Lets be real here, what hasn't ripped off Syd Mead? At this point his visual style is in the public domain.
There's something wrong with describing how I feel about something? It's literally painful to see what once was my favorite video game franchise completely shed almost everything I ever liked about it and suddenly appear painfully generic. It used to have an air of cutting-edge dynamism, now it has the air of a wet fart coming from the bloated anus of a high budget blockbuster, and I think that's really sad.
I apologize for coming across so strongly, but it's only because I'm pretty passionate about the original series and I can't stand to see it neutered, I'd love to be wrong but every facet of this game's design rubs me the wrong way, and looking at the contents of this thread, it appears I'm not alone.

Mass Effect 1 is absolutely retrospectively romanticized.
No, it was legitimately the best game in the series. It had the better settings, story, sense of exploration, technicolor sci-fi space opera feel, and most of all - atmosphere.

The sequels were more grimdark conventional shooters. Not that they were bad. Just not nearly as good. The sequels had better combat and the second game introduced a lot of great character I will certainly give them that.
ME1 is fucking bad game. Some of shittiest design i've seen, at least in a high budget game.
Wrong wrong wrong wrong and more wrong.
ME1 has better atmosphere than ME2? Lord X(
There is a new race ? Oh god ;_;He isn't Turian. Can't remember what his race is called. New one.
I'm still pretty disappointed that we travel to a new galaxy and there's only one new species. You'd think there would be a good handful.
.
It's a new galaxy. There will be plenty of new races. Would be strange if there wasn't lol.There is a new race ? Oh god ;_;

They aren't wrong. ME1 is hard to go back to.
So much more it hurts.
Pretty sure they've already confirmed this.I hope you can edit all 3 of the Ryder's in the character creation menu.

Thank God for command codes to get through it to do a story playthrough of the trilogy. Otherwise, I think I'd just stick to the comic and never play the first game again.
I am New Harbinger, surrender or burn.
Jesus Christ do they have Michael Bay writing these squadmates? That is some terrible "epic action movie" dialogue.
Definitely waiting on reviews for this.

You think BW will spoil all the new races on a trailer? I'm pissed they already spoiled one, I want it to be a suprise.
That SAM thing is weird.
They're supposed to have launched from Milky Way before the Reaper invasion, and that means the prohibition of AI development is still in effect... and yet they seemed to allow a fully functional AI to be developed for the Andromeda mission? Weird.
I went back to ME1 fine just a couple months ago. It was nice to play an ME game that actually had a good amount of dialogue options and was geared towards being played on a keyboard with multiple hotkeys.
If anything, going from ME1 to ME2 was shocking. So simplified. The gameplay in ME2 eventually becomes quite good but it is so jarring at first.
Like the Star Wars fanbase!Mass Effect is beloved by different people for different reasons. I'm only a big fan of the series due to ME1. It's not a perfect game and it can be janky at times, but what it does well it does really well. The sequels are less space opera RPG and more standard corridor shooter with decent writing and interesting characters. Without ME1 to pull me in though, I'm not sure the BW name alone would have been enough to play 2&3. I'm sure BW is aware of this but it has to be difficult pleasing a fanbase that is really split on what the franchise is suppose to be.

Whats wrong with ME1's "info dump"?
I'm digging the Cora Harper character though
