That's already on ps3 if you have one.Suikoden III, at last!
I'd love to be wrong, but I'm pretty sure disc based region free is never gonna happen. Licensing and all that. For the PS1 and PS2 games on PSN they renegotiated to allow region free.
1080p up scaling
Some kind of anti-aliasing solution
Save states
There's no relicensing needed to be done for disc based BC. They only needed to relicense when they were releasing games digitally on PSN.
Upscaling and AA I agree with. Save states would just ruin a lot of these old games.

Yeah even some of the classics that did make it to PS3 play horribly. Virtua Fighter 4:Evo is practically unplayable. A better system should hopefully avoid these issues and allow a stronger library. The PS2 Classic library is bad. But that's the main reason I want this. PS3 not being able to handle PS2 games optimally is probably the reason the selection of PS2 Classics is so bad. Since PS4 should be able to handle them fine, I'm anticipating a new wave of titles being added. Kind of like how PS1 games were out on PS3.
I'd really PSP games as well to be honest.
but the bouncer is good.Get ready for such ps2 hits as
Buzz
Singstar
Alias
The Bouncer
Splashdown
you should check out the digital foundry coverage of the ps2 emulation on ps4.Probably just upscaled 480i and limited to a lot of what is already on the PS3.
My hopes, they are not very high.
why confirm it like this? whats the point?..
For people claiming the PS4 doesn't have the correct lasers to read PS1 or PS2 discs...
Why couldn't Sony release a new Firmware update for the PS2 (or even the original BC-PS3) that allows you to connect to PSN through your PS2/PS3 (assuming you have a PS2 with the ethernet adaptor) and then have Sony run a Playstation 1/2 disc ID check right on the PS2 or PS3 itself? In that way, Sony could atleast TAG your PSN account with the "emulation rights" to the PS2 discs you actually own, so you could download them to your PS4 from PSN?
I still have a PS2 with the hardrive/ethernet adaptor input. Surely Sony could run disc ID checks that way. And the PS2 SLIM models had built-in Ethernet if I recall correctly.
Then, Sony can do what Microsoft is doing - just polling the customers to see which games are most popular for emulation on a PS4 and then they can let people who pass the disc ID check download the emulated version of the games directly to their PS4s?
I mean heck - Sony could sell off any remaining PS2 and PS2 SLIM stock, not to mention boost PS2 disc sales and re-sales, for people who are really interested in PS2 emulation of a PS4.
-This is assuming the PS4 actually can't read a PS2 disc due to hardware limitations that couldn't be patched with a firmware update. I don't know if anyone from Sony actually confirmed that or not.-

Ehh its ok not much meat to the game. What are the odds of Fallout Brotherhood of steel coming? Never played that one. Is it good?
I really hope this is disc based and not just the Classics. I also hope PS1 emulation comes with it.
The Grand Papillon thanks you for your support. Enjoy the trophy for beating the Man Festival.Shadow Hearts: Covenant, plz. Probably my favorite JRPG ever and I'd love to play it with trophy support.
Playback of the following types of discs is not supported.
CD
BD-RE ver.1.0
BD-R/RE XL
DVDs that have not been finalised
Well, there goes PS1 disc support. Drive probably cant use CD wavelenght.
I hope we get the rest. That's already on ps3 if you have one.
I can't get excited until it actually happens and they actually put a good library in there. PS1/2 Classics and Nintendo's VC are the most disappointing thing ever
Too true. It's a missed opportunity. Sony/Ninty should go to the pubs, and convince( or help them) to bring their games to psn/VC. All the battle network games. :0I can't get excited until it actually happens and they actually put a good library in there. PS1/2 Classics and Nintendo's VC are the most disappointing thing ever

I've used PCSX2 a lot on my PC, and while Sony's solution is not that, that doesn't mean to say they won't have things in common. Bumping up the resolution or boosting the framerate isn't a straightfoward process. Problems can and are introduced, and they'd be foolish to blanket-enable the feature.
I wonder if they could do it so that it can at least detect what the game is and you could download it. Probably would be too much trouble, but there are a lot of great PS1 titles on PSN that could make use of that.
What's interesting is that that some games apparently show very similar issues between PCSX2 and sony's PS2 emulator on the PS3, suggesting that they may have *borrowed* some code from PCSX2. Speculation of course, but interesting nonetheless I think.
There's a line I doubt they'd cross there. Owning and playing from a disc is one thing, allowing people to just insert a disc to download it to their account is another. Disk based BC is possible but a long shot; what you're asking for is never going to happen.
In addition to discs and ps1 games working, I hope that it also still supports the memory card adapter. There are some games that I just don't wanna unlock everything for again.

What if you need to have the disc inserted while playing the downloaded digital copy? Like how BC is on Xbox One?
