i really love my 3DS. the 3D effect itself is great, but i'd be digging the system just as much without it - i've bought like 10 games for the thing, not counting downloads, and the preloaded software is fun to the point where i hardly ever leave the house without it.
i think the only major reason to be down on it is the high price (relative to the tech), and that wasn't an issue for me. drop it anyway, add a mario or kart and the thing'll fly.
