If there is no public interest in what a journalist reports it will have no audience to report to. That's how it's regulated.

That's not what Public Interest means.

Its things that are in the interests of the public, not things the public would be interested in; its an important distinction.

The public might be interested in seeing Hulk Hogans sex tape, or nude closeup photos of JLaws arse - it does not mean hosting those photos are protected under the umbrella of public interest

If that Wii U info is true, no company hates their fans more than Nintendo.

They've hated their fans for a decade now!

How is leaking the exact content of the Switch reveal trailer hours before it airs Public interest?

A port of the 3DS game Mario Sports Superstars.
It was teased by the french journalist who correctly leaked bayonetta and devils third afaik.

oh damn, that's cool

Switch's launch + first year line up continues to look pretty damn good

especially compared to the 3DS and Wii U line up, which nothing should be compared to honestly

I hope they have some heavy hitters between launch and June. If 3D Mario and Splatoon are day one, then I could see Mario Kart in April or May. Hopefully at least one more. Gotta keep the momentum.

Persona 5 on Switch in April would be so gooooowwwwwwdddddddde.

And Square Enix better release that Dragon Quest Builders port I want or else!

She's been blacklisted now. Haha. June 23rd is my birthday. It would be an excellent birthday present.

Would be interesting to see how Zelda sells in June away from the annual packed Q4 holiday.

I'm giving well known examples of public prurience not being the same as public interest.

How is leaking the exact content of the Switch reveal trailer hours before it airs Public interest?

I'm not making any assertion whether it is or isn't, I'm just saying that "the public interest" has a very specific meaning, and it isn't "things the public would be interested in".
The term "interest" has a different meaning.

I dont care as long as the next zelda doesnt take that long again. Waiting times between mainline title have become annoyingly long. Skyward was delayed also and they didnt begin Brainstorming until months after its Release..

Now with the fabled home/portable sector combined I hope they are already working on the next zelda. Or give me a Majora with botw assets!

If this is true, it certainly wasn't out of no where. Nintendo would have contacted her before hand.

Supposedly I should be playing this game RIGHT NOW, then when the switch was announced, the rumored -confirmed?- release date was March. It sucked but what are you gonna do.

And now we need to wait until June?

Why not push it to November 2017 if they really want it to be a commercial success? Another E3 with Zelda Wii U, sorry, I meant Zelda switch

If the rumored release date ends up being accurate, it's not going to show up at another E3.

It also doesn't need to be held until the holidays to be a massive success commercially. If it's finished in June, it should release in June, as Nintendo and Switch need all the momentum they can get throughout 2017.

Some of you are acting like the Wii U version got pushed back for way more than a measly single week. That's really nothing.

Some people might legitimately be upset but I imagine most just want to complain, the majority of people will be getting the Switch version regardless.

They've hated their fans for a decade now!

Probably longer. I actually bought this version w/ a $50 new Gamecube on release day, still think I made out better than those desperately searching for a Wii.

it's getting a Wii U release

what other publisher would even for a second consider releasing BotW for the Wii U in June 2017?

Well it's a Wii U game. Why wouldn't they release it for Wii U?

Yes I'm sure they're really torn up

And not all buying Zelda for their new Switch and hype as fuck at the same time

You're right, obviously. I wouldn't respect them either, for that very reason. Just had to point it out.

I still think the Wii U version will get quietly canned. As I've said before, there's no way they'd release one of the biggest ever games for the system over half a year after they've stopped making the system you're supposed to play it on.

Good luck getting alot of wii U owners to buy Switch if you basically give them the biggest middle finger of all on the way out.

I'm still more intrigued by the Wii U version since I get the benefit of having the map on the gamepad instead of the TV.

I thought I read somewhere recently( on here) that the gamepad map was removed from the wii U version?

TP had also been shown two years in a row.

Look at it the other way; if Nintendo gave her free games and invited her to exclusive events despite all this then it only encourages more employees to leak despite their NDAs whilst encouraging more journalists to report on it.

How would this encourage their employees to violate their contract? I assume, see my mention of wrongdoing earlier, that the leaker was not (monetarily) rewarded.
This is about how Nintendo deals with the press. The leaker violated a contract. Very different situation.

Nintendo hasn't shown any evidence of wanting to trounce bad reviews or even discussion on their leaks in the past (otherwise GameXplain would be blacklisted as well as they've done both), they're directly going after one of the few people reporting on these leaks.

Privileges* can be taken away if they do not comply, as we have just seen (or rather I am writing under that assumption, as we do not have confirmation as far as I know). Who is to say this will never happen if e.g. a journalist extensively covered Nintendo in a critical manner? We know companies can be extremely petty. They're not giving out stuff because they like people after all, but because they see a benefit.
*Given the possible importance this term might be misleading, but it serves well enough nonetheless. I do think the term is not too farfetched, given the purpose it serves.

I'm sticking with the Wii U version regardless. Nothing beats only having to pay 87 cents for a copy of the game. (Extreme Saving ftw)

It's super scummy for them to spread the releases apart, but at the same time... we're lucky to still be getting the Wii U version. I can kinda understand the move and it's only a week lol.. not worth complaining about.

Please, let me have my one last dual screen gaming moment before it's gone for lord knows how long. Can anyone confirm(or deny)?

Its true, the gamepad does not have a map anymore. It did at the game awards but the most recent build was very much a one screen experience. Shame since WWHD and TTHD had such a brilliant setup.

It could be that Nintendo didnt want journalists to hype / talk about the dual screen functionality because of the Switch Version, but it will still be there in the final game.
