TITANFALL 2 Reviews Thread

I wonder if titanfall is a "fuck you " to activision and call of duty.

It's probably more like:

"We are a few folk passionate about making one type of video game and after our relationship with Activision soured we had no choice but to work on a new game with a different publishing partner"

The tech test did a number of things that gave people bad impressions, from the game types to the maps to the gameplay changes. Since then, we've had confirmation of better-liked gametypes, seen better maps, and some of the gameplay issues were even adjusted on the second tech test.

Why is the PC version so much lower scored compared to the console version? Hopefully not because of the lack of optimisation.

Only 4 sites are currently tallied for the PC version on Metacritic vs 15 for PS4. Too early to assume anything from that.

You can only tune so much though. For some people like me, the tweaking has helped. But the game still feels like a far cry from the first. A lot of the reviews are even saying the same thing. The MP isn't bad per se, but if you're expecting the same sort of style from 1 you aren't going to get much here unless you adapt to the new style.

That's not to say the game is automatically bad for doing such changes. Plenty of people here like the new take on MP. But on the same hand I don't gotta like it. If anything Titanfall 1 to Titanfall 2 kinda reminds me of Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 3 months. On the surface they're kind of the same game. But deeper down they're pretty different. I loved 2 but couldn't be bothered with 3s MP.

I do appreciate respawn listening to feedback. Nice to see a beta actually bringing changes. Makes me wonder how a TF3 could turn out.

Very excited. This is turning out to be a year of surprisingly high quality for first-person shooters in my eyes. Doom, Overwatch, Battlefield 1... All felt stellar to me. COD MWR releasing on top of all that is just icing on the cake, one of my favorites from the past generation and the last time I personally felt that COD was a top-class, GOTY contender game. Titanfall 2 is looking to be right up there for me, and I really enjoyed the two tech test weekends, though I maybe only got to play 4 hours cumulative during them.

The game is not that that different. The exaggeration is a bit much

Preload downloaded on xbone, can't wait. Almost wish I had preordered on ps4 though since I have a ps4 pro paid for and waiting on Nov 10th.

After the tech test I swore that I wouldn't get this day one... But fuck it, day one!!

Game sounds awesome and I think it's going to the the best shooter this holiday season.

What do you want me to add?

BTW, if I decided to buy the game, should I go with PC or Xbox? I heard PC population died within a month for the first one.

I think PC will last longer this time than before but x1 will probably last the longest.

Gamers temple: 87
Levelup: 87
Gamerevolution 80

ordering them from highest to lowest would also be nice =D

I'd have to disagree. It felt a lot different to what I was used - I've reached gen 10 on the 360 and XBO - but didn't like the way it felt and some of the gameplay choices they had made.

Which isn't to say it's a totally bad thing. The amount of people who complain about CoD feeling the same after every release makes the series feel linear. I guess having a game that feels different to its predecessor makes the series feel more fresh?

Do you have link for these?

I changed the order from the highest to lowest. I'm doing this game a favor more than EA. Where's my free copy :p.

Doom is probably the best campaign in a FPS game since HL2 Episode 2, that gameplay and level design (even knowing that is not as labyrinthic as the original games) is dope.

Which are the good aspects of Titanfall 2 campaign? I don't expect anything near my tastes knowing that is an EA game, and coming from the creators of CoD.

Good level design with at least a minimum exploration emphasis, health bar, more than 2 weapons at the same time...but i think i this game is not going to offer those aspects.

they're on metacritic.

and your order is screwy. you have scores of 90 below scores of 85. ;)

Hm, just take a look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkSSQw8c_2U

This is one of those moments where I wasn't planning on getting the game after the Beta reception (didn't play it myself, but played a lot of TF1)....then the 90+ scores start dropping and I'm all like "where's my credit card" XD

Exact same case for me. Except I have my CC memorized lol.

Good scores. Still don#t care for a lot of the changes they made to MP. Might pick it up in 2 to 3 months when it's on sale.I have a feeling will happen fast because of how it's sandwiched between BF1 and COD.

I'm afraid that this will go "unnoticed" because of CoD IW and Battlefield 1. I really hope this sells a lot and has a huge and consistend player base.

The Easy Allies review has me pretty sold on it. A shame that the capaign didn't turn out to be that great, though it still looks fun.

Damn, I'm really torn between this and Battlefield 1.
BF1 has been getting a better reception and I was surprised to hear that even the campaign seems to be fun. Plus several clips I've seen look amazing. But I'm not the biggest Battlefield fan, I feel like battles are either too chaotic because of all the players or then in other games modes you spend 10 minutes running towards the objective to be killed by some sniper camping on some building like 1000 miles away from you

This does also look really fun. But to me it looks pretty similar to Black Ops 3. I mean, technically the movement in Black Ops 3 was inspired by Titanfall one, but the point is that they look like very similar experiences

I'm no the hugest BF fan, but I bought BF1, and it is good. But my experience so far has been a lot of just what you are worried about. I'm probably just shitty at the game, but it's just OK for me. For me, it's all about fun factor. BF1 has its moments, but the actual shooting mechanics and fluidity can't hold a candle to what I've seen in Titanfall 2 so far.

To each his own.

I guess its down to what you prefer. If the big open battles of Battlefield don't do it for you and you prefer the more close quarters, tight combat of COD, then Titanfall has very similar gameplay, with a few tweaks to make it feel a little different, or you could go with the new COD if you want to stick to what you already know, if you enjoyed past COD games.

Seems to be a lot of choice for people who like shooters at the moment. I'm buying all 3.

Which is why I put the later half in it. Another comparison is Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 1. They're similar, but there are enough differences that fans of the first might not like the second.

No one has to automatically like the changes in place. Just like I said everyone is also free to enjoy 2 as well. But for me personally 2 doesn't give me the same feeling as 1. If it does for you that's fine, but it doesn't for me.

I mainly played campaign and attrition in T1. A big part of my enjoyment was the non lane maps and the mass amounts of AI and chatter that made the game feel like a warzone. Also preferred the mech style. T2 doesn't offer that. So yeah even if they're similar such small changes can impact people's enjoyment.

There's a multitude of other games I could list as well that are the same on the core level but different with other systems introduced or taken away.

I feel like you didn't even read my entire post, just wanted to call me out for disliking it. Which I have every right to.?

Oh wow reviews seem really great, might look into it. Played first game on PC and liked it alot, just hope community lasts longer this time if I do decide to get it :(
