your confirmation about no fatigue sealed the deal for me, now gimme some horrors in vr, I need serious thrills in this bitch ;)

It's way more comfortable than Vive, and even the Rift, which I considered to be the most comfortable thus far.

Adjusting it is so easy, and the vision is not distorted if you look straight down or tilt your head at an extreme angle (ear to your shoulder)

Ok, does this thing work with VR porn? I know pornhub has a section dedicated to it, but I likely won't be able to try out my unit until Friday.

Is the non-VR mode (Menus, non-VR games, non-VR media) supposed to only track rotation? I felt it was really "off" until I realized it doesn't do positional tracking.

After a few hours here are my impressions so far:

Until Dawn: amazing, just cheesy light hearted jump scare fun. Really enjoyable and hilarious watching others play it.

Playroom: the platformer game is brilliant. Not overly impressed with the others yet but graphically looks really nice. My family enjoyed the monster one.

Battlezone: loving this, being in the tank is awesome. Motion is slightly slow but really slick game. Parked it to play when everyone is in bed and I can concentrate more but very encouraging so far.

Rigs: Omg Rigs!! If you can power through the Tutorial which is crap and too drawn out it's amazing. I'm not a multiplayer kind of guy but I'm all over this. Incredible

Vr World's: ocean descent is good, especially for non gamers, but only really good once. Vr luge was ok but got boring really quickly. Not doing anything wrong but pretty boring. Scavengers odyssey- my sister in law tried this and had to turn it off after a few minutes due to feeling a bit sick. Gonna try London Heist later tonight.

Still got to try the assembly which I'm looking forward to and might buy more games tomorrow

Overall I'm really impressed. My brother has a vive and I think with the software this holds its own. A really comfy mid tier headset that gave me just as much immersion.

Really good job and I've had zero issues with tracking/drift etc

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Apparently, a splitter won't work. The only way to get HDR is to swap cables.

cool was planning to do that now anyways just need to run a 2nd hdmi from my tv later

Edit:

Consdering I have to re arrange my living room to use this thing no biggie having to swap an hdmi too

I felt the same so far everything has been fine for me until they give you the ability to move freely around the environment and that's when I don't feel so good.

Only managed to get 30 minutes to play the driveclub VR demo, stood up, with a controller but it was a pretty impressive experience. Will move my ps4 tomorrow and play it with my wheel in the lounge.

Just need to find the sweet spot for the optics so it's all clear, seem to work better the closer it is but can't seem to get it close enough without it feeling weird on my nose. I'm sure I will get it sorted eventually.

Yeah, that's what RoadToVR review mentioned - PSVR is using some better kind of optics that doesn't suffer from godray problem.

Not really "better", just different. Standard lenses, much like the DK2 and earlier. They don't have the artifacts of the Fresnel or hybrid Fresnel lenses that the Vive and CV1 Rift use, but are heavier/thicker to compensate.

So I'm not having any issues with motion tracking (Rez Infinite blows my mind), but I am seeing pixels as big as my fist. It's really noticeable on the Driveclub demo when cars are in middle distance, and on any text box on Rez.

I've noticed that my TV has fallen back into 576i mode when I've started a VR game, but I can't change the TV resolution without exiting the game. Am I in a situation where my TV is simply not playing ball with the breakout box? I've got a Sony Bravia KDL-32V5500, and it's been fine with my PS4 otherwise :/

Really enjoying this. If you are on the fence, trying it will tip you over the edge to buying one.
I even enjoyed drive club, I very rarely play racing games, but it helped so much being in vr.

You guys think sports games like 2K(NBA, WWE) or MLB The Show will eventually have a VR spectator mode? I think it would be pretty cool, like watching a wrestler's entrance from different seats in the venue!

I would say experiences may vary. I got about an hours worth of play last night before I had to get some sleep for work. I felt a tad uneasy a few times, though nothing serious. Also got that heavy-headed feeling for a bit when I finished up. I'm hoping I just build up a tolerance the more I use it.

Still though, great experience. Rez was crazy.

Small question about the new camera:

The stand it comes with, can it be used as mount on top of the TV or is it just a stand for flat surfaces?

I've had similar issues. Every time I start a game it has a fit changing modes too

Ok. So 2 questions.

The visuals seem really out of focus for me. Is there a setting for this other than pushing the headset closer to my eyes? I tried the eye distance setting but it didnt really seem to make it look any different.

Also on the demo disc, why do some games only show the buy option and not the play option?

All set up, so easy to set up, only took 5 mins and good to go. Girlfriend had a go on Ocean Decent Shark Attack & job Simulator, she's a bit of a gamer but not into it as much as me but she absolutely loves it.

