Sometimes they mess up reallly reallly bad. Think about what think people want.

Really hoping the balance updates are free.
If they weren't it would defeat the point of just doing the disc by splitting the playerbase.
I fully expect Capcom to charge for characters, and do tons of fanservice costumes for people to spend more money. You can do that without discs (and since it's on Steam with crossplay, you'll have to)
I do think some of this is Capcom thinking that discs are going the way of the cartridge, sooner rather than later.
Only one disc? Well, that can't be right... I read from certain posters on here a few months ago that there'd be a Super SFV release so Capcom could release it on Xbox One.
Clearly this man is mistaken.
As pointed out in this thread, you've only need 1 disc since SSF4 but that didn't change Capcom renaming the new entrees. I don't believe at all that SFV will ever appear on the Xbone, but man you sure do love bringing this console war bullshit where ever you go.
To me, fighting game characters have always been as much defined by their background stages and their theme tunes as their appearances or fighting styles. It's part of the reason I love the genre and why they're probably going to be ingrained in my memory until I die.
For those complaining about disc updates, I hope you didn't care about Super Turbo or Third Strike. Street Fighter has always been updated and refined.
I'd hate for SF5 to end up being locked into a barebones disc and a bunch of DLC over the years, although it's pretty likely that it will eventually get a Ultra style release with everything on it for posterity.

Never did I say the dev was lazy. The typical game developer during active development works usually 10+ hour days.
You should read this thread linked below. Maybe you should get some insight before using the "lazy devs" bullshit excuse.

To quote from the topic above - "Lazy devs is a cop out so that you can criticize work without having to put any actual thought into your argument."
I'm sure there will be optional disc revisions with all the content as SSF4AE and USF4I would have liked there to be disc updates for every major revision to make things easy for tournaments, but I guess that's a limited concern and most venues have internet access now anyway.
Why can't they make stages based on characters!?
Wow, no Super, AE, or Ultra edition.
It's a lot of work for a lower priority feature. If given the choice, people would rather have that time and money spent on increasing the roster size.
I also imagine full 3D stages is a lot more work than the 2D stages in old Street Fighters.

We won't need to wait till EVO for that, SDCC next weekI guess we'll see a brand new character at Evo, we'll find out if the leaked list is real or not.
Yeah I think that is a key word in the statement.Read the PR again.
"You won't need another disc."
Doesn't mean there won't be another disc. I expect (and hope for) the AE/Ultra treatment.
Boo. Booooooooooooo.
I wouldn't expect a new stage for every DLC character that will inevitably come, but each character in the base game having their own stage doesn't seem like a big ask.

Could a bonus with 3D stages be resuse of assets in sequels. Like how Gridlock made it from Gears of War to Gears of War 2, then 3, each with cosmetic improvements.
Could be a lower-cost way to dramatically increase stage size by importing the SF4/SFxTK levels.
Do they really think Birdie is a cool design? What's the matter with you Capcom?

He looks awesome in SFV and has great animation, full of character.
Re: Karin
I wonder if Capcom already thought of making a new character that's based off her, kinda like how SNK did Nameless to get rid of K9999.
Guys, there W-I-L-L be other discs, but you will be able to update the base game with DLCs normally. That's exactly like Super Street Fighter IV onwards.

This is all great news; don't let the fans dictate the direction of the game and this should finally put to rest any "there's the backdoor" talks of an XBO port.
Too bad about chars not having specific stages but I can deal.
Both Capcom & a surprisingly-accurate leaker disagree. They're going with the League of Legends/Killer Instinct approach.Guys, there W-I-L-L be other discs, but you will be able to update the base game with DLCs normally. That's exactly like Super Street Fighter IV onwards.

It is lazy design.

That doesn't disqualify future disc releases, though.
It's pretty silly to think they won't release a collected disc at the end of each "season" should they go that route.
I hope there isn't paid character DLC. That would be dumb.
I think what they mean is that it won't just be poll winners in the game. We'll also see some lesser known characters as well.If they don't use the poll rankings then what is the point in creating polls in the first place? Something I never understood.

Sounds like that is what they are aiming for though, just one SFV.
If they start releasing Super and Ultra versions then it won't be any different than SFIV.
SFIV's roster ended up at 44, that is over double of what the first version of the game had. You expect them to do that for free?
