This runs at a very acceptable speed now. Good job Nintendo.
So the operating system is actually fast now?
Good to know. I've not read the other 70 pages.
"faster" is a better term
So did you guys turn on the background download function? It asked me when the console restarted after installing the patch. I turned it off, because some people said it bricked their Wii or something. Seems like a nice feature though.
Less slow is even better
I didn't mean it in a demeaning way or anything, just a general comment that I've seen in the thread. In any case, nobody should be subjected to reading all 36 pages of this thread!
OH AND GOOD NEWS FOR EUROPEANS, all our VC launch games are the 60hz versions.
YEAH BOYEEEEeeeeeee......eeeeEEEEE

Where have you read this?
I can't wait to play a proper 60hz version of Super Mario World. It's going to be like opening my eyes for the first time.
Took me about half an hour to download, plus another 20 to install. It failed to update the gamepad first time, rebooted itself, tried again and succeeded.

I'm honestly excited for the Panorama View app.
How do you know that?
You have your answer.
Congrats. Wish we could get anything Picross in NA :'(So it's confirmed we're getting Mario's Super Picross in Europe?
YAY!
Downloaded the update in 15 minutes this morning before I went out. Got back, turned console on and it's auto installing. Coming up to 3-4 minutes and at 70% so not bad.

Does the update affect in game loading times, e. g. in Lego City ?

Its not really worthy off a new thread, so Im posting it here.
There is a new trailer for Splinter Cell Blacklist Wii U, and it looks like the Wii U version is quite a bit more than a straight port. Lots of gamepad features.

Sorry.
OMG, they fixed the systemwide overscan issues! I can see everything!!! Thank you Nintendo
One of the worst gaming myths in the existence. Also Wii U's doesn't work quite the same way anyway. As far as I can tell it can finish doing something but doesn't stay actively polling.
Everything went fine, but I did lock up at one point last night. Can't remember what I was doing (I think navagating to Miiverse). Other than that one lock, all good.
We'll have none of that 100pp nonsense here laddy
The results of that poll are pretty funny.

I turned it off as well. Just don't like the idea of keeping the console *awake* to some degree. Hearing people say they heard the fans running lightly while the console was "off" was all the confirmation I needed.
I turned it on and let the Rayman Legends Challenges download. After starting the download I was able to turn the console off and it completed the download in this state. The power light turns amber while doing a download and turns the console completely off when finished.
But lets say you turn off the system
The system keeps downloading stuff. You go to sleep
Suddenly, the power goes out in your house, while you sleep and the wiiu is downloading stuff
Is there risk of bricking the system?
