NPD Sales Results for February 2015 [Nintendo Numbers, Majora's, MH4, ~XB1]

Because they want to mention a game that sell worst than The Order.
How can you be so sure? Dark Souls 2 did 1.2M in three weeks even with people waiting on the PC version....
I'm not saying it will or will not do 500k but it's not out of the question. There is a good market for these hardcore action games on console, combine that with the people who have no clue and will buy Bloodborne on hype/PS4hasnogames. It could happen.
Sony had The Order release to boost sales. I think MS had Screamride, but that's pretty inconsequential.
It went back up to $400 for like 10 days.

Why does that press statement make it seem like PS4 won hardware sales when 3DS was #1.

Nintendo is on fire, all they need to do is release a all new 3ds model that plays exclusive games + a remake of a beloved 15 year old game every month for a few years, and they will get close to the original DS numbers. Should do 1 exclusive game per new system, and make them all limited so scalpers can have a field day with them. Good job iwata, keep it up.

Awesome sales for everything pretty much. Even Wii U is up slightly (Smash & MK8 doing the leg work).
Absolutely amazed by the Majora's Mask 3D, MH4U and 3DS sales. 395K is way above my expectations =).
Why is anyone seriously complaining about different versions of the same model for the 3DS? You should have been complaining about this like the minute various Slim versions released, the DS Lite released, etc, not now. Now I'm pretty sure anyone who brings this up is just salty, or doesn't realize the New 3DS basically is just the DSi (faster processor, some functional upgrades (stable 3D vs. DSiWare shop), and an exclusive or two (Xenoblade 3D port vs. entire DSiWare shop)).

New exclusive TPS IP, like The Order.
Good reviews, but failed to chart as high as The Order (which got shitty reviews).
How is it surprising? Sony has market leadership, many will want the system there friends are on. I doubt folks are willing to pay for 2 subscription models, and Sony have proven themselves to offer great value with PS+.

Dark Souls 2 did 1 mil in 3 weeks on two consoles with incredibly large install bases. BB is a new IP, though still very much a Souls game all things considered, launching on one console with a fraction of the number of 360 and PS3 consoles combined. Seems highly unlikely to me. I'll gladly eat my hat next month if I'm wrong.

15 days (half the month) or 10 days, is irrelevant. I'm just surprised the cheaper console isn't outselling the PS4.
Microsoft had a marketing deal with Evolve no? I highly doubt The Order was the main reason, but hey anything's possible.

It still wouldn't count towards the rankings though. NPD doesn't include software bundled with hardware in the software top ten.

Glad to see the Wii U almost getting into six digit territory. Really deserves to sell more based on its lineup.
Indeed, it would have been better served as a summer release.
But MS's penchant for stuffing all their AAA exclusives in a heavily competitive 3 month time frame ruined SO's prospects.
