PAY2WIN: COD microtransactions keep getting worse - IW gives stat boosts to guns

This wouldn't bother me if you was given a rare supply drop after every game but 97 hours to get the epic variant of a gun is disgusting. I'll just stick with MW:R and hopefully MW2:R next year.

The greed is just gross at this point. $60 base game, $50 season pass, and an endless amount of shitty microtransactons created around a design meant to intentionally make the game worse. I'll get Titanfall 2 instead.

The beta was really not good and I would prefer waiting for a huge sale, but I really enjoyed Modern Warfare. I don't what to do.

If your thinking hard about it then you should buy it. Otherwise you'll probably have to wait 6 months for MWR and at that point you'll just lose interest.

The whole beta felt like a generic Free-to-play shooter, and the online menu is even designed to look like one. I saw this in the beta and was like "Yep.. they are copying F2P model games"

I consider myself lucky not having played any of these games with terrible DLC practices like "lottery DLC". I thought it was terrible back when you had to shell out 500$ on average to get all COSMETIC things in the game, let alone one that has random pay to win prizes.

This is horrifying.

Agreed. Support the team that made cod what it is by purchasing titanfall 2... Not the mod team that's behind the franchise now.

Not to mention the way that it's being supported with content. season passes, micro transactions, locking the MW Remaster behind the $80 edition.

Titanfall 2 has no season pass and all DLC will be free.

Based on what? A bullshit calculation from the OP based on his time in the Beta?

There's no way in hell it takes 100 hours to max out 1 weapon. That's just not happening. This is worst case scenario "concern".

They're two different games. Telling a COD fan to play Titanfall is risky.

Just play Modern Warfare Remastered.
I think that's what most people are going to do anyway, even if they buy IW

Yep, and in turn, adding to the problem. Since that's kinda saying to Acti that it's OK to be anally violated as long as there's ice cream after. ;)

This thing has been known since the beta, and kinda glad more people know about it now.

What made me stop playing BO3 (I friggin' master prestiged it even) is when weapons started appearing in Supply Drops. Not only is that a certainty in IW, but now we get this new kind of crap.

If there ever was a time to vote with your wallet, it's this. Send Acti a message where it counts -- your purchasing power. If you want to buy BF1 or TF2 or Overwatch, go ahead. If not, then don't. But don't buy IW just for MWR and then complain since you're being part of the problem.

I kinda gather that this will factor in when it comes to reviews as well.

And if you want to know what kind of abilities Epic and Legendary weapons have, check Drift0r's vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KasWKwOIJlY Literally will make fighting people with these weapons a pain. Yes, you can get them playing normally, but you can get them waaaaay faster by spending real money, which people will most likely do. UGH.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I remember when cod used to get patches with free content. Now it's devolved into p2w. I admit it has taken longer than expected. Nonetheless it still occurred

This.

I would put money on the Titanfall 2 community outliving the IW community.

The "Salvage" points won't be as rare as you're making them out to be. I guarantee they didn't create an upgrade system where it takes 100 hours to max out one weapon.

Of course they did.

The beta also had higher earn rates for keys and salvage.

Give it a few months and they'll probably introduce a way other than supply drops and earning salvage via playing.

Tmartn already made a video saying how this new system should be praised, but that shouldn't surprise anyone.

I wanna say yes? It's the main reason people buy COD regardless of quality. We already got people in the TF2 thread constantly bringing up how long the community will last.

I ask because I got AW on PS4 a few months back and it was deader than dirt. Don't know about Xbox or PC.

People will use real money to boost their stats. Can you really blame Activision?

Yes, because if you take those dumb users at the justification for additional transactions then there is no depth to the publishers scummy tactics.

They have to take the responsibility for their world economy and market. It's their stall.

question to those in who may know about it....

doesn't this happen in the Multiplayer part of The Last of Us?

I remember playing there to get some trophies so I was never very serious about getting good at it but I do remember there was stuff you could buy with money that clearly gave you an edge during matches, better and/or upgraded weapons. You could get them on your own but it would take an eternity.

basically what I am reading here.

is it any different??

I feel like this will be the year everything gets fucked for CoD. I've been a hardcore fan through all the new games, only seeing major issues in retrospect and willing to forgive a lot, but IW seems like a huge mistake. They're doubling down on p2w, locking up content through blind boxes, the game is like a clunkier blops 3 but devoid of all personality, specialists are in one year and out the next, no boots on the ground after huge community backlash, no innovation at all in mp, quickscoping is worse than ever. Its the first CoD to me that feels like absolute filler and completely skippable.

Now you add all those issues combined with series fatigue and that is a very bad mixture. They had no choice but to include MWR if they wanted this game to sell. Major youtubers are expecting it to be dead in 2-3 months. Next year will be a very tough sell with MW2R, then the following year we'll get BlopsR, by that point I expect f2p CoD.

Lol, I'll play it and MWR when it's $5. Fuck em

So never.

Posted this in the Titanfall OT but got no response, what did they change from the alpha of Titanfall 2s MP compared to the full game? It's getting such great reviews but I really disliked it compared to the first.

And just as I say about earn rates they post the below on Reddit:

ECONOMY:

Increased salvage gain in mission teams.
Changed currency value in supply drops.
Increased drop rate of keys in round-based modes.

Wonder what the currency value in SD's change means.

We first started with map DLC,

then came online passes (shudders),

and now it is pay to play/win (not likely you'll be winning when Timmy no thumbs steals his mom's credit card to get a one shot kill to anywhere sniper variant from a loot box).

This is why I might have to support Titanfall 2 because of reasonable business practices, but I also have to remember that EA is still behind them and that BF1 still has player base splitting map packs...

You honestly expected IW to scrap a game months before release because a vocal minority doesn't like it? This isn't like Titanfall 2's alpha where Respawn could make minor tweaks to fix the issues from the alpha. You are expecting IW to make fundamental changes to a game mere months before release. That's not going to happen. There are definitely sections of the maps in the beta that don't need the BO3 movement system, but there's sections that do.

COD already has a F2P version, COD Online. I don't understand why Activision won't release it outside of China. It's packed with content.
