PR: Nintendo Publishing Devil's Third in the Americas, Valhalla Game Studios on PC

No matter how shitty the game looks I probably would have bought it on PC, because I'm delusional and want to believe in Itagaki. But F2P multiplayer only? Hype drained.

Also, with NoA actually releasing this at retail instead of just the eShop, one has to imagine they're also releasing Fatal Frame in physical form, since that's actually a title they always planned on publishing. It's be really odd if Devil's Third got a physical release but Fatal Frame didn't!

A F2P PC-only version is a great idea. They obviously spent a lot of time working on the multiplayer portion of the game, so at least this way it has a chance to build a fanbase. The Wii U version is obviously going to be DOA.

Yeah, at this point, I would be surprised if Fatal Frame was actually digital-only. I think people just jumped the gun on that assumption.

Why is Nintendo of America publishing this a physical release? They apparently had a deal with Xseed. Why publish a game whose exclusive part to the system is clearly horrible? That was the reason for NOA not publishing originally. Now the interesting multiplayer will be on PC as well.

There has to be something more here. As things are now it doesn't make sense.

Was this ever confirmed, though? It seems like people were just making assumptions about that.

Why? We've had other sources mention the Xseed deal and that was probably the same one Unseen64 was hinting at in his video, he was also right on the date the embargo would break on the SP stuff. If anything NoA changing their mind and deciding to publish this themselves is probably a rather recent turn of events where as the info that came out after E3 was dated though accurate at one time.

Why is it so hard for people to believe that unnamed sources can be completely false. People in the sports world are slowly learning.

Is it more believable to believe that Nintendo ripped up a contract with another publisher to publish it themselves and caved to public pressure on a bad game that has no help to sell and went against there initial judgement or that...

Those "sources" were just wrong. Probably all connected to the same person/people.

It all seems to stem from a source who talked to Silicon Era, it was seemingly confirmed by the guys at Nintendo Enthusiast (note a banned site on gaf so no linking) whom say they spoke directly off the record to people at NOA, I redacted the name.

I got all of this information third hand.

These are also the sources that Tamaki was using. For all intents and purposes this looked like a co-publishing deal that was going to let Xseed handle it.

Honestly though, does it matter? Do the extra couple of months of dev time give Itagaki the chance to fix any technical issues with the SP? Honestly I don't care, I just saw a lot of cool potential in the MP and that's all I was hoping for. I hope NoA puts this out as like a $40 title.

I don't know, sounds shaky, especially if the original source (which this seems to build all on for the most part) was bogus.

Very nice! PC version should be great with KB+M controls and 60 fps. Oh wait, this is what I would be saying if it wasn't MULTIPLAYER ONLY! WTF were they thinking?!

Well the two sources at Silcon Era and Nintendo Enthusiast, I don't know who SE talked to, but I generally like and trust the guys at NE, and if they say they spoke directly to someone at NoA I would believe them. Not saying everything on the site was great, but they have definitely gotten better and better as a fan site over the last 3 years.

Well, I don't know, I guess no one will until someone on the inside speaks out about it. But honestly, I'm getting the feeling that there was never any co-publishing deal. For whatever reason, NOA chose not to showcase the game at E3, and rumors just took a life of their own.

I'm starting to think this is the case too.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

He's not the only one. A couple other people in this thread had that same thing relayed to them months ago, before Unseen64 stepped in, and before all the drama about NoA maybe not publishing it. Sounds like XSEED was set to publish the game, and this was something recent that Nintendo did

Oh wow, I was just port begging in my head for a PC version earlier today -- will definitely buy, even if it sucks cuz Itagaki.

edit: Oh, F2P only. Okay... that sucks.

You're speculating.

Hope one day someone sits down and writes about the inside development cycle of this game, it's really insane and that's looking from the outside.
