No, it is honestly more like Kingdom Hearts. It's from the same development team as Freedom Wars, so you already have a good idea what to expect.

So what genre does God Eater fall into? I've never played a Monster Hunter game or a God eater game so I don't know what to expect.
Are there any western series that are comparable?
Normally, I wouldn't care but the fact that it's coming to PC is getting me interested.

It's like a team-based action game where you take down a lot of big enemies.
In layman's terms, the monster hunting genre is one where you beat on HP sponges, get loot, craft new equipment so you can beat up even tougher HP sponges and so on and so forth. It involves quite a lot of grinding.

Both, but multiplayer is recommended for tougher missions. It's all in real time, too.

Aah, well, there goes my interest out the window lol. Going to be incredibly tough to find someone to co-op with. Still interested in getting into the Tales series though.

2016 looking even more ridiculous, eh. Bandai Namco banking on a Gundam PS Vita game in 2016 is surreal. The PS4 + PC trend is here to stay and will probably encourage more and more localizations.

Wow Bamco following SE this gen and going all in this gen. I'll be sure to reward your decision. I am surprised that Gundam isn't being supplemented with a PS4 or Vita port, you would think it was the franchise that would need it most. It's been years since I've bought a Gundam game but I'll be sure to buy this one.

Everyone in this thread needs to remeber that Gundam Vs hit it big with the PSP installements, its coming home to Vita
I like "hunting action game" just because there are, well, traditional hunting games too, like deer and stuff haha. But yeah, generally if you see "hunting game" nowadays it refers to this genre.

Fighting game, but its super unique and fun and fast, its one of the few good co op fighters out there

Console games didn't have tons, but from the looks of it, VS force will have tons of single player missions, keep in mind I've had a "I'll buy it anyway" mentality so I actually haven't been paying tons of attetnion

The year of dreams continues to deliver. I'm glad we're finally getting God Eater 2, it's been a long time coming. Now all I need to do is finish Freedom Wars.

GE is my favourite hunting game, Soul Sacrifice a close second. MH and Toukiden are too slow for my taste.

I'm in for both of the god eaters. Never played Burst, but they look cool.
Honestly, that's not even the correct term for the genre. It's "PSO clone." Monster Hunter only copied PSO-like traits and removed shit that the genre SHOULD have (lock-on, notable) to make it "lol Dark Souls lol" level of fandom wank.
None of the other PSO-clones after PSO or MH have felt like Monster Hunter in anyway. They feel more closer to PSO despite not taking PSO's "clicka-clicka-clicka" combat.
