SURPRISE! Black Ops III announced for PS3/360, no Wii U version planned

Man yuck....really wish this would stop. I'm sure it's smart for them, but CoD should be helping lead the next gen charge.

I'd be more disappointed about no Wii U version if I wasn't having so much fun with Splatoon right now. I can't say I'm surprised though. Now I'm torn between getting it on PC or buying a Xbox One/PS4.

Still not sure what to get for my MP fix or just stick with CS GO and TLOUR.

SW BF, R6Siege, Splatoon or CoD BO3. Maybe just get into BF4, after all I am a cheap bastard.

I will just have time to play 1 :(, hard to choose.

No Wii U version sucks.

Personally I'll stick with bf4 until the real goods come out. Cod aw was basically unplayable due to lag, hit detection issues but I'm realizing now that some people like it anyway.... Bf4 well that was a travesty but it works okay now... I say wait on any MP game they are very rarely good for playing unless you don't care if you die 2 seconds after running behind a wall or your bullets do no damage.

Even destiny MP keeps me in but it has horrendous lag... So only play intermittently

People are actually shocked by no Wii U version?

Let me spell it out for you. Third parties have completely given up on Nintendo. Every. Single. One.

And by doing that, third parties are going to have a hell of a hard time to get back even if they want back, cos who's gonna trust them.

Wow. It's cross-gen, but NO WiiU version.
Then, why they made NNID account link on their website if BO3 is not coming to wiiu?

Well, here it is Activision. Your A team treyarch working in the popular black ops sub series. And its on current Gen and last Gen consoles. No excuse for a sales decline this year.... Right?

If the ps360 versions approach HD resolutions at 60fps, I'm not buying the ps4 version, we need a COD that is progressive and simply cannot be played on old hardware. If the maps and set pieces are the same, and its just resolution variances that are not toooo bad, then what's the point of new hardware.

A game that uses 4+GB of fast ram, that runs on 256k of slow ram, was never designed to take full advantage of the new hardware.

Now, if ps360 is 30fps locked, and other map, player count and set pieces are sacrificed, then I'm back on the train.

People were actually holding out hope for a Wii U version? Really? Previous COD games sold terribly, Advanced Warfare never happened, and the Wii U has no real momentum as a platform. Time to let it go.

They're clinging hard here. It's not like the first Modern Warfare came out for fucking PS2, and the timeframe is about the same here (actually, this is an even longer gap). All this really says is "we haven't made any meaningful progress in terms of designing these games."

It also says "We're not going to leave millions of sales on the table for no real reason." From a business standpoint it's a no brainer.

Also, it should be noted that there's no version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for Nintendo Wii U planned.

why?
there are 2 ways third parties will want back on a nintendo console
a) a great move of the hardcore gamers from ps/xbox to nintendo, these people will have no issues buying third party games
b) return of the casual, these people don't give a fuck about third party and nintendo relations

the only people with trust issues are nintendo fans and those are a dwindling market that isn't buying third party games anyway

unless a or b happens and nintendo says no to third party games on their console, which is very unlikely

I'm not sure I really understand the fears over the PS3/360 versions hurting the ones Treyarch are working on. It already sounds like it's going to be heavily dumbed down from the PR stuff, so it's not going to impact the current gen versions.

I mean I guess you could say that but it's a short term outlook. A leap in gameplay on the level of the original Modern Warfare is what the series needs for it to flourish in the long run. I'm not going to be hyperbolic and say that it's a sinking ship, but the sales are steadily declining and it's definitely lost a lot of its relevance with many gamers.

Like I was trying to say before: they could have made the original Modern Warfare not-quite-as-ambitious and then released it for PS2 and Xbox as well (platforms with a huge install base), but they instead opted for only current generation consoles and because of that (for better or worse) set the standard for the times to come.

If there was a chance I guess they would've already announced it and would be coming out around the same time that the other versions are being released. Or it could be a wink at Nintendo to throw'em a bone(money) to do the Wii U port.

Just a joke...

I'd have bought BlopsIII for Wii U

a. They would if they had been exposed to the "quality" Nintendo fans have for as long as Nintendo fans have, when it comes to thirst party games.

Tell me why these Nintendo fans should trust third parties though, 15 years of shit support from them, it will take a long time before trust comes back, unless ofc third parties are OK with $/€10-20 prices before their games sell, which is the price where it's worth to buy their games.

Maybe they were considering it but couldn't get the incentives from Nintendo they wanted to move forward. After all the previous Wii U titles were announced rather strangely (left out of most marketing and promotions, and stealth announced after the main announcements) suggesting there may have been behind the scenes negotiations by Nintendo to get it onto the console.

Porting these games lazilly to last gen consoles is probably a pretty low cost for what they could sell. Despite the downward spiral year over year these COD titles still move over 8 million copies worldwide before any price discount. Pass on making a last gen version and you might only sell 5 or 6 million to PS4/xb1 owners.

As well, despite probably suffering from all manner of downgrades compared to the "real versions" activision can still charge the same price.

Next year though ? I figure we'll finally see the nail in the coffin for 360/ps3 editions of most games ... unless sony and MS do what they should have done 2 years ago and sell these old systems for 99.99 USD ... hint hint

there shouldn't be negotiations... if there's a platform games should be made for it.

People lose their head because of this and they do not realize that the problem is not Wii U sales at all but game sales on the console and that is OBVIOUS but you know, many just want to shit on every related to Nintendo

Honesly, it's both. The console has a small install base AND third party games don't sell well.

Third parties don't need to worry about the trust of Nintendo fans, because they're finding success without Nintendo in the picture. It's staggering to think that some of the biggest third party games like Minecraft and GTA V have done huge numbers while completely ignoring Nintendo's hardware.

At one time this would've been unthinkable.

So at this point, should I get Black Ops II or Ghosts?

I was actually looking forward to BLOPS 3 =(

What exactly changed? It's not as if the game was much a looker back when it was revealed. Edit: oh, Wii U only?

Can't go wrong with Black Ops II.

Isn't Ghosts newer? I only ask because I assume it'd have more player online, but if they're comparable, then Black Ops II it is. I was one of the few that had Black Ops for Wii and I actually loved it.

I'd like to think the previous gen versions are more of a means to support countries like Brazil where the new consoles have impenetrable prices rather than an affront to Nintendo. The same reason why the Fifa series has been on the PS2 in some markets up until this year.

Ghosts is newer. It's also worser.

I don't know about player counts, but Black Ops II has a lot more player retention than Ghosts on other platforms. Maybe even more than Advanced Warfare.
