Quantum Break Gameplay (Gamescom 2015)

Really don't get how people can say it looks last gen. It might not be the best looking game ever but it still looks very good, certainly better than a last gen game. It seems some people are really struggling with this gen not having a massive leap forward in graphics.

Last gen gave us some great graphics and graphical improvements have certainly not been as big this time but the level of detail in games has gone up a lot, thanks to having more RAM, allowing for better textures and smaller details on characters and in the environments, which can really add to the atmosphere of a game.

How does show integration work?

Can't watch the video right now.

Its a Cast trailer so its not explained, but it looks to work the same as it was explained last year, where the show influences what happens in the game and vice a versa, one cool clip showed you taking guns of two characters in the game, then they showed a clip from the show were the same characters reacted to the guns being taken.

Noticed that the Monach tropper is trying to do a melee like the superman punch that Jack does earlier but the player uses the time bubble on the trooper in mid air to block the attack then time dashes back behind cover. I like it.

Still not sure exactly how this will work. It will likely turn out to be a bit of a gimmick and they will drop that part of the show. I think the main reason for this is...

If the show influences the game, but the show is weekly, that would mean I have to stop playing and wait for the show to catch up every week to get the benefits of that, unless they make the game episodic too.

Same the other way around too, although not as hard to pull off. I'm guessing if there are certain choices through the games story, they would have to go on a percentage of how many players choose Choice A or Choice B and the winning percentage would be the thing that changes something in the show.

The "show" comes with the game. Watch it afterwards, or between episodes.
I think that still holds true. Some elements cross each other, some elements get influenced in the show (choices) and so on.

The show is on disc with the game.

How are people calling something like this out for being a generic third person shooter? Of all the games to complain about. Drake is sneak-crouching in waist high bushes, or blind firing around cover at this very moment, and this is what people call generic?

It's not obvious in all the chaos, people also only watch snippets, or with one eye only. I can't blame them, the demo is super power heavy and not really explained. Maybe Sam can do a narrated one sooner or later.

That's not how it works :).

The show and the game are both available at exactly the same time, but are unlocked as you play through the game. The flow is: Play Episode of Game -> Make Junction Choice as Paul Serene -> Watch Episode of Show -> Repeat.

The TV show is tailored to your own choices in the game; it's not running on a schedule like a typical TV show.

I would like that very much.

I've not been interested in this aspect of the title at all – but what you're saying here does sound interesting.

Nice to have it official, thanks :)

How long do the tv episodes run for?

QB is offering more than any other 3rd person shooter to be released next year with its mechanics. Would love to see people taking this position to list what they consider that isnt generic.

And don't get me wrong I am not against some standard cover based tps action from time to time, but if you want to refresh the concept a bit, throwing in magic powers and enemies like this is the right way to go.

I complained about this when they showed the first gameplay trailer. The generic comments were coming in right and left and yet that same year people were going crazy about someone in The Division closing an open car door.

Not that these people are necessarily the same, but it does feel a bit dishonest doesn't it? Like if they are going to call this gameplay generic, shouldn't they do that consistently to most games in this genre?

I thought the troopers equipment allows them to move when time has frozen, so why does the players powers work on them ? Would have been cool if the powers didn't work, so you had to change strategy in combat.

I guess like most games though, there will be stronger enemies who can't be stopped by his powers later in the game.

I agree. Video shows us a lot of interesting mechanics and ways to complete encounters (to the point that it looks really busy). I think this will be one of this games where the more creative you get the more fun you will have.

Well the troopers have powers too, the trooper sprints super fast towards the player before getting cancelled out by a player activated power.

I think their tech only protects them from these large environment changing events outside of the player's control, more focused powers seem to work - at least to some degree.

Game looks quite beautiful. Moreover, the time mechanic looks like it offers the player a variety of ways to tackle different combat situations.

Don't really like the new MC, prefered the old Jack

Yeah. And the busy part is almost certainly a result of them using some sort of god-mode to show of everything you can do, in the released game there sure will be an energy meter and/or a level up system of some sort.

Easily my most anticipated game, and I own all the systems. How anyone can say anything negative about this is beyond me.

Graphics are ace.

Combat seems fresh and varied.

Time mechanics are stunning and plentiful.

And the story already looks special and great!

I'd love to see that list too. Though I suspect your question is probably going to be looked over.

there's nothing too special about the abilities outside of the cool visual ways they're presented. but i like the premise and visuals and hopefully the story is good. i fear this could be a case of the order 1886 though. a graphical benchmark for the console but doesn't do so well review wise due to the "cinematic" approach the critics seems to be against lately.

1886 and QB are both videogames. Further comparisons are incorrect.

Generic, dude bro, cartoonish, repetitive, "i don't know how it works but it will not work". Its a Xbox thread after all.

The more i watch Quantum Break gameplay, the more it reminds me of Infamous:Second Son. The setting, enemies etc.

One thing I criticised a while ago and still holds true - there is no "casting time" or much of an animation for the powers. They are instantly switched on and that looks a bit confusing. It certainly will work when you play the game, but a small timeframe and a little animation by the protagonist could do wonders to the flow [look of the flow] of the combat I think.

Did they change the guys face? He looks different from the last time I saw him.

I think so, he looks like Wayne Rooney now.

But I think the game looks very cool, and has dedicated time and money to the story with actors and a nice presentation. Don't have an XB1 but I think MS is doing a good job, don't have the time or money to buy one, but I might pick one up late in the gen just for exclusives, we'll see.

Certainly has a similar vibe. Time powers would have been a ton of fun to play around with in SS

Same for me. I played through all of Second Son and this game is strongly giving me the same vibes. Not a bad thing.

Same here, was actually the first thing I said about the game when the conference showed gameplay. We won't get another infamous for a couple of years at least if not longer and this seems like it will scratch that itch, not to mention the narrative/story component seems to have a lot of effort put into it, which has me interested.

This is for demo only, if you go and watch the dev interviews from last years GC, they state this, also you can see that each power has a cool down timer and level system in the hud from last years demo.