I've just played Kitchen and had a quick go on the London Heist and they really are amazing experiences. Kitchen is creepy as fuck and London Heist is just awesome from the first few levels.

No problems with the Move controllers, they work fine so far. Picking objects up, aiming, shooting and reloading in the Heist is just brilliant.

I guess I'm easily pleased but that alone was worth the price of PSVR, its just so immersive and the entertainment value is brilliant. Sony have done a great job, despite the PSVR being cheaper than Vive and Rift, its just a great VR headset.

Move the headset up and down a bit, until it looks in focus, that is more for focus than bringing the screen closer to your eyes.

Question 2 not so sure, I got that problem too, maybe a bug that will be fixed.

Well, after playing with PSVR all day (and having a fucking blast while doing so), I have only two things on my wishlist:

More anti-aliasing
Remove the weird 'film grain' effect

Other than that I think the graphics are more than serviceable for VR! In fact with better AA the graphics would be really good on some titles.
Hopefully PS4 Pro addresses the aliasing issues.

I just realized I ordered just the $399 Playstation VR and not the camera or move controllers. Do I HAVE to have the camera? If so, why the hell would they sell this thing without it included? Deceptive AF in my opinion essentially selling something that you can't even use without another totally separate purchase.

Because tens of millions of people already have the camera, so they are giving those people the option of not spending money on something they don't need. Can't please everyone.

I was prepared to buy this day one for MONTHS, then last week's GB stream made me hesitant. Now I'm reading everyones impressions and fuuuuuu it's hard to resist not grabbing the car keys and going out to get one...

Sounds good, thanks. He wants to try it, and he would like Batman and Job Simulator I'm sure. Driveclub might be bad for him though, but I'll only let him play when supervised anyways... at least if/when I pick a bundle up.

If you get job simulator, check if the PSVR version has the 'little people' mode which lowers the counter tops etc. I think it's a lever inside the podium at the start

I went to Best Buy at noon today. They had VR bundles and non-bundles. Plenty of games. Absolutely no interest from anyone other than me. I was the only person looking at the stuff.

Afterwards I went to Wal-mart. They had Playstation VR stuff in the electronics section. Again, I was the only person looking at it.

This thing is going to bomb hard. Nobody knows it exists and once they see the price will get a PS4 Pro/Xbox One S instead.

You went to two whole stores? Well I'm convinced. Surprised retailers don't hire you and pay you for this kind of razor sharp analysis.

Btw I went to the grocery store this morning and the person in front of me was buying milk, and so was I. Clearly this must mean that everybody in the country is buying milk today. How is America going to deal with these epic milk shortages?

I know. The hype is starting to get to me but I know theres not enough titles for me to shell out that much money at this time.

Edit: Congrats Modus.

Happy PSVR launch everybody :)

I'm feeling stoked, because we got our little game in at practically the 11th hour in time for launch. Woke up this morning to see it featured in the "PSVR compatible" area in the north American PSN store, and that was just cool, and some new 'media vouchers' in ouir mailbox.

So, to celebrate, I'm handing out these vouchers here. Quote this post to reveal. Each code will grant you a copy of the game's complete bundle. There are codes for North America and Europe, and I think they are all for the bundle.

post the number of the code you grab. and if you have time in the deluge of games to give it a try, let us know if you dig it :)

Got #10, thanks!

Ah of course. Thanks.

I always forget whether going from US to EU is an inverter, or a converter. And I can never remember which voltage belongs to which countries. So when you buy one, make sure you ask a sales rep to help you out. I buy my converters (UK to US) from an electronics hobby shop for EE folks, and they always help me out. I buy heavy duty ones, they come in metal boxes that are about the size of a gamecube, and cost me around $40-$50 usually.

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T JUST GET A POWER PLUG ADAPTER. Those will melt as you use them unless you have an inverter/converter. When I imported an Amiga for the first time, a sales associate at fry's sold me a plug adapter instead, and it literally melted in my wall. If the person helping you buy your equipment is showing you a power plug adapter (they are usually small, and cheap) then that is not what you want.

IIRC, the US uses 110v mains, and the UK uses 220V mains.

Got US#3 thanks! Me and my brother are having a blast! I tried the driveclub demo and I'm unfortunately one of the ones that can't handle it. It was the title I was most looking forward to as well. Hope I build a tolerance or and update helps with the sickness

Apparently there isn't one; you'll need to swap cables.

In fact, it's looking like you'll need to swap cables on a standard 1080p set too.

Honestly i have no idea what the problem is. Maybe its because i dont know what colorbending is but i dont see a difference. I even changed the theme on tne ps4 back to the standard blue and looka fine to me. Youtube also looks as nice as ever :/
