Spider man 2. Its ok, not really my thing, even though I like a lot of the Marvel movies. Definitely benefits from VRR and then can look good whilst keeping a decent frame rate. Really glad you can use wings now. No game play bugs as such so far, though its hard locked up my PS5, which isnt great for a first party title. Especially this far out form launch.

Probably going to do both Star Wars Jedi games next.

FF7 Rebirth is incredible so far. It feels so good exploring the world, very faithful rendition of the planet, the design, the attention to detail, the expanding of characters and lore. Everything is so damn well made. I love that you can see glimpses of the life stream sipping out of the ground. The combat was overwhelming at first but I've spent a couple of hours getting up to snuff and it plays so good. Loving this game so far. I was a huge FF7 fan growing up so to see a remake of this high quality is pretty fucking amazing 🤩

I haven’t posted in a while because I jumped deep into Nier Replicant ver1.22. About to get ending E and be done. Probably moving to Automata.

The best part with Rebirth is that I went in basically blind, aside from the premiere trailer. Seeing the world unfold, not knowing how Square has approached it, is sort of a magical feeling. It's familiar but also brand new. Coming out from Mythril Mines and seeing Junon for the first time is a sight to behold. It really feels like you are on an adventure, and the synergist abilities when you fight makes it extra so. Like you're best friends helping each other out. The game is also very pretty. One of the best looking games I've seen so far.

I played a bit of Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry. Didn't enjoy it as much as Black Flag, but I like new weapons they added. Not a fan of upgrades and missions gated behind tedious side activties though

I also just started Alone in the Dark reboot. Picked Emily as a main character and completed the first chapter. I like it so far. Combat feels too clunky for my liking, but atmosphere, the setting and voice acting is stellar. Nice detail that each of the notes are fully voice acted, I also dig the narrated story recap in the menu and how it provides some additional context

Playing some Guild towers in Injustice 2. Forgot how good it looks...

I finished Giana Sisters 2D on Steam Deck. It is apparently a port of the mobile version of the DS game. The game itself is fine except for when it loads the incorrect stage. I think 2 to 3 times during my game it fed me the same stage consecutively and i got credit for beating the wrong stage.

I knew this before buying for $1.59 but, man...

I'm gonna try Spyro Trilogy next. Please don't be ass hard like the Crash one...

Half-Life 2 VR

The recent news that PSVR2 is coming to PC got me to hook up my HTC Vive again. HL2 VR is shockingly good at this point and I'm now thinking that I should get a PSVR2 while it's on sale.

I'm also replaying Hellblade in VR before I start HB2.

Finished Immortals of Aveum. There are tons of things that I dislike about it and it is mostly related to shitty, sub-Whedonesque writing and a lot of uninteresting mumbo-jumbo lore but in the end I enjoyed my 20 hours with it. Latest updates really helped the look and performance on XSX.

Humanity - haven't played all that much but this brings joyful memories of playing Lemmings 30 years ago on my friend's PC. I think I will just take it easy and do a level or two a day.

Lords of the Fallen - It is totally fine - I like the lamp schtick. Didn't hook me the way Lies of P did, but I might try to get back and play it all the way through.

Redout 2 - I was a huge fan of Wipeout back in the day so this is kind of the closest I can get at the moment. Seems to a bit more polished than the first game.

Rolling Hills: Make Sushi, Make Friends - Just fooled around with it for a while together with my daughter. Like a more primitive version of Overcooked but way more chill and less stressful.

Finished Rise of the Ronin. I really enjoyed it.

Started Mad Max 2015 and bailed after 2 missions. The character controls are sluggish, the combat attempts to be like Arkham games but the camera just doesn't help, was getting hit by enemies off-screen that I couldn't even see. And the vehicle controls were extremely twitchy, so I bailed.

Not sure what I am going to play next. May go finish some gta5 side missions.

Yakuza 5

Playing through 'EXTRA HARD' mode. Honestly, Shinada should've been the successor of the main role in the series instead of Ichiban imo.
That is too hard for me. As far as Shinada, I really like the character and his interactions, but when everybody else uses their melee weapons better than him despite him being a specialist and his specials have no rhyme or reason it doesn't sit well with me. I would say that Tanimura in Yakuza 4 was a more fun character to play.

Definitive mode for the game imo. Thus far, I'd rate Y3's 'EXTRA HARD' to be more difficult compared to Y5.

I think Shinada's backstory and moveset, plus how he honors baseball bats in battle, set up a cool origin story RGG studio could've chosen to pursue and build on.

I finished Link's Awakening. Great game. I was surprised by but enjoyed seeing the implementation of 2D sections in the dungeons with goombas and mario bros. enemies. The only area of the game that didn't interest me was Dampe's dungeon creator. Had zero motivation to go through it all, even with rewards for doing them.

Since then I've played through Limbo, Inside, and briefly went back to Animal Crossing New Horizons. Kind of waiting for a good deal on an indie game. I still haven't played Hades. If Rime would go on sale on the nintendo e-store I'd totally buy it and replay. Same with Sexy Brutale.

Finished Hellblade 2, loved it besides the puzzles, and now I’m back into Elden Ring and it’s still the best game ever after Super Metroid. 5th playthrough and I’m somehow still finding new stuff. Best world design ever!

I still need to play this, only it'd have to be on my laptop which I'm not sure would be capable.

