Sony confirms Crash Bandicoot rights still with Activision

sure, but that doesnt mean you wont be on stage with that classic boyes grin and unveil something crash related adam

That's the issue. It's not a standard control scheme and some people (like myself) have issues adjusting to it, if they can even adjust to it at all.

Thats fair enough, it isn't a accessible control scheme which is certainly a flaw. The game isn't poorly design though.

Come on now, Activision is not going to sell their Crash IP to Sony when they know it has the potential to sell 5+ million worldwide (or more) on a Sony console. They are going to let Sony fund the most for a console exclusive Crash game.

I think this one will sell more than Mario 3D Land and 3D world and the new Sonic game. Gonna be a fun E3 to see Sonic vs Crash lol

The fact is that
UC4 doesn't mention Activision in the credits
, if something weren't going on with Sony and the Crash IP right now they would have had to put that text there to avoid legal ramifications. Everything else is circumstantial evidence that could or could not be a red herring, when it comes to legal matters they can't afford to play around.

Well, yeah.

If you check the trademark database, you'll clearly see that Activision still owns the trademark for "Crash Bandicoot." If Sony did make some deal to acquire Crash Bandicoot, it wouldn't make sense for the trademark to be transferred until after it's announced, otherwise it would ruin the surprise. Looking at the European trademark database, it shows that the Gears of War trademark wasn't transferred to Microsoft until February 20, 2014, which is a month after Microsoft announced it had acquired the IP.

The point is, something could be going on with Crash at Sony, and saying Activision "owns the rights" wouldn't actually be a lie, at least right now.

Edit: And honestly, that's the only thing that makes sense given the fact that (spoiler about a big game releasing shortly)
neither Crash or Acti are mentioned in U4's credits
.

Precisely, even if a backroom deal has taken place the second that trademark passes hands the cat will be out of the bag. Until it has been announced they're not going to transfer ownership.

If Sony can work out it out with Disney to have Spider-man be in the Avengers movies, they can surely work this out... Right?

Exactly.
This isn't just something you'd forget about. Every trademark Sony doesn't own (such as Polaroid, for example) is mentioned in the Uncharted 4 credits. This is a requirement enforced by law, and failing to comply can lead to a hefty fine and a lot of trouble. Not even Naughty Dog's 30th anniversary art book was exempt from including Activision in the credits, since it contained pictures of Crash. As you can see, this is something that even applies retroactively.

Mario 3D land sold almost 11 million copies.

To give it a perspective on sony scale: it would have to sell almost double the amount Uncharted 3 sold to get there.

Yeah, 'cause he's going to really say they do.

UC4 spoilers

No Activision in the credits is all the confirmation I need.

They are not gonna say anything until E3 because they don't wanna spoil anyone. At the very least, Sony has the license to Crash. I'm sure of this.

lol people saying the dream is dead.

is it so easy to make you believe anything?

A sony rep is saying no we don't have the rights and you believe him?? what lol...

cmon guys

Were people expecting them to say, "Yeah, so we're just a few short weeks away from E3 but we wanted to announce that we have entered into an unprecedented agreement with Activision and will be working closely with them and our inhouse development teams to bring Crash Bandicoot back into the hands of Playstations gamers all over the world."

Patience people. Personally I couldnt give two hoots about a new Crash game coming anytime soon but with all the hints both subtle and not so, a new Crash game is almost 98% confirmed to be shown this year.

If it's happening then I hope they get the announcement out of the way as soon as possible. Announce it first thing at E3 and move on, please.
I think it would/will be the first thing they announce at E3. If Shawn Layden speaks first again he will probably announce it after his opening speech (like TLG's reintroduction last year) since he was the one teasing it at PSX.

If that's the case and there will be no Crash Bandicoot announcement at this years E3...

how on earth did they let it go this far!?

Not really, Spider-man as a movie franchise is something of a dud. And given that you have Fox with the other big marvel franchise (X-men), Warner Brother finally attempt to pull a "Avengers" with the DCU... Sony doesn't have much of a leg to stand on in keeping Spider-man. So when Marvel/Disney walked into there offices with enough bags of cash to fill a dump-truck? What did you think that Sony would do?

You know, I always wondered as to WHY Activision never pulled something similar with Crash? It always caught me as a low-hanging fruit, and is not like Skylanders hasn't made the company buckets of money (it does have something of a history of being Actvision's highest grossing franchise).

On one hand this is great news, the game has a chance to hit multiple platforms (Xbox and PC etc) - on the other hand though, Activision will probably just sit on the rights for years to come and Sony are probably the only ones willing to push for another crash game.

I don't believe him, there are far too many coincidences/nods/easter eggs to say otherwise. I will wait until E3.

Something is happening but just what remains to be seen.

This could all be an amazing troll and the rights won't switch over to Sony until the 10th June, or something? (Whatever the date of their E3 conference is).

Or maybe they've licensed out the IP for a new trilogy of games. I think there have simply been too many hints for there to be no smoke without fire.

Dont see why Sony and Activision couldnt team up to create a Crash game, or what Activision tend to do with respect to letting platinum studios create their licensed games.
