DQ8 uses cstick for camera. I'm not sure if it works with CPP but I could check when I get home.
Always love an excuse to bust out my CPP.
FWIW camera on L/R works very well.
^ Kind of hard to do that since V and VI never got an official localization on SNES.
Up until today I've never played a DQ game. I own IX, but didn't have the time to play it yet. I really hope they release IV, V and VI as Virtual Console titles, especially V. The price for that one is just ridiculous.

Why do people always omit Dragon Quest IX from game recommendations? Am I the only person who loved that game? ;_;
You can get V for around $40 new if you're in NA.
Do you have a phone? The games are out for those and are pretty cheap ($15). They're also some of the best mobile ports S-E has done.
Nope, I'm in Germany and the cheapest used option on amazon marketplace is around $75, including only the game itself and no packaging or manual. I haven't seen a new one on offer in ages. :/
I do have a phone, but not a smart phone. I'll keep this in mind for when I have one, though. Until recently I never felt I needed one and right now I don't have the money. I can wait, though. Thanks for mentioning them; I totally forgot they exist!
Didn't some of the Dragon Quest games have really awful translations?
The Game Boy games and the PS1 version of VII had translations that appeared to be hindered by a lack of cooperation from the original developers. This is why Metal Slime became Metaly, Metal Babble became Metabble, etc. I don't know if they would be awful as much as compressed.Didn't some of the Dragon Quest games have really awful translations?
The PS1 translation of 7 definitely did.

Nah. It's just poorly edited. The translation is pretty decent, and it's perfectly proper English. It's just that you can tell a bunch of different translators worked on it. It needed to be edited for consistency.
What? 7 had one of the best translations on PS1. One of the reasons I'm iffy on a remake with a new translation is because I don't want the dialogue to be changed. That was my favorite of the series. I enjoyed talking to the townspeople in DQ7 than any other DQ.
Strangely enough, the NES games had exceptional translations for the time, especially on the technical end. All the necessary programming was done to accommodate the English language (menu adjustments, string length expansions, etc.), which was pretty rare at the time.
Well get ready cause Dialec has been cut down to barely have any of the flashbacks even in the Japanese version.
Probably the worst thing about the remake.
Well, people were surprised to know that both NoE and NoA are translating games, giving 2 English translations.
This is completely false. I played through the whole thing last year and even nuanced humor and wordplay came through clearly and effectively.The PS1 translation of 7 definitely did.

That's terrible. I was seriously thinking about Dialac when I made that post. It's the biggest reason I said earlier that I liked the first 20 hours best. The flashbacks in that town might be the most powerful part of the whole 100 hour game.
Question: Does DQVII have a orchestrated soundtrack like VIII does?
I disliked the party being mute mercenaries rather than actual characters, and I also wasn't a fan of the protagonist being anWhy do people always omit Dragon Quest IX from game recommendations? Am I the only person who loved that game? ;_;
Bought a copy of 1+2 for GBC with reasonable international shipping costs off ebay which I'm very happy about, but the listing I found of 3, Monsters 1 and Monsters 2 gave me an error at checkout and the seller said he only ships in the US even though it was listed as worldwide ;_;
Now all I can find are individual listings with $20+ shipping for each...
Have there been any DQ-themed New 3DS units in Japan?
I know they probably wouldn't come westwards, but I'd be in the market for a New 3DS for DQ.

Just some plates I think
Aha, I forgot that faceplates were more common than specific special editions these days.
Potentially better for import purposes I suppose.
Are they doing a new translation ?
DS Virtual Console on Wii U???
That's unlikely still. Maybe for NX?

Actually I believe I read some time ago that the translation for V on SNES was pretty much done, but Enix ran into problems and had to close the Enix USA offices. Also, there was never an official localization of the first Mother game, but they translated it and put it on the VC. I'm sure they could do the same with DQ.
What the hell?Can you do this in the original? I don't remember this being the case.You can marry Jessica at the end of the game?

I bet it's getting the late August slot. Not sure where 8 will fit in for 2016; early November, maybe?
