I still cannot believe this day has a come and we finally have a big budget, big time Spider-Man game in the works.
I mean, it took decades to reach this point and many of us were just used to the terrible licensed games Activision was putting out.
It was sad. Every single time one of those would be announced you had two choices:
1) Hope for the best and a change.
2) Be realistic and know that no love and real budget was being put into that game.
And, to be honest, it was painful.
Painful because we were missing out on years of gaming for our favorite character, and an incredible wasted potential.
And to this day, I don't understand how a company like Activision that can market huge sellers like COD and Destiny, could not realise how much money they could have made with this IP.
It is mind-blowing.
Talk about non-sense.
Just to give you an idea, Spider-Man 2 came out 16 years ago, and that is considered by many the best Spidey game ever made.
Yes, after that we did have some decent games like Shattered Dimensions, but even there, they were *decent*, but not games you could compare to some of the best received games on the market.
So, I find hilarious that a character that is a pop culture phenomenon like Spidey is only NOW getting a serious push as gaming mascot.
Why did it take so long?
Not his fault. Just alot of incompetence and many bad choices made by some executive guy.
But, I am happy.
I wanted to believe the rumors were true and I wanted to believe there was still hope.
That trailer is gorgeous, the music is fantastic, the animations are beautiful and the first look is super promising.
At this point, if everything goes well, I will look at Sony and Insomniac as the people that saved Spidey from being a mistreated cash grab cow.
And thank you too Marvel
