Attorney General Jeff Sessions delivered a speech to an alleged hate group at an event closed to reporters on Tuesday night, but the Department of Justice is refusing to reveal what he said.

Sessions addressed members of the Alliance Defending Freedom, which was designated an “anti-LGBT hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2016, at the Summit on Religious Liberty at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, in Dana Point, California.

The event promised to “bring together prominent legal advocates, scholars, cultural commentators, business executives and church leaders to examine the current state of religious freedom” and “develop legal and cultural strategies to allow freedom to flourish in the United States and around the world.”
Damn my country keeps on doing the most evil things possible.

Is that the official agenda of the Republicans these days?

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Its like Betsy DeVos and Jeff Sessions are in a race to see who can be the worst fucking head of their department.

A spokesperson for the Department of Justice confirmed that Sessions addressed the Alliance Defending Freedom on Tuesday but did not respond to multiple requests to release his remarks. The Department of Justice released a transcript of remarks he delivered in Dallas earlier on Tuesday and a transcript of remarks he delivered in Las Vegas on Wednesday, but a transcript of his address to the Alliance Defending Freedom has yet to be released.
Tremendous transparency.

Terrible that they're getting oppressed and need to form an alliance.

It's not like they know how NOT to be evil. That would be like asking a leopard to change its spots.

So yeah, that's their official agenda because all of the non-evil Republicans have decided to just furrow their brows and look upset while doing nothing.
They have a lot in common with your police departments. They're either evil or they're complicit to evil by enabling it.

Incidentally, incidents like this would lend credence to well-intentioned folks to go undercover and infiltrate hate groups like the Alliance Defending Freedom so they can expose folks like Sessions when they address them and don't tell anyone about it.

It's funny because religious freedom comes after the right to life liberty and pursuit of happiness. Same with the right to bear arms but apparently we need to live with it thanks to that fuck Scalia rewriting what that amendment meant.

It's not like his bigotry isn't known. Why shy away from something a religious bigoted person should be proud of?

This group literally wants to recriminalize homosexuality.

Who the hell knows what Sessions might have said. I'm sure it's a lot worse than just pledging to combat gay marriage.

”We at ADF condemn all such manifestations of true hate," the post reads. ”They have no place in our society."

Right, right...

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Alliance Defending Freedom is a legal advocacy group founded in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1994 that ”specializes in supporting the recriminalization of homosexuality abroad, ending same-sex marriage and generally making life as difficult as possible for LGBT communities in the U.S. and internationally."

Right, right, right....

Sessions is scum.

Simply reading this tripe makes it difficult to fight the urge to vomit.

Don't hold your breath, im still waiting for the mythodic OPPO to drop that was theorized during the last week of the campaign, that would have saved us from this bullshit.
that was the steele dossier. it was floating around for a while but nobody had the balls to publish it until after the election.

So, I just filed a freedom of information act request for a transcript of the speech. If you live in the U.S., you should do the same at FOIA.gov.

Fuck that miserable bastard...

Can someone please explain how any Christian's religious freedom is in jeopardy/lessened/taken away/etc?

If anything they get away with far too much. Such as mixing church and state.

Few things get my blood pressure up like the phrase "religious freedom" in the context of white Christian Americans.

The Constitution/civil rights law denies them the freedom to legislate against "immoral" behavior.

Not having the freedom to discriminate against LGBT means their religious freedoms are being taken away

I learned about Anthony Comstock a few months ago. Scary stuff, you just know they'll love to go back to those times
