Don't really feel any different about it in this game, except maybe even worse now that it's part of the main challenges rather than something that was a specialized out of the way category before. While a good amount of them are basically lifted straight from the license tests (especially driving school), they do turn into events like the additional missions in GT4 and the later events in GT5 Prologue, that have actual races. Still not a replacement for career imo as I feel they were suited for what their original purpose was in the first place (additional challenges on top of an existing career mode and something to tide you over in a prologue). But still not every event is the exact same as the license tests. Can't really agree with you there, aside from rally related stuff, to me this is the best feeling game in the console sim genre.I personally found the physics/gameplay to not feel all that great in Forza 7, but our preferences clearly don't align as is clear with your physics.handling thoughts about GT. So I sincerely wish you the best of luck there. I wish I found FM7's gameplay to be fun, because then I would just buy that game and not bother with GT anymore if they keep going in this direction. But then again it has that lootbox crap so even if I did like it I wouldn't buy it unless that part of the game changed. Oh well. Either way, best of luck to you again.

I have played all the GT games to death (fav was GT4) so I really wanted to like this.

Normally I only play the online element of racing games to supplement the single player; just the odd few matches to tide me over. I really don't like it being the main focus. But that's just me. I won't be getting GTS, unless they add some kind of career mode dowm the line.

I noticed that some of you guys cannot save progress. Here is why...

Man, I have a feeling the server is gonna be problematic on launch day.

How do companies usually prepare for this kind of online games. They can only estimate how many people buy the game on launch day. And who know how much they expect the sales for GT Sport will be. Obviously even for the beta they're underestimating the player count.

I would hope Sony have this one under control, it's easy to underestimate a BETA a week out from release, but sales, I think they should have a good idea on what to expect and to cater for.

Well, besides all the server problems, I finally caved in and pre-ordered. This is the first GT I've played since GT Portable, and I'm in love with the handling of the cars, it feels so weighty and "real". Sport races are extremely fun, and people really try to be sportmanlike.

Cannot wait!

I'm so confused by the purpose of buying cars in this game if they're just given to you in sport mode. Also, is the final game not going to have any campaign? Just this challenge stuff.

Sorry, just super bummed by this demo. It's not at all what I look for out of GT game. I love how it looks and plays, but...man

Check your controller mapping, I think it's X by default.

Press in L3 is default.

Hazard lights are middle of the touch pad and then the left/right indicators are the left and right side of the touch pad respectively.

There are garage car events in mission challenge. In fact there's also a garage car sport mode daily today that I can't enter because I don't have a gr.3 car.

From having quite a lot of experience of working with performance testing, most clients either ignore it, dont properly plan for their load of think their solution is the bees knees.

This happened to me literally today. Client was using AWS lambda and were bragging that testing performance would just verify it scales up properly and we'd never be able to kill it.

We killed with with 50% of the load they expect at peak times.

the actual servers that handle the games are usually not the problem because these days cloud providers like AWS and the like scale automatically with demand.
The problem mostly are the intermediate servers like matchmaking and generell logon servers that cant be scaled that easily.
You can see this in most games where, once your in, you stay in mostly. same is in GTS everything surrounding the actual gameservers was having problems, while the evetn servers themself ran fine.
tldr: its complicated.

How are people avoiding getting hit in the rear and it messing up your Sr rating? I'm literally starting to pull off the line when people come near me as I'm wary of being shunted and it lowering my Sr rather than concentrating on racing or defending.

Online lobbies - friends only filter.

One of you needs to make the lobby then the rest can find it by name or by using the friends only filter.

Yeah it works very well actually, my friends and I gave it a go last night and it was a completely smooth experience.

Was way better than GT5, where on our event nights there would usually be at least one player that nobody else could see during the race (seriously) but who was actually there and racing, and there would always be people lagging out and teleporting around.

The manual save? Yeah, never worked for me either, but it saves automatically almost all the time anyway indicated in the bottom right corner.

Yeah it says so but when I went to see my profile it had not been updated/saved. Now the manual save didn't give error and everything was updated for real.

Will try to get some gametime in today. Sigh. I need to completely remake my gamestation if I want to use my (somewhat obsolete) T300RS now.

Should need to setup the PS4 on the same desk as PC + displays.

Only managed to do it once but this: I maintain pole for the first lap or until I see the pack has dropped off then allow the two or three behind to overtake, let them battle it out whilst staying clean but close enough to be able to get them on the final corners. Better if there are two because they will usually slow each other down. If you try keep pole or push the entire race you collect down arrows like crazy. If you can get second and third to fight it out between each other you can likely pull away enough to have an easy race.

Wow. An extra £50 just for a large clasp plate. The Wheel Stand Pro is £80, and the T150 compatible version £120

I'd get this one. Loving it. Don't know about T150 though, it isn't on the list.

The races should be up to ten laps, it would allow pulling off tactics like this more effectively and would do more justice for driving clean, even performance from the beginning to the end.

The radar in the MFD display is a godsend in these oval races.

Maybe it's for the best that the server bugged out and kicked everyone during the warmup then!

The front of the pack was actually clean in the race that was just on the oval. Went from 5th starting to 2nd finish.

So they don't give you a loan car for the Gr.3 race at Suzuka. If you don't have one in your garage then you can't race it. I guess that answers the question some had about what's the purpose of even buying cars if they give them to you in Sport Mode.

I only got a few Sport races in, was usually in a lobby with friends. First two races were a bit of a shocker but since then got three wins from pole with no contact at all so ended up in DR: D and SR: B. Pretty happy with that, might try and get my 26 miles done today at lunch and then the long wait till Tuesday at midnight!

Yep, for entry it can say either "garage cars" or "specially provided cars".

I have spent 7 hours with the Beta and I somehow feel obliged to buy the full game now. ;)

This is my first racing sim game since GT3. I'm having a blast. I'm not the biggest car or racing enthusiast, but this game is pure car-porn. Just chillin' in the showrooms is worth 15$ alone and Scapes is zen.
