to the “Halo” universe. We’re excited to release a “Halo” multiplayer-only PC experience tailored for Russian gamers.

Q: When will Halo Online be available?

A: Halo Online is a learning opportunity for us as we explore ways to welcome new fans to the “Halo” universe. There is no definitive launch date at this time as we proceed in our closed beta period in Russia.

Q: Are you planning on bringing Halo Online to the Xbox One?

A: Halo Online was built from the ground up specifically for the PC. There are no plans to bring Halo Online to the Xbox One.

Q: Will gamers in other regions like North America and Europe be able to play Halo Online?

A: Right now our focus is on learning as much as we can from the closed beta period in Russia. Theoretically, any expansion outside of Russia would have to go through region-specific changes to address player expectations.

Q: Are you planning to officially launch this year?

A: Halo Online is a learning opportunity for us as we explore ways to welcome new fans to the “Halo” universe. There is no definitive launch date at this time as we proceed in our closed beta period in Russia.

We are "excited" to NOT give PC gamers a traditional SP campaign experience beyond Halo1/Halo2 on PC. Thanks, but no thanks, MS. We know you will be launching this worldwide. Don't hide it.

Sure, but that does not mean their "AAA" games could not do very well on PC. They're leaving money on the table.

Their AAA games could do very well on PS4 as well. They need something to sell the Xbox One, and lets face it, the hardware will not move itself.

I'm surprised they are calling it "Halo Online". See the logo on Halo Waypoint

If they intend it to exist only in a Siberian exile would they have chosen such a broad (and American?) name?

I would have expected that name for if they were to go ever go after a PlanetSide type MMO.

That is true. My point was that while the F2P segment is profitable it's not the only one worthy of investment and certainly not the only one profitable. GTA 5 as an example is in the top 10 on Steam ever since pre-orders went live. There definitely is a demand for AAA games on PC, otherwise no publishers would bother bringing their AAA multiplatform games to PC.

Microsoft are uniquely positioned to leverage their Windows 10 - Xbox ecosystem, will they do it ? Only time will tell. They have certainly claimed more first-party games are headed to Windows 10 but promises don't have to be kept in this day and age.

It's a different game for a different market. You'll probably be thankful the game is not releasing in the West.

It sounds like they made a Halo game they can throw shit at to see what sticks. Then use what worked for Real Halo games.

Can we just get their current list of broken PC versions fixed up and released on Steam/GOG?

Halo, Halo 2, Gears of War, Viva Pinata, etc.

Random to only release it in Russia, but at least it's easy to switch your store on the XB1, so theoretically everyone should be able to download it.

Terrible designed spartan suits, check.

There is nothing wrong with the halo 1 and 2 armors yet these newer games try to shove in designs which look overdone and dumb.

This is a PC game, for the russian PC market which is why it's free to play.

The rest of us get to live the struggle with the master chief collection, russians too if they want too.

Yup, good Spartan armor design ended with Halo Reach. The new stuff looks too anime inspired.
i know shikai Wang made the first chief sketch which was very anime inspired, but the final result was anything but
