You definitely have a point, but the ad does not focus on children too much IMO. It seemed like a healthy mix of age groups.
I thought the extended ads problem was just combing to focus too much on kids and casual/party/waggle gaming.
For kids, that's just not the early adopter market for a console launching outside of the hollidays. Middle class and below parents aren't buying a $300 console plus games etc. in March. Save those types of adds for the holiday marking push.
For the casual/waggle stuff, I just think that Wii market is gone. Even games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band failed in their comeback attempts. And I really don't see average, non-core gamer people playing things like 1 2 Switch in public.
Gaming still has too much of a stigma outside of mobile. I live I a major city and work for an urban university. People were playing Pokemon everywhere the first couple of months Pokemon Go hit. Yet it's an incredibly rare event to see someone playing a 3DS or Vita. And when I do it's clearly a core gamer as it's some loner sitting by themselves on campus playing their portable, while their are groups of students hanging out nearby, messing on their phones together etc.
But who knows, and I'm typically wrong about this things. I hated the Wii and waggle shit with the fire of a thousand suns, easily my least favorite gaming platform I've owned and I've been gaming since NES.
So maybe that biases my pessimism on that stuff catching on. In any case, it's another thing that has me thinking about canceling my preorder as I'm just not convinced the game library is going to do enough to appeal to me if they're too committed to chasing the Wii crowd. I need to see more than junta their standard flagship franchises that I'm mostly sick of at this point. I'll think about it a while longer, but I'm leaning more toward canceling and just getting Zelda on Wii U and waiting until 2018 to see how the Switch library is shaping up. $300 is a lot for an underpowered console (I don't care about portables) when Zelda is the only game I'm truly excited for and I can play that on hardware I already own.
