First ever DriveClub direct feed racing footage (GamesCom)

smh, I don't get the 180s based on this footage. Much of what seems to be getting everyone excited about this new footage was apparent in the 35% build yet that was so disappointing, not next-gen enough, half-assed etc., etc.

No this is actually worse cause we've been looking at way better and clear footage of this build the whole day and it seems everyone is seeing the game for the first time with that crappy compressed video lol. And everyone finds it wonderful.. Go figure..

Nice to read all your comments :)

Are the environments set up like the WRC games?

Can we place barriers to make our own circuits / p2p routes?

What's the longest track in the game?

wow this just blew the socks off me! So much for next gen consoles not holding up to current high end PC gaming. Why cant the PC platform have a racer like this right now? I just bought a 3770k and a Sapphire 7970 OC Edition ...maybe i should of just went with a bare bones internet pc and used the rest of my cash towards more PS4 launch games if they are going to look this damn nice out of the gate, .

Really happy with the new footage. As someone who misses the hell out of the PGR series I have hopes that this game will be the one to fill in those blanks in the genre.

I love racing games! More accurately, I love arcade style racing games. I'd sell my soul for a 60fps HD remake of Burnout: Takedown (but I'm not holding my breath for that to ever happen).

This game has instantly moved up to the top of my 'must play' PS4 list.
Oooh sure, some arcadey racers are cool like Midnight Club LA which enjoyed and invested massive amount of time into, but this DriveClub does not look like that type of game. Either way, the game looks impressive for what it is

I always found it wonderful, this video only cleared my doubts on IQ as that isn't easily spotted on offscreen videos.

Many of the complains were just... dumb honestly.

Main problem with most of the off screen stuff is overblown colours, obtuse lighting, glare, blown out highlights etc. Direct feed still let's us appreciate the lighting better, even it is really compressed.

Direct feed video :)

...on Facebook :(

From what I can gather from a horribly compressed Flash video it looks like the game is coming together nicely.

Starting to look a lot nicer now, I do like their games usually so hopefully it will give me reason to upgrade the Plus version when I play it. Could really do with a better quality video though.

Evolution has clearly made great progress between the E3 and Gamescom builds. They have another 2+ months to go and I predict that the final game will look every bit as good as the various trailers they have released. I know many folks have doubted that, but crow will be served in due time ;)

Evolution team - Please, please release 1080p direct feed, high bitrate footage (not the lousy Youtube stuff). If you can do that, you will see your pre-orders go up. Too many people think the game is "nothing special" because they haven't really seen the game. Keep up the good work on the game and I look forward to playing it on Nov. 15th.

If anyone is confuse about the PS Plus version

Can you describe the PS Plus version for us?

Yes, the PS Plus version will be the exact same as the full version, except that it may be missing a few assets such as cars or tracks, that will be found in the full version. However the online multiplayer, the asynchronous challenges and the single player campaign will all be present in the PS Plus version. The PS Plus version gives us to the biggest open community, day one. This game is all about socialising.

If I have the PS Plus version, can I buy additional content?

Absolutely, you can buy any/all of the content that you want. You could download the PS Plus version and then decide that you want to convert this to the full digital version, then you can pay a sum of money and everything else will be delivered to you.

There's this weird dissonance between form and function in the two big racing games. Forza is the sim racer yet it looks slick and smooth and synthetic. And Driveclub is more of an arcade racer but it has a more natural lifelike look to it. Does anyone else see the disconnect here?

i'm gonna assume all these replies have some experimental decompression software that i've never heard of.

Wait wait wait, what are people so positive about suddenly lol ? It looks way worse than blim blim off screen vids to me.. This facebook vid is 2001 internet level..

Is there an other link ?

I think I might have (seen popup), but the compression is so bad, it honestly could have been just that.

hahaha this is so true its funny!
I have even tried youtube about a dozen times just in case it was still compressing/decompressing because I kept reading all the comments :D

For the same reasons you like the games you like.
I think that quote has been taken out of context cause if you see the rest of the post, i was infering more of these sim type racers. Played NFS shift, was ok for a while untill i got bored, GT5 demo was decent but still. Also i wasnt implying these games were bad cause i did acknowledge how impressive DriveClub looked

Is there a higher chase cam?

And I hope you can turn off those "barrier-like" checkpoints.
They feel like you're getting hit in the face.

Forza has always had this issue. It's due to the shaders, art, colour palette and use of baked lighting. The lighting IS artificial, clamped highlights etc, whilst DriveClub uses real time lighting and GI like levels of GT5/6 did/do as well.

The game looks amazing and it seems like it'll be getting even better.
These videos and the PS+ deal just convinced me to pre-order it now. Full Driveclub at 20€, two of the car packs and 50% off of PS+ seems like a sweet deal to me.

There's a big difference. Mainly in textures, amount of background detail, foliage etc. The backgrounds of the E3 demo looked bland, though the lighting, shadows and car model looked great. This new demo fixes past problems and just provides a much prettier backdrop. Still has frame rate and aliasing issues mind, but it's come a long way.
I'm not really seeing a major difference in texture or background detail, that isn't mostly accounted for by the difference in video quality between a direct feed and an offscreen capture. The new setting actually obscures more of the backdrop because there's more trees, so it doesn't give off as much of a sense of scope and roadside variation.

But these are the kind of things that people touting themselves as pixel-peeping experts should be able to properly compensate for in the first place.

One question if you can answer: In the trailers there is something different, is it some kind of post processing that makes it look even more life like? I hope whatever that is, it is added in the final release.

antialiasing plus object/motion blurring should do the trick

Maybe its the artstyle but i'am not impressed,

Though the trees have nice lighting and high poly count they dont look real to me at.Overall looks like a PS3.5 game.

Hmmm, it doesn't seem like Evolution has an official Youtube channel. Probably has to go through Playstation, which will take forever. :(

FUUUUUUUUUUUUU! That looks awesome!

MUST... RESIST... TEMPTATION! MUST.... IGNORE...30FPS... RACERS!

Edit:
That is some slick driving in the video.

Wait. So there is pop-in? I know there was mad pop in on reflections of the car when watching the videos that Blim uploaded. Because that facebook video is just baaad.

Does Facebook compress all video uploads this badly? jeesh.

It looks nice. Love the scenery. But it’s hard to tell much about the game’s IQ from that video.
