Revolver's voice makes no sense to me as a transition from Mgs3 to Mgs
had fun guys
Damn it. The powers at be will not allow me to see anything new.
Did you ever end up seeing the hospital scene like you wanted?
You know I've read a little bit more of the spoilers and I still don't know why people keep insisting there is a doppelganger situation going on
Yeah, I was beginning to think about MGS2 in relation to this game as well, and now I think it's alright if pretty hokey/crazy. Very excited to play this baby!Yet again another Reddit post makes a good case for the twist:
"Big Boss himself was a "nobody" soldier -- albeit a very well-trained nobody -- until Operation Snake Eater. Solid Snake was a "nobody" soldier until the Shadow Moses incident (remember, the Outer Heaven uprising was swept under the rug, and Snake disappeared after the Zanzibar Land incident). Even Raiden was a "nobody" soldier until the World Marshal incident.
And, speaking of Raiden, the entire point of the Patriots' plan -- well, one part of it -- was to prove anyone could become a soldier on par with Big Boss or Solid Snake under the right circumstances...and, the bigger part of the Patriots' plan, with the right information control. Going right back to what BB said at the ending of MGS4, it's one big cycle of propaganda, information control, and repeating scenarios to create one hero after another to eliminate their competition and/or threats as they are used, discarded, and demonized by those in power.
The entire game series is a nobody inhabiting (or, perhaps more appropriately, inheriting) the role of a legendary soldier. Big Boss inhabits/inherits the role of The Boss, after her legacy is defamed. Solid Snake inhabits/inherits the role of Big Boss, after Big Boss' legacy is defamed. Raiden inhabits/inherits the role of Solid Snake, after Solid's legacy is defamed.
Big Boss, basically, effects (if the leak is true) a prototype of the S3 program."
Looking at it from this angle I kinda like it now.
You could watch a hero's way for the 50th time. Greg uploaded a video of it.Damn it. The powers at be will not allow me to see anything new.

when the original Phantom Pain VGAs trailer came out (the one that wasn't explicitly marked MGSV) wasn't there a bunch of confusion over whether or not the bandaged guy helping the player was Kiefer?
Where are you getting the notion these characters are rookies or anything close to "random"?
The mother of the special forces herself trained Big Boss. Big Boss trained Solid Snake. Raiden went through the world's most advanced VR simulation training - effectively a substitute Solid Snake training him (who he then did more directly during the actual mission). None of this is remotely akin to an everyman or "random" soldier becoming a legend - they were all specially groomed for the roles they took.
...And then we get a comatose medic taking over for Big Boss, not only as a figurehead, but as an actual commando running the same kind of solo ops in the field that made Big Boss that made Big Boss a legend among other highly trained field operatives.
Remember, these top tier Boss/Snake soldiers weren't just legends, they were legends among other special forces units, who themselves were a league above your average grunt, which is where a field medic would be.
I don't remember that being said but then again I skipped around in the video.Mhh, didn't they say the E3/Gamescom demos of Hero's way are a shorter/different version? From the looks of it, this one is exactly the same. So they lied?

By reducing him to "comatose medic", you're literally ignoring the fact that:
-medics do have combat experience
-this medic is a part of big boss team and could've been trained by him
-two of big boss most trusted advisors are guiding him along.
In the mgs universe, that's more than enough

Very much so. Mother Base has a staff of 300 before it's destroyed. This man may be a trained medic by profession but the MB staff is highly trained and even trained by BB himself.

Coulda sworn I read somewhere it's one of the more talented soldiers that ends up becoming VS. OR maybe I imagined it..
Any more streams people?
Man, if any of the assumptions/theories in the this thread is true, I envy all the fans who are going in blind.
I will enjoy their rage after they finish the game. I will enjoy their moment of getting it. I will excitingly read their analysis over the next few years of why "Kojima has done it again" whether great or bad.
That feeling of betrayal and confusion mirroring what Venom is feeling at the end. Big Boss = Kojima. The closest I can get to that feeling will be hating Kojipro because I am frustrated with dying in the game. lol
Reposting a "Mission 46" picture:
(sighs)
Someone in the trailer thread just said "Maybe in this game we aren't playing as Big Boss."Seems like fans are getting really close as to what the twist will be. Especially after the trailer that dropped today.
It is very possible that Kojima faked that shot and added the horn for the trailer(definitely isn't the first time he's done something like that), especially since it looks so out of place and we know that Big Boss didn't have any shrapnel in his head during the emergency room scene. And in that picture you can see that he doesn't have a horn either.
So this picture doesn't really prove a lot... I mean if this is implying that the big boss that's getting his cigar lit, is the "real big boss" then why does the promotional version of him which looks a lot like this scene look like this "ahab" fellow?
Probably is just Kojima trolling with us! The Big Boss getting his cigar lit by Ocelot is the real one, he has no shrapnel/scar on his head.

They're getting closer.
The discussions and salt will be glorious. I'm almost as excited for that as I am for the actual game. lol
Hah hah. Launch period is going to be awesome/hilarious/perilous and divisive.Someone in the trailer thread just said "Maybe in this game we aren't playing as Big Boss."

Africa is a continentAre Afghanistan and Africa the only two open areas?
