Any chance of cross buy for PS4/vita?
Besides Sony itself and indie developers, I don't know of any third party that has ever adopted cross buy. So I'm pretty sure each version of the game will be sold separately.
Any chance of cross buy for PS4/vita?
I am betting that is a skill tree.Has there been any information on what looks like the leveling system? From the trailer, it looks to be some sort of branching talent based system
I am betting that is a skill tree.
Here is a youtube link to the AtlusXVanillaware stream where they show gameplay (you can really see the changes they have done to the battle system & stages, much better IMO)
New Odin Sphere Gameplay
Yeah that is what I thought too, similar what to Muramasa: Rebirth had. I'm sure the final ones will be super powerful like the final ones in Muramasa were.
I'm going to pass on this. Odin Sphere was a flawed and limited game with some significant issues.
I'm going to pass on this. Odin Sphere was a flawed and limited game with some significant issues. I got it on PS2 and, though I loved the visuals, I put it down after a few hours. Dragon's Crown was a big improvement but still not quite there. I wish Vanillaware would finally make the game that those gorgeous art and music assets deserve.
Which this remake seems to solve. /shrug
Please do, I'd appreciate a translation.Yep, those are all skills. Does anyone want a translation of them? They're all in Katakana so it's very easy for me to do so.
Having more varied encounters with better combat and more enemies coupled with better exploration might do the trickDoes it though? They're adding more content but there's really no telling if the game will be any less repetitive. If people didn't enjoy playing through the same game 5+ times essentially, just with different characters, I don't see why they would suddenly enjoy doing the same thing with better combat, more battles, and more crafting.

GAH! "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by atlustube.". Anyone has another source?
Unfortunately they are a pretty small team, and making games with these art styles is pretty time consuming under their strict budgets I'd imagine. Even though they are flawed and limited from a gameplay perspective, I'll continue to support Vanillaware because nobody else makes games like theirs.

Didn't they mention they were cutting off some bloat on the remaster? Like repeating stages or something? Or was I imagining things?Only if varied means stuff unique to each campaign. The distribution is the most important thing. If they bloat the game up with a ton of new content but use that same content in every campaign like they did the first time, it'll be the same problem again. If the stages in each campaign now have unique exploration paths and unique mid-bosses throughout, that would fix a lot of issues. Big if though. Vanillaware seems to feel that if they make any sort of content at all, they need to reuse it at least 6 times.

Dragon's Crown is one of my favorite games on the PS3. I never played the original Odin Sphere, but I heard it has some problems. Should I pick this up? Is it similar to Dragon's Crown?
And why isn't there a freaking Dragon's Crown remaster for PS4. I would buy 4 of them to give to friends so we could co-op.

Definitely pick this up. Even with its flaws, I think Odin Sphere is a better game than Dragon's Crown. And this remaster looks to be ironing out or outright fixing most of its problems.
I was replying regarding deciding to skip this out of hand without even waiting to see how the improvements pan out. Still, saying "I don't see why" and "better combat" in the same sentence seems weird; you just answered yourself. Why would anyone play anything if not for gameplay?
Eh. Yes, the content was repetitive, but so is Dragon's Crown. I have 120 hours into DC and still play, though, because the base combat is fun. Odin Sphere had interesting combat, but it wasn't fun. Everything came out slow, had lots of recovery, and nothing canceled into anything. Items made it interesting. A more fun combat system can go a long way toward making repetitive content more engaging. Especially if all 5 characters have different and fun combat systems.Because the problem with Odin Sphere wasn't that the combat was terrible, it was because it was really repetitive? There's a huge difference between a game being fun for 7 hours and that same game still being fun for 40 hours. Sometimes less is more.

I'd also like to point the finger at many hunting games. Those are the pure definition of repetition, but the ones with solid systems in place have people playing them for thousands of hours, and for many years.
As much as I dislike the design of the rabbit guy, his addition to this statue strangely gives it a bit of Disney-like class and legitimacy compared to the standard lewd anime statue it would be with just Velvet. Would buy.
Jacknod
Did you play for like 5 minutes?Never completly understood the gameplay in this one,got confused as I went on,in what seemed a linear round map and circle lol,and just gave up after a while...

Let's not kid ourselves here, Vanillaware art is insanely sexualised, lewd and uncompromising. That's part of the beauty. It wasn't an insult.New figure looks great! I'm glad to see Cornelius in it. I hope Oswald gets one, so the entire cast will all have one.
Velvet had a prior one based on her character key art:
I wouldn't say that's lewd (nor would I about Gwendolyn's or Mercedes's prior figures). Let's not run wild with stereotypes, eh?

Yeah well, I'd like it if just for once we'd get a game without that, myself. Oh well, not holding my breath...Let's not kid ourselves here, Vanillaware art is insanely sexualised, lewd and uncompromising. That's part of the beauty. It wasn't an insult.

So when's one of these coming for Vanillaware's one really good game, GrimGrimoire?!
(I will probably buy this, even though that will probably be a mistake.)
Or I can continue enjoying those games for their gameplay and still being critical of the art. Imagine that! That's their thing, its better to just ignore the games entirely if the art bothers you so much. Kamitani isn't going to change or censor how he draws cause people have complaints about the lewdness.
Yes, there are people playing Monster Hunter for literal thousand(s) of hours, but those are very few. Most dedicated player usually clocked their games for 100 hours or so, but even then that is still a lot of repetitionPeople play hunting games for thousands of hours?
You know what Dragon's Crown and hunting games have that Odin Sphere doesn't? Multiplayer.
Probably when Nippon Ichi finds a way to add a loli rubbing minigame to the Vita version.
