Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 is much, much better now. Bless.

They won't.

http://shoryuken.com/2015/05/27/cap...n-playstation-4-until-launch-issues-resolved/

I read that. I wasn't assuming they would. It's weird that they couldn't get someone to engineer the game with a specific driver and a controller. Syncing a controller would come with the console's infrastructure right? Unless they weren't planning on porting games with fight sticks when they were developing the PS4. I assume SFV will have fight sticks and some issues resolved.

I went a head and got the PS4 version because I have the PS3 version of Ultra. I've had each version since 2008. I just wonder what its going to take to fix this? Can it be fixed? Since it's a digital port you could possibly pull this old one and make a new one? Could one update fix all these issues? If I was Capcom I would look at having a senior engineer or programmer (someone!) looking at how they are going to move forward and fix these issues. I got it last night, so it's still installing.

Where did you find USF4 reference?

I clearly stated which version in my post - SSF4AE ;)

ssf4ae was fine, it didn't have any of the issues you mentioned.

only for gfwl (which was better than steamworks), everything was there. resolution options and all.

*edit* oh that stuff, i forgot about that.

Skullgirls isn't out on PS4 yet.

I use my HRAP3 VX S3 for Mortal Kombat X on PS4 and I can do all of Kung Jin's combos with ease. But then again that's MKX compared to USF4 which has a much more strict timing on execution, etc.

i wonder how well my Cronus Max would preform. it would be alot more convenient than the PS3 stick method

I've been using an Xbox 360 SFxTekken stick on PS4 via CronusMAX and it works, with no more input lag than on the pad as far as I could tell by feel(I completed Dan and Vega's trials with no real issues).

The issue still exists where the controller disconnects and reconnects every eight or so minutes though. I've set a macro (hold L1 and press L2) to reset it and as long as I remember before each fight it's not a problem.

I do forget, though, and I'll eat a punish in the face in that half second downtime on occasion. Plus, more worryingly, controllers disconnecting causes the game to crash if you're online. I assume it's if you're online; I've been online when it's happened each time anyway.

I haven't been able to get my CronusMAX to work on PS4 yet. Hmm. I wonder if I should try again.

Capcom pulls bug-ridden PS4 Ultra Street Fighter IV from tournament

Capcom's not been having the best time with the recently released PlayStation 4 version of Ultra Street Fighter IV. Despite garnering some positive reviews, the professional fighting game community—many of whom are planning to compete in Capcom's own Capcom Pro Tour tournament—have been less than impressed with the port. Numerous videos of the game have been published to YouTube, showcasing a raft of bugs, glitches, and performance issues that would have a detrimental effect on tournament play.

"I am so mad right now. We got ripped off and were forced to buy this as tournament competitors. I don't see myself playing this unless patch," reads a tweet from just one of a string of disgruntled players.

The problems are so bad that Capcom has decided to pull the PS4 version of the game from the rest of its 2015 Pro Tour. The even larger EVO tournament, which features SFIV as well as games like Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mortal Kombat X, and Tekken 7, is also considering its options. Joey Cuellar, a founding member of the EVO tournament, tweeted: "We are currently evaluating what system to put USF4 on at Evo 2015. Please be patient!"

Complaints about Ultra SFIV on PS4 have been flying in thick and fast since its release earlier this week. These have ranged from smaller, but no less irritating issues like animation lag when moving between menu screens and audio bugs, through to larger issues like invisible sonic booms, flaky online matchmaking, and—most troubling of all—increased input lag.

Notably, while Capcom backed the PS4 version of Ultra SFIV, it didn't actually develop it. Instead, it was published and developed by a third-party production group within Sony. In a statement over on its Unity Blog, Capcom wasn't shy about laying the blame on Sony.

Why can we skip cutscenes and vs/result screens only with the options button and not with x like the last 6 years?

Btw: played the 3ds version the first time in ages again and it really gets the job done. 60fps and minimum input lag (I can't really feel some tbh) great version.

