Seller of Durango devkit says Durango info is old, compares to Orbis better

It would be disappointing if Sony matched the RAM size, unless it's 8GB of gddr5 RAM, in which case that's not even matching them that's blowing way by them.

Thats a given[gddr5] but it would only blow them away if they raised the bus size. Going by the latest leaks that didnt happen.

Part of me believes MS will up the specs to match or exceed PS4 and the other part remembers Kinect and if they bundle it with the system, plus match/up PS4 specs, how can reasonably price this beast?

Man is would be awesome if MS step and match the ps4 gpu and sony match the x720 ram size.

that would be AWESOME! Hype!

Can they really do that at this point? I mean, it's supposed to launch this holiday if the rumours are correct. Can you really do big changes to the GPU like that like 6 -7months before you start to mass produce the units?

If true then does that mean console production hasn't ramped up? If so then how likely are we to see a decent launch in 2013? By decent I mean not having an armed guard escort you from the store provided you're the one person in your city to get one because of their scarcity.

If you really want one you'll camp on Amazon the day it is announced.

I hate to be that guy and destroy some dreams, but the man with the "Accurate" tag strongly implied that the specs haven't changed.

He also said both consoles are a wash. He knew all of this Orbis info prior.

You can't have a wash with one console having a gulf in performance.

I hope this is the case since I'm (obviously) still undecided on which console to get, but he could at least post some specs rather than making a vague tweet for attention.

That's great and all. However, the subject of this thread is SuperDAE saying the specs have changed.

But you brought up the "Accurate" guy. Not the other poster...confused

Or did I read that wrong and the other person was meaning SuperDAE said that?

Ok I'm confused so the information we have on Durango is old and has changed but the Orbis stuff are up to date and hasn't changed?

Surely if something drastic was off from the current info someone more reliable would have said otherwise and it would have been said when the info first leaked.

Things can and will change but I dont expect any huge moves from ether side right now.

My guess is MS just ups the GPU clock speed.

lherre commented in the Durango GPU thread that the specs haven't changed.

The GPU specs.

The plot thickens.
The current specs going by Ilherre's post doesn't even line up with what he said.

And he already knew Orbis current specs beforehand...

It would blow my mind if MS didn't at least try to match Sony. Sure specs aren't that important to the mainstream but to hardcore gamers, who provide the foundation early on, it's very important.

Clock speeds and RAM can be changed relatively easily, it happened late in the 360's development.

Really ram? I know clocks could be, depending on yield, but I wasn't sure if ram could be. Late I mean.
I don't mean like a year ago or so where there were already legit changes.

Unless the change to Durango took place earlier, say mid-2012...

Not so sure about that. With such highly integrated chips, there are limits regarding thermal design. And I guess to change the RAM type they would need a new memory controller.

If anyone posts this on GAF seriously, as part of a console war argument, I think I'll start with a perm instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt. This is embarrassing.

Yeah. It's not even E3 yet and people are going nuts. That kind of garbage should stay on Twitter.

Not this late. Clock speed changes will be minor since the TDP for the console will most likely be tapped out at this point. 8Gb of DDR3 and 32Mb of eSRAM also don't leave room for change because of their size and memory controllers. The rumors of Sony upping the RAM on Orbis also seem wrong to me for the same reason. The specs we've seen are what devs are being told are the targets. We don't have the whole picture and things can change but they're going to be close.

RAM bandwidth speed will not change if MS sticks with DDR3, and that is their biggest disadvantage from what I gather from the spec threads.

At least it is good to know that Orbis specs will probably come out in 2 weeks, I am going to wait and see what MS is going to say about them.

I haven't got the specifications to hand but am I right in thinking that the current alleged Orbis specifications are 'current', following revisions later in 2012 — whilst the current alleged Durango specifications are dated as of Q1 2012?

If this is the case, isn't it likely that the Durango's specifications were modified just as Orbis' were?

You quoted it. Self ban.

Make sure you come back by the 19th though. =P

Anyway, this is the same guy that leaked some of the documents IIRC... and this guy boasted the Durango specs from the start, and then when Orbis rumors come (...you know.. the ones he leaked) out he cries wolf.

lol why is there so much damage control for the Durango. I swear every week there is a new thing that comes up to defend the honour of the unreleased console. Whether it be secret sauce or outdated devkits and so on. Everyone just needs to relax. All will become clear soon. All will have their moment in the spotlight. All will have their own threads with funny and extremely disturbing gifs. All will have pros in some ways and all will come up with some cons. This isn't directed to anyone really in particular but there just seems to be all these lines being drawn by various entities whether they be insiders or on twitter or websites where if one for some reason doesn't like or agree what the other has said, they'll contradict it with nothing but more vague statements that may or may not be true, or may not be as significant as the implication they carry.

Breathe internet. Breathe. It's a long goddamn year.
