I actually really hope this is true.
But its most likely fake.

*sigh* I really do hope Sony announce something at gamescom about the firmware updates.

Found the 2015 edition:

Nice work.

That reflection though, what is this, 2005 iTunes?

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Isnt this just like the Xbox One 'fake' new UI from a while ago. This seems like a popular exercise for certain media trainees.

Folders would suck.

Folders that have to be manually created is a bad solution. I'd rather automatic filtering and sorting implementations. List by release date, last purchased, last patched, alphabetical, "favorated/Starred" etc.

Does anyone have a problem with Steam big picture mode? Works great and I don't need to manually organize stuff.

Folders you say? Sounds like they finally hired a UI designer, neato!
Happened months ago:

Dan Ristic @dristic101 Mar 18 2014 Great first day at Sony today. Excited to make the PlayStation experience better along with @don_olmstead

Dan Ristic was very involved with WebRTC. "He is passionate about front-end engineering" = Developing the framework applications use on the PlayStation platforms. Don Olmstead wrote the WebGL UI framework for the PS4 not the actual UI.

WebRTC Data Channel Dan Ristic - Developer Evangelist

These might be fake but for sure UI updates are coming.

Yeah confirmed for fake. Shame too, much of it looks like a big improvement.

But I'm sure we can expect much more stability and bug fixes in the future.

Must be missing something small, where are you seeing reflections?

The Bloodborne square is reflecting on the surface. It's reminiscent of apple's coverflow, a style that has been crazy prevalent in webdesign/UI design the last couple of years.

Aah, that's not a reflection though, it's a flat gradient so you can see the writing.

Hey, you're right, it's not actually a reflection, it just looks like it. My point still stands though.

Fake or not, I just really really hope we get an UI overhaul. I like the approach with the icons and such, but they need to allow us to create categories or have some pre-defined categories or something. Right now the front of mine is a mess.

Yes. Even my old PSP can do this.

Ouch..that's harsh when you consider even the PSP has more customization then the PS4.

Isn't the PS4 the first console of all the Sony consoles to be designed in the West rather then in Japan. I wonder if this design philosophy also tailored to the OS design as well which explains being a more substance over flash sort of thing. Although you would think basic features the previous generation console had would give them a baseline for the PS4 in terms of feature set regardless of the architectural differences.

Unfortunately the lack being able to organize or seperate media applications from games, or being unable to delete unwanted software in the library leaves much to be desired. Even if they don't implement folders. I just don't want stuff like Netflix or the Internet browser taking up the same page as my Games. I'd like to have all of my games in it's own category, and non-gaming apps on a separate page.

Hopefully, Sony will do something if the complaints get numerous enough to address.

This looks great! Screams fake though. As I've seen someone mention here before, it could be for internal use (mockups) but then there's people apparently from Sony denying it. Another thought I've had is... What if Sony are just testing the waters and seeing what the reaction is like? Releasing these images with flaws to identify them as fake just makes you put it in the back of your mind, in a sense it doesn't ruin the surprise. It's a stretching theory but it would be so nice if these were real. :)

The video really doesn't look official, just the way the UI elements animate in compared to the current iteration, I mean they could change it but the animations look too fast? (if thats the word I'm looking for). Not the hardest thing in the world to animate these elements either. I Love the whole polished feel of it all though, the contextual trophy notifications are brilliant and it's definitely what the PS4 UI needs. Whoever did this needs to get some recognised credit IMO and Sony should take note. Can't wait till Gamescom to find out once and for all.

thanks,

Brad.

Thats kind of a problem with the current UI.

On the xbox you have Games & Apps which you launch and all is seperated, on the dashboard there are only your Pins.

Sony would have to do something similar, as I cannot see the current UI devide games & apps properly.

If you press down => details, press up => Messages / Settings ect. => How would you devide games & apps ?

First I've seen of it but that means nothing. Flagged the thread but nobody is at HQ until Monday.
Even if this is fake, *please* pass on the fact that having Folders would be a fucking brilliant idea for the next OS update! The XMB needs to be decluttered :)

This is fake but I wish it weren't :(

I want folders in my life. Might head to Office Depot or something later in protest to Soony's ways.

I am a bit bummed purely as it would show me they are actually doing stuff. I'm a bit bummed we haven't seen a substantial update since launch. Not sure I want folders though.

i don't see why they didn't make it at least similar to the ps3's ui. I loved it!
I could get to any of my content very quickly and it wasnt cluttered.

Wait my media apps are already in a sort of folder?.

If this was real I just wish they would give me some custom themes/wallpapers. The PS4 just isn't the same without some big boob wallpapers as my background.

All of these changes seem to be have been made so that you don't need to go to the home screen first before picking up invitations etc.

Which feels dated and cumbersome now. If I get sent an invite, I want to be able to respond immediately.

So I hope these are real.

Folders would also be good, That scrolling system will be a real pain in the ass in a couple of years when your library is much larger.

Can someone find a video of how it works now? I'm interested.
