NeoGAF, welcome to .webm - the FUTURE (of burning out your CPU)

Is there a way to stop autoloading? I guess that would be a feature for the browser itself, tho. The other possibility being, the video tag only getting embedded when the user clicks on the link, but then there'd be no preview thumbnail. It would be nicer than opening the video in a separate page.

Firefox Addon:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/webmneogaf/

Works on my machine (FF28, Windows 7)
It has the controls right on the video enabled, so you can skim through the video or toggle audio. Left clickling stops/plays the video.
It will only load the metadata of the video, so you have to manually start the video - your CPU will love this. ;)
The autoplay property in the addon preferences isn't implemented yet.

If you encounter any errors or problems, tell me about it.

that puzzling face
So it appears multiple instances of the same asset (e.g. from quoting, etc) load and render separately, making for an ungainly resource footprint. This could pose problematic in GIF (yeah, gonna need a new term for that) threads where people quote a particularly good one nonstop.

I think the best implementation would be to play-on-hover and click-for-sound.

Also realizing belatedly that I probably went a little overboard on bitrate for those Sanic webms.

Those Sonic gifs O_O

(lol I just caught myself calling them gifs)

The ability to do 60fps is going to make games look so good in NeoGAF threads haha

Oh, can the author of WebM for Neogaf add this option:
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_video_preload.asp

We should be able to disable preload with this tag.

Really mindblowing stuff, but perhaps too good with all the 60fps... I think we need to offset the goodness with some webms of Blighttown.

Hmm. I get a fair bit of stuttering when there are multiple .webms on one page. On mac mini intel core i5.

Some show up just as black too.

edit - or maybe the stuttering is just as they're loading... (?)

Can't believe the tyranny of stamp-sized 8MB .gifs with 256 colours are over.

This is actually fantastic.

edit:
It autoloads all webm videos so people with a bandwidth cap, beware!

Refused to work for me on FF28 Win7 64-bit for some reason :( Shows up as installed, but I still only see links.

Is there anyway to stop the auto-loading? I'm guessing not since you would have already implemented it if there was.

I don't have bandwidth caps, but would like for it to not auto-load.

EDIT: Wait, thought you meant it loaded the webm file without actually clicking on it.

Could you implement a toggle for click to play instead of auto-play?

If you install Imagus on Chrome, you can mouseover the webm files and it loads them in overlay, pretty cool.

Plus it allows you to full screen, center, save, send, it shows you the video controls, speed up or down, pause, and a bunch of other stuff, all with keyboard shortcuts.

I feel like I'm part of some kind of major change in current history. This is probably more important to the vast majority of people than most of the dumb political stuff going on anywhere in the world for the past 10 years. webm for life.
