No Man's Sky box art confirmed?

That covers is gorgeous, but I've never heard of this game until this thread.

So..... I looked @ some videos on Youtube and... what is this exactly? Exploration game? You can travel to different planets? First person view with a gun when you step out of your ship? Is there a story?

It gave me indie vibes, similar to something like Journey. Since smaller games are usually digital and I only buy physical/retail, my interest is definitely piqued...

Gross. Nevermind, I'll pass.

It's not online only.

That stealth edit had me shook

I had to fix my face.
I remember this being a question going into E3, but it was answered in subsequent interviews, when he noted that when online, the game will start shotgunning data to their servers, and will start pulling sync data for explored worlds.

I love the X-Wing-esque look to the the nose of the ship. When I watched the E3 presentation, I had to do a double take. The color scheme looks especially similar. It made me want Star Wars content in NMS.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.

The game can be played offline, as far as I'm aware.

EDIT: Yep, see DayEnder's post below.

Playable offline
There are layers of persistence that are maintained by servers.

I sort of wonder if the sentinels in the game are those robots they buuilt to monitor world creation while they were still developing the asset generation

Oh good, thanks! I'm back on board XD
Sounds similar to how Demon's Souls had online integration but it was optional, only meant to enhance the experience.

Great write-up in that thread Icyflamez96 btw, I thought I had all my game purchases planned out for the rest of 2015 but it looks like I'll add this to the list.

I really hope this game does get a retail release; it looks awesome and if they managed to land it - they deserve it.

Also very eager to see how it ends up being priced. The fact that it will contain more content than anyone could ever possibly experience in their entire lifetime sort of throws the "but it's only XX hours long!" adage out the window. Point being I think it would be fully justified to be $59.99, though I'm certain many will disagree.

But do the back of the cover explain what to do?

Someone has probably had this thought.

that looks beautiful

Agreed. Then again, I think it would be hard for anything to not look gorgeous from No Man's Sky.

Day 1 purchase, especially if Morpheus VR

God you don't know how badly I would want this on Morpheus. I don't see this being a Day 1 Morpheus release. But who knows. I just know that if it ever comes out on Morpheus, I could get lost in this world for hours at a time. That + 65daysofstatic music. *Drools* This could def be a killer app for Morpheus too, if it ever ends up on it.

I really love the photo and I downloaded the wallpaper from Sony's Flickr for my phone and my computer at work.

It perfectly captures the exploration of No Man's Sky.