Calling it now. If they don't get another developer in to fix it, this version of the game will never be good enough. Any other ocean made patch will be as half assed as the game.

I was thinking the same thing. The fact that same devs that did such a pathetic port are commenting that they're the ones "fixing" the problems has me feeling pretty damn hopeless about this thing ever becoming the definitive edition that was promised.

They are working in partnership with SCEA and Capcom which are pretty competent when it comes to game development, with Capcom's expertise of the game itself and SCEA's technical know how there's still a reason to be optimistic.

Really don't see how they would even want to hire this company in the first place and not a reputable one to do this port if it was suppose to be used at EVO.

Easy, money was probably a big part of why Other Ocean was picked.

Maybe they should have used this "expertise and technical know how" on the game before putting it up for sale.

I mean, did no one at Capcom or Sony looked at the game at all ? In less than a few hours, there were multiple bugs and glitches found, not to mention the input lag, and menu slowdown.

I would love to see the comparison of lowballing costs with an oursourced dev + costs of patching + costs to brand image VS costs of hiring a competent dev to begin with.

According to Wikipedia, Other Ocean never finished fixing Mortal Kombat Kollection and issues like sound bugs remain. Naturally, SFIV is much, much higher profile and there's way more pressure.

But I agree that this really needs another studio to come in and take over. Other Ocean doesn't seem capable based on history to date.

They were capable enough to port most of the game but not capable to fix bugs? Nah.... as long as the pressure is there, and the staff to make sure it gets done it should get done.

If I play casually, will I care about the input lag?

Don't buy a broken product. Just wait till it gets fixed at least.

Here's a glitch that I noticed that's really freaking weird.

I got rid of the lag on the character select screen . I put my PS4 in rest mode, and played it again. The character select actually went to a full 60fps or like the PS3 and 360 versions. After a little bit, it went back to lagging like usual. It's like day and night. I also replicated this three times in a row. So, it is possible for these menus to work at the original speed, but something is holding it back? I recorded it on the PS4 to make sure it wasn't a one off shot, and it seems to be consistent.

AF issues on a game like this is pretty telling, but it could also be that the game was released on too tight a schedule before it was ready. Hopefully this gets Sony more involved in the 3rd party productions process because it's insane that a company with so much developer talent should blindly outsource like this.

Also, Capcom should have been involved on some level in certifying and testing this game. I mean it took the community a couple of hours to spot that this game was broken. Why didn't they send out pre-release code to select members of the FGC to test before hand? Instead we got Playstation MVPs who didn't know much about Street Fighter streaming arcade mode days before release.

what did you say????

Just that it didn't work properly and felt incomplete, mentioned the glitches I read of and experienced. He said the usual policy is that all sales are final, but said he'd put the request for a refund through in this case.

Who knows how many deep bugs there are in the game at this point though. Many of them seemed to be getting discovered randomly like the Evil Ryu glitch. If I was Sony, I would be finding someone completely different to come in on the hurry to salvage it if possible. This was supposed to be a Tourney made game though, and the fact that there could be tons of hidden unknown bugs that just need something random to get it to trigger seems a bit worrisome.

I'm thinking they're either fixing it or not getting paid. Either way I don't think a lot of work will be heading their way anytime soon.
The game's too high profile to not stick to the permanent record of everyone involved.
And while Capcom and Sony can shrug it off in time Other Ocean will be stuck with it.
Unless they actually come through with all the promises Capcom and Sony made on the game.

For our sake I hope they bring someone else in to fix it.

It depends on what is causing said bugs. There's a reason Konami had another studio rebuild ZoE2 instead of having the original studio "fix a few bugs". High Voltage wasn't competent. They're still struggling to fix Mortal Kombat X PC. I mean, sure we'll see what happens now that the heat is on. But there is a difference between being capable of a basic port, and a good port.
