I can think of few worst case scenarios than this. Add this site to the ban list if they can't properly vet their sources.

Actually assuming the source is actually a CDPR employee and EA really was visiting, he or she still made a wild leap of logic and dsogaming should have applied a little critical thinking before they ran the 'story.'

I have to say, the EA CEO seems like a pretty smooth cat. He's sort of how I envisaged the companies CEO would look given some of it's games, only younger.

Probably just rumors, so we shouldn't put too much weight on it.

On the flip side, I also can't put much weight in Marcin's words either. He stated that Sword of Destiny trailer footage could be replicated in the game, which we now KNOW isn't true, and the fact they initially confirmed RedKit only to now state the watered-down version is all we'll be getting is another black mark on them.

Only the future will show us what awaits.

This is like the 4th time where I've been extremely surprised that a game is on Origin.
Why?
For better or worse, Origin is a well established DD client, not making a game available on its store wouldn't make much sense in CDPR''s case.

I don't think this is happening, but it cracks me up that this is the doomsday scenario for a lot of enthusiasts. DICE is working on two of my most anticipated games, I think CDPR would do fine in some situation where they had to choose between closing shop and selling to EA.

The Mass Effect series isn't anything I'd ever call forgettable... it was one of the biggest and most recognized names of last gen... the outrage over the ME3 ending is proof enough how influential the series was among gamers. The whole debacle may have been very misguided and idiotic, but it also showed how much people cared about the trilogy.

While Dragon Age was never as big as ME, it also has a very strong following and was generally received warmly by both critics and gamers... so all in all, I still think Bioware is in a good place. For example, I'd never claim KoTOR is a masterpiece while Mass Effect sucks... to me, they're both very enjoyable for what they set out to accomplish, and I can't say I see this creative decline of theirs you speak of.

I was under the impression that Dragon Age sold more than Mass Effect, no?

The hilarious thing is that the site got the "confirmation" that the person was an employee... and even assuming that was true, reposted credulously his speculation about the meaning of a meeting. Like, even in the employee's own telling, they have no idea what's going on, they just went "why would they be meeting if it's not for a publishing deal??? oh they're buying us". Like, come on.

Cyberpunk will be deemed redundant since Bioware makes Mass Effect and they'll be stuck making Witcher games every other year.

CDPR represents everything that is the opposite of what EA is known about.

For all the games they released, they didn't put pre-order bonuses (Exclusive to a retailer or whatever), had minor stuff like armor and alternate costumes as free DLC.

EA nickles and dimes their consumers to the bone. If you don't see why enthusiasts are concerned of that rumor, I can't help you.

Hm... I don't know, I was more talking about the overall mindshare, where I definitely think ME has the edge... though after Inquisition, I wouldn't be surprised if DA as a series sold more.

But that was the only possible reason EA guys could have been there. Can't argue with that logic.

In fairness, that tweet only responds to the part of signing a publishing deal with EA, not takeover concerns.

CD Project is a listed company, therefore management can't nor confirm nor deny any rumours. You won't get anything more from them, and if I was that employee I would watch out as it is bordering insider trading.

It's really bizarre - a studio halfway across the world that's built its reputation on directly servicing its consumers with policies that can't be replicated at other publishers. And GoG...

But maybe we're looking at this all wrong. Maybe EA wants a better foot in the door with PC gaming and they want to fold their online platform into GoG. This then heralds a new era of a re-energized EA PC gaming focus, with all their PC games completely DRM-free and robust, free DLC support, while letting CDPR act as an independent studio.

I don't think that's too overly optimistic here, right guys?

Guys?

Here's the problem, this is in no way like BioWare. This is like Ubisoft reps meeting with BioWare, some insider saying the only possible reason for that is a take-over, and neglecting to mention EA.

Fire up the MS paint if you wish, but even without that denial on twitter, it sounds like absolute bullshit.

Yeah, people shouldn't dismiss this just because PR says so, that's their only option according to the law.

If it happens there will be a press release. If not (more likely) then nothing.

Right. People should dismiss it because it's, "guy on internet says thing" viewed as reporting.

So I guess the post made by Benzenzimmeren on CDPR isn't enough proof that its a bullshit rumor, huh?

"It would never happen".

Yeah I read the same things when there were rumours Microsoft was trying to buy Mojang and how Notch would never sell out.

I'm not saying it's true, it's most probably BS, but that's the only thing he could say so it's not proof to any direction.

If they hinted that there's any kind of foundation in the rumor, it could affect stock prices and result in CDP breaking finance regulations because the announcement wasn't made via official investor channels.

PRs aren't allowed to disclose internal meetings and deals taking place at the company. Their entire purpose is to deflect such information until a deal is reached.

Oh god please no. Look at what they did to Bioware. If they were to be bought by anyone I would personally want it to be Microsoft so they could make a Shadowrun game.

Bioware are fine right now. Dragon Age: Inquisition was ambitious and apparently the new Mass Effect is aswell and returning to the roots of the original. Plus they're working on a new IP.

Even if it's not true, something will happen to CDPR. All good things come to an end.

I've accepted that most great European devs wont last... it was hard because that meant accepting we'll never get another STALKER game :'(

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but that's usually not an issue at EA:

Alex Ward was later made a high ranking big wig at EA and given control of the Need For Speed franchise.

Look man it's 10 in the morning.

Is this rumor coming from the CDPR-equivalent of Alex Ward, or just a regular employee?

Hmmm poll has a surprising lack of.

No, no NO, fuck no, oh god please NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Seems like obvious click bait. (Publisher known for aquiring and closing developers) plans to buy (independent developer with most goodwill with fans).
