Man, I am just writing down records of my life. Unless you are in my house Flynn. Are you my roommate Mark?

Damn, those would be my picks too. Have you heard of R.e.m.'s cover of Pale Blue Eyes? It is amazing.
Watching some of the youtube videos at the moment, what happened to Michael Stipe's hair, it was long and lush? :'(

It's refreshing to see somebody going to bat for this album.
Is this it gets a lot of hate, but it was one of the first albums that influenced my current taste. When this album first came out it was a breath of fresh air, I don't think the Strokes will ever be that good or important again, but they're a great band nonetheless.

Some good teams shaping up here. I still like Kara's, although I would've taken Sgt Pepper (and maybe Revolver) over the White Album.
Instead of picking the best album available, I'm picking from my pre-draft rankings. I didn't expect to have access to either of those albums, especially in the second round, so the White Album it was. Doesn't hurt that that's my favorite Beatles album, either. :D

He shaved it after Fables of Reconstruction which they recorded in the winter of England and he just sort of lost it right afterwards and shaved it. God, I feel like a R.e.m. dork for knowing that.

Wow, lol, these are the only ones I've fully heard.

Dream Theater - Images and Words
Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Metallica - The Black Album
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Muse - Black Holes and Reveations
Slayer - Reign in Blood
No offense, but you need to get out more. Or maybe stay in. ;)

Aw man, I was sure this would last a few more rounds. Damn.

Pogue mahone, hXc.

I'm just flying by the seat of my pants. I really don't think I have a chance of winning so I'm just going for a team I can be proud of.

Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel?

How can you know for sure?
Well, from the bits I've heard. I guess I can't for the ones that I haven't heard anything from. But I have no intention of listening to them as it stands right now.

You're doing very little to change my pre-conceived notions of people who like Muse.

Ford Prefect

GAAAAAAAAY
wait what the fuck I just realized there's one album in particular I thought someone had already picked but they hadn't and that should have been my #2!!!!

Shit, I just know someone's gonna pick it before I get the chance.

Muse is one of the few non-metal bands I like.

I love metal, but if you only listen to one kind of music you'll grow weak and malformed like one of those blind cave frogs that breathes poison. You don't want to be a mutant cave frog, do you?

Yeah dude, invent a time machine so I can take your Low from you. :lol

Well, you should make sure and get here for the midnight grind then where magic happens. I totally thought that Daydream Nation was going to get snagged in the first round but I was wrong about that one.

You know what is weird is that I was able to get these guys who were way into metal to start like harsh noise because they were talking about how metal this band was and I was like, "Dude, listen to this. This is more metal than metal" and it was Masonna's song The Beast and they started to freak out.

Maybe NameGenerated needs to listen to some Cock ESP, Werewolf Jereseum, Merzbow, Masonna, and Wether? Huh? What say you dude?

Here is a Masonna live video:

So, I know there is still a week to go before all teams are formed, but do you have any idea how the tournament thing is gonna go, AU?

As per judging team vs team, I think it would be wise to look at each album and maybe assign it a numeric score and have the person with the highest total at the end as the winner. This just seems like the right way to do it. Better that than someone looking at a team and saying, "Hmm, I think I like your team better solely because of x album."

Do one "battle" per day or something like that and try to see what kind of turnout you get from the GAF crowd.

Hmm, that is an interesting method. Point systems for every album. Like maybe every album people can vote up to 3 points on a scale of how they like it (3 being they love it, 2 being they think it is generally good, 1 being that it is average, and 0 thinking that it is poor) and then have daily threads for each match up. I guess if we did that then that would take about 30 days for the tournament from start to finish. Perhaps we can break it up into 4 matches per day so it would only take 8 days to do the tournament. That doesn't sound so bad actually. What do you guys think?

Wherever I May Roam is indeed fucking awesome. But I still give Unforgiven the slight edge. :)

From Thriller.. sure, that's a good one too. But I like the video for Billie Jean too much.

And if you're picking something to show off Highway 61 Revisited, I think it's required by law to be Like a Rolling Stone.

Alright time to hype up my list then with one track to sell each album.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Holland 1945
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCjpbjCH5L0

Daft Punk - Discovery
Face to Face (yes, this is my favorite track from the record)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DFZn56UcVQ

Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Teenage Riot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdeTQPgh9SE

I agree with all of these except Aeroplane's... my fav is "Oh, Comely".

My true favorite is King of Carrot Flower pts. 2 and 3 but I don't know how people would feel to the opening of Jeff hollaring out his love to Jesus Christ even though it turns into this bombastic fuzz fest.

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea however is in my opinion the best falling in love with Anne Frank WWII tragedy concept album ever.

JESSSSSSS CHHRRRIIIIIIIIST IIII LOOOOOVVEE YOOUU YESS, I DOOOOOooooooooooOOOOOOOO *byoooooooooooowwwwwww* *crash*

The simple truth is, most of these records if I put them on they are just playing through. Its near impossible for me to really pick a favorite song and not feel like I actually like another song more given a certain circumstance...

Long live the art of the album.

Oh yeah, that is the real truth about this thread is to pick albums that are great through and all through out. I just have a knack for picking songs since I used to be a college DJ.

That Nina Simone album was recommended to me many years back when I started really getting into the Durtro catalogue after falling in love with Current 93 and was super obsessive with Antony's first album. Also, Antony did a cover of Be My Husband when I saw him in New York many years back too.
