Tales of Zestiria: Cautious excitement? Tales is stale as all get, but Udo and Shiina have me looking back.

Bloodborne, Persona 5, Dark Souls II:SotFS, Final Fantasy X/X2 HD, Disgea 5, and, after a substantial price drop, Final Fantasy R type-0 for sure. Throw in Witcher 3 from the west and indeed, this is going to be an RPG dominate year for me. Hell, I'm probably going to buy the lazy, 4:3 port of FFVII, just because it's FFVII.
Also keeping my fingers crossed that a Kingdom Hearts collection and Tales of Zestria will find their way to PS4 at some point.

As a complete non-Digimon fan, this looks so good, and it's always plastered all over the #BuildingTheList twitter page when I visit. I could see it getting the same treatment as Yakuza 5 at PSX this year.
there is persona 5 and xenoblade x and quite possibly zelda depending on if they will elaborate the crafting gear system from Skyward sword, but the other output isn't that much different from previous years.

Persona 5 is the only one looking worthy of a Day 1 purchase. But if it's as awesome as the trailer made it look, I won't need or have time for another one anyway.
However, given how they didn't even say what quarter it's scheduled to release in Japan, I have my doubts it'll be out in the West this year. Would love to be wrong though.

I've tried again and again to find a JRPG to like, but it's been tough. Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Ni No Kuni, Persona, FF, that one with the blue dragon... the only one I've been able to finish is Chrono Trigger.
Is there a JRPG that isn't reliant on grind and can be completed in less than 20 hours? Preferably one that doesn't have 10 minute opening cutscenes? Or would those kinds of games not even qualify as JRPGs?

I'm buying those ones this year. Disappointed that the Tales game isn't coming for the PS4... What's TiTs? FFX/X-2 combo, I've already bought recently for Vita.
Hopefully 2016 has more than the Level 5 jRPG, FFXV, and a new Tales game.

Bloodborne is not a JRPG. Its an ARPG.
Out of the pure, clean, white as snow JRPG's. Cosmic Star Heroine, Xenoblade, Persona 5, Type 0 ( i ... may have to remove this ), Ys have my attention.
Disgaea is a Strategy RPG. And the best series ever made of that genre.
Year of JRPG? I'm just glad we can have a generation with some great JRPGs. I kind of feel like this one will blow the PS360 gen out of the water. Don't get me wrong, I was one of the few that actually liked FFXIII, and Ni No Kuni is one of the top JRPGs in a long time. Still, it was slim pickings. Now with Persona 5 I bet they'll get out some more games using that engine. And FFXV looks pretty rad.

Great JRPG's have been all but dead since the early days of PS2. There have been a few gems here and there, but nothing like the SNES-PS1 days.
Nice list. Out of my head the only titles which are still missing are Cosmic Star Heroine, Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II and Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this will get localised with a PS4 SKU.

So I bought a Wii U recently due in part to Xenoblade Chronicles being one of my two favourite games of all time and the resulting hype for XCX. Then all this P5 happened. P4G is my other all time favourite and I've never been so hyped. I need a PS4. Luckily I'm in Europe so I probably won't see Persona till 2016.

Oreshiki 2. Sony announced a NA release last year & has shown the game off at various conventions, but we don't have a firm release date yet. Should definitely come out sometime this year though.

ATM the only ones I'm guaranteed to pick up are Type-0 and P5 (which I doubt will get a western release this year). FFXV and KH3 are absolutely not going to be this year.

I don't, I was an Xbox kid. But I'll need a new system eventually to get my current gen going; and I don't see any system sellers other than P5 on the horizon so PS4 it is.
