Problem is, Sonic Team's new 2017 project has an NX logo at the end of its trailer.
So, Mania might not be coming to NX after all. Or maybe Taxman and his team weren't given dev kits yet or something.
uh.,i should check that

Just played this for like 2 hours straight. It's incredible. The game we've been waiting 20 years to play.
I'm the kind of Sonic nerd who gets excited seeing new pixel Sonic sprites they added to Sonic turning around from a sudden stop and I watch it a 0.25 speed.

This game looks great, but I'm still a little skeptical since this isn't the first time Sega attempted to "return back to Sonic's roots". I don't think I need to remind everyone of Sonic 4...

Thanks for the report! Hype is at critical levelsJust played this for like 2 hours straight. It's incredible. The game we've been waiting 20 years to play.
Cool. Thanks for the update.
This game...
It's...it's...perfect!
I never thought I'd say this again, but I'm officially excited for a new Sonic game.

It's the first part of the 3D Blast (Genesis version) ending credits.Wow, when that mini beat drops at 0:18. What's the name of the first part of the music?
I never thought I'd see the day when I would be super hyped for a Sonic game again. This looks fantastic! Really looking forward to this now.
Thank you Sega!
Nice catch.Anyone notice the old Sonic sprite behind the new one in the trailer?

Oh, so the music from the trailer isn't going to be similar to the music in game? :/ Who's handling music.

Since we still aren't sure of Madeon's involvement, it's possibly him.
these are the kind of ridiculously obscure nods you get when a game is made by obsessive superfans
No. Tee Lopes.Since we still aren't sure of Madeon's involvement, it's possibly him.
This is being made by, among others, Christian Whitehead who made the sonic 1, 2 & CD remakes.
I don't recognize the music starting at 0:29, is it new or from some recent Sonic game I haven't played?
No. Tee Lopes.
Remakes? Like fan remakes?

I KNOW RIGHT? RAYMAN GOT 2D GAMES
METROID IS GETTING A NEW 2D FAN REMAKE
AND THEN THERE'S THIS GAME
Gimme a 2D Mario platformer with sprites resembling the 2D art in Mario World 3D Ninty!
Remakes? Like fan remakes?
No, like "I can recreate these games 100% faithfully in a cross platform game engine, will you pay me?" and eventually they said yes.Remakes? Like fan remakes?
I don't agree with that, NSMB was still somewhat modern with 3D graphics even though the gameplay was 2D, didn't look like a NES game in any way. Sonic Mania looks and plays like a Megadrive game, it's more like Megaman 9 than NSMB, or a compilation of levels from Mario Maker without the ability to make new levels. Could still be fantastic though but personally I don't see it as a step forward.Eh, it is a way forward for Sonic. It's essentially what NSMB was for Mario.

I really want Nintendo to do it but they clearly won't because it doesn't make much business sense. The NSMB games sold like gangbusters and the 2.5D style is probably a lot more cost efficent. There's a reason none of their several 2D platformers across the 3DS and Wii U this gen use sprites.

And now they're finally making classic Sonic games again.
Fair. They're not 100% faithful. They're close, but definitely not 100%.
