Sony won't be holding a press conference at Gamescom 2015

Solange Uncharted 4 in irgendeiner Weise am Sony-Stand vertreten ist, ist alles im Lot.

As long as they have some kind of Uncharted 4 presentation at their booth....

I'm sad.. It could be my first attempt on Sony's Briefing :( I'm gonna kill Sony when they dont offer us to play UC4..

But for me there are 2 theories:
1. Sony gonna announce nearly everytjing at E3, so they will be no stuff for GC
2. More Announcements & Attention at Pariser week

Germany is Sony's turf. The move is quite understandable

It's not like people in Germany will buy/not-buy a PS4 because of an English-language press conference streaming internationally happens to be broadcast from an event in Germany.

I don't really understand what Sony's reasoning is with this decision.

Why is Gamescom only taking place 6 weeks after E3 this time? Will it seem like a rehash of E3 taking place that soon?

gamescom gets scheduled in coordination to North Rhine-Westphalia school holidays. It usually takes place in the last week of those.

Thus said: gamescom 2016 will most likely be from Aug. 17-21 2016

Well, why copy&past 'ing the E3 conference just to have a second conference 6 weeks later after E3, with the same announcements/news, etc.?

Sony will be there. Their games will be there.
There just won' t be a conference, 6 weeks after E3.
Makes absolutely sense, imo.

Es tut mir leid.

I think I get what they're thinking. With E3 and gamescom only 6 weeks apart its getting tricky to have enough announcements for both events and from PR impact standpoint it also doesn't make much sense to have another huge conference only 6 weeks after E3.
So they rather have another conference before the holyday season.
Its reasonable, but it also sad that we don't get to ride dat GC hypetrain this year. No TLG announcement at GC confirmed.

how high are the chances that Sony will show us many megatons ?!
Look, they have maybe no 1st Party games for Holiday, so why dont they shock us with many teasers and hype us.
They could tease all E3 long, Internet could explode, and at PSX they could show some Gameplay.
This could be maybe more important also better if they release some games in holiday

Makes sense. Shows games at E3. Spread that out to Gamescon. Then you still have TGS then stuff in October and possibly PSX again. Gives Shu and Adam enough time for Broforce hehe.

IMO Last years GamesCom Briefing was really bad. It was a pain to watch. No real AAA showings and mostly about Indie.
Wont be missed if they go all out at E3.

I'm not finding this word in my copy of the Oxford English Dictionary.

Edit:

For those of you who aren't reading;

Gamescom and E3 are only 6 weeks apart this year.

Sony will still be at Gamescom, they will still have some smaller announcements, but there won't be a conference AT Gamescom.

They are still holding a conference, it is just moved to another event a bit later (Paris games show)
That's not nice, bread.

I could be dyslexic.

Sure; Phil Spencer says a thing. Whether they'll follow through is a different matter though.

Of course they'll follow through.

If last year was any indication of their model, Gamescom for them was basically E3 Director's Cut.

Extended footage of stuff they showed at E3, some new footage, and basically announcements that was left out of E3 because every conference needs at least one 'new' announcement.

...I'm not surprised you would say this, but you know how opinions work. I think gamescom was great last year. Alienation and Helldivers were there. The first is a lot of fun and he next one seems like it'll be great. Wasn't Wild and Tomorrow's Children there as well?

I don't even remember what Microsoft showed during their Gamescom conference last year, and I watched it live. It seemed like the whole thing was defined/overshadowed by that Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusivity deal, which isn't the sort of announcement you want viewers to remember the most once the curtains close.

There were 3 'new' things at MS's Gamescom last year :

Game Announcement : Screamride
Gameplay Debut : Quantum Break
Megaton : Lara Croft Rises Exclusively on Xbox, Holiday 2015

I hope E3 is much meatier as a result. Not necessarily more big announcements, but I'd really enjoy a 2.5-3 hour conference (Sans shit like Wonderbook).

Hellblade & Abzu too.

Just not sure why people are freaking out. It's not like Sony won't be there at all, they'll still be on the floor and they can still do Press releases during the show...

The "big reveals" will just be at either E3 (early June), TGS (early September) or Paris (late Ocotber) this year, that's all. Gamescom will be for trying stuff out on the show floor.

Cup head annouce at Gamescom right?

If the game isn't made by at least *X number of* people, is aimed towards a mainstream audience, and *insert reasons*, it's not AAA.

Some of you get really salty when other people dont like this small games aka Indie games it seems. Something i noticed a lot on the internet since the PS4 is out.

And some people couldn't get a joke.

Guess I'm still not well-known enough to do it without a /s or /jk behind.

Protip : If I somehow found something you said offending me, I'll confront and reply to you directly, and not do it via a proxy-post.

This is a really good idea in my opinion. 6 weeks apart is too short, spreading it out to October is good!

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
But their Gamescom conferences are always sooooooo much better than their E3 conferences. I expect them to seriously deliver with PlayStation Experience now. Even more so than they did last year.

Never heard of Paris Games Week. Good job putting it on my radar lol

Why can't they deliver in Paris? They're just pushing it because E3 and gamescom are close this year.