Probably 16 hours into Rise of the Ronin. Thinking about quitting again.

Combat is fun, really enjoyable. I like the simplified / arcade vibe of the fights and the parries. Every fight I tend to have fun. There's a large amount of weapons, and styles. I do still think the graphics are a little rough, but it's generally a cool setting to look at and tour around in. It is different enough from Ghost of Tsushima in time period and execution to be interesting. Way more buildings and city spaces.

I just haven't been really enjoying any of the navigation around the world, the level design is very cumbersome and you spend most of your time either hitting steep walls you can never jump up to climb, or running around blind trying to find a rare grapple point since they are so incredibly limited. I literally just put everything on auto-run literally all the time, which lets me check my phone and is slightly relaxing, but isn't the best solution for a game. Story is pretty nonsensical, with extremely poor voice acting. Missions are all extremely simple and bland. Stealth is functional, arcadey fun, but nothing amazing.

Overall though, I totally see the appeal. It's got enough fun combat and Japanese virtual tourism to please fans of that, kind of a modern day swimming in 7s Way of the Samurai, but way bigger in scope with a ton of repetition. It just feels like this could go on for another 60 hours without a lot actually changing. Will fire it up again and see how much progress I make over the weekend.

Guess I'm at the beginning of chapter 2 of 3.

I just finished Stray. What a charming little game. I really liked it. I suppose some people would gripe that the gameplay was too easy, I was just fine with it. I prefer to feel relaxed and entertained when I play a game, not stressed, so this suited me fine. It wasn't overly complicated. They kept mixing things up enough to keep me interested. The story was good as long as you don't think too much about it (ha). It was sweet and wholesome in a way I don't see in games much lately. And it was the perfect length - 8 hours in my case. It didn't overstay its welcome, and it wrapped up perfectly. Well done, dev's. 9/10.

Rise of the Ronin act 2 is winning me over. A couple cool movie style cutscenes. Edo is sick as hell. Really cool city. Makes you realize how much that was lacking in Ghost of Tsushima.

Humanity. I am not a massive puzzle fan.

It's ok so far.

I need to get back to this at some point. Probably just over halfway and put it down for other stuff, but it was really enjoyable. Some of the optional levels are really hard.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
I love this game, never thought i would like a Kirby game that much.

I have been debating, I'd bite at $30 but not at $40 with the backlog I've built up. Is it really that good?

Playing FF7 Rebirth now and the game is pretty great so far. The world building is incredible. To see FF7 like this in a fully realized 3D world is pretty amazing. But the combat feels very complicated and bloated. You got normal attacks, blocking, synergies, limit breaks, spells, atb, summons, parrying, fifteen different button prompts, tutorials, switching characters, weapon abilities, yada yada all while keeping scores on your enemies moving around. I don't remember Intergrade being this fucking complex. Been playing for 10 hours and new information keeps coming up about everything. Jesus Christ Square Enix, try not to trip over yourself in your ambitions. Reel in your ideas a bit.

I loved Rebirth but agree 100% combat was better in Remake. It was a bit slower, more strategic. Rebirth just has way too much shit going on, and while it's nice you don't need to utilize every aspect to win a fight, it just doesn't feel as good.

Playing Rebirth in 2024 is what playing FF7 felt like in 1997. I couldn't believe the quality and the scale.

And ending E done. That was… interesting. Was it worth the grind? Personally, no.

Best way to have done this is release order: Replicant endings ABCD --> Automata endings ABCDE --> Replicant ending E

I was going through my PS2 backlog/bucketlist and I settled on Rogue Hearts Dungeon. It’s a rogue game where if you die it’s back to level 1. It’s been a lot of fun once you get a chance to survive. I recommend this one for anyone looking for a good import.

I was enjoying Blood Will Tell and Bujingai. They are great games for their time, but time hasn’t done them any favors.

Finished AC Freedom Cry replay. I forgot most stuff about it and for a good reason, it's quite bland in comparison to Black Flag. I liked new weapons and how they changed in-game mechanics to fit the themes of the narrative, but unfortunately main story was quite boring

I'm currently bouncing between Alone in the Dark reboot and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space remaster. Already written my impressions about AitD in this thread, I really like it so far. As for Sam & Max, just started episode 2

I played Devil May Cry 5 in Devil Hunter and Son of Sparda. I think 3 is still better "package" and summarization of the franchise, buuut dmc5's combat is one of the best of the genre by far. Great, GREAT game.

I still believe DmC is criminally underrated.

Still chipping away at SKALD, some Grounded co-op with my daughter and some casual Streets of Rage 4. Already had it on disc but now have it on PS plus.

Looks cool, reminds me of the Shiren The Wanderer games.

23 hours into Rise of the Ronin. I'm dropping it, seen enough. I think I got about 1/2 way through chapter 2. I couldn't finish Ghost of Tsushima either despite generally enjoying it. Just too much repetition.

Combat is a ton of fun, just doesn't have enough depth to keep me hooked past 23 hours. Despite the graphics not being AAA, their portrayal of Japan is really well done. You get to see so much more than in Ghost and its not even close. Tons of interesting buildings and nice views.

Overall, a generally enjoyable game and a great chance at digital tourism. Just a bit too shallow and repetitive for the length of the game. 7.5 / 10.
