They likely want PSVR to have a lot of spotlight at E3 as well
*Also we don't want to possibly affect PS4 sales with enthusiasts until reveal.

I do wonder if it will launch this year because quite a few enthusiasts would be spilt between PSVR and Neo if they are interested in both.
Who else would it be targeting expect from that audience?

The problem with that tactic is that it only works when others are actively competing with you. I would be shocked if Sony doesn't know that and carries on like that, it can really leave a company open.

Was holding on to a shred of hope these rumors would turn out false. Hopefully the original PS4 isn't screwed too hard by this, because I'm not buying a console multiple times.

PS4 was announced first and was very well received, MS made themself look bad, This is revisionist history.
Very likely, and that one has a release date. Gots to make people buy into it.
Scoprio likely came first and then the rumblings came back to Sony. Plus, 4K is starting to be a thing Unlike 3D Blu Ray, 4K discs have a extra layer of encoding which PS4/ONE can't play at the moment and likely, both companies have to adapt as the 4K movement sweeps.

Well, at least nobody will get angry during the show about it being a no-show--that and worry about seeing the Neo instead of games. Perhaps at PSX or one of the other shows.

I wonder if they will be slightly upping the power after the Scorpio rumor. Obviously that has nothing to do with the reason it won't be at E3 but they have MS targeted spec now and have time to make a few adjustments if they want to

By starting over do you mean backwards compatibility? If so, then they can already implement that with the current release cycle we have for consoles.
Releasing more hardware to me is backwards because right now the trend is infrastructure as a service. I think it would be awesome if Sony and Microsoft said you can unlock a game you purchase on the cloud and stream it to any device by having a subscription to PS Plus or Xbox Live. I don't know why Microsoft hasn't done that yet with Azure. That way you pay a monthly subscription to run your games on the latest GPUs available in the market. This will be very appealing to PC gamers since they no longer have to shell out $600 a year at once to have the latest GPU on the market.
Man, this guy again. He says revealing the existence of scorpio will hurt ms sales but revealing PS4 in interview doesn't hurt PS sales??????

Not because it's not at E3 but yeah they could be bumping specs. Specs change from development kits to final box on almost every hardware ever

Where are you getting this from? Sony mentioned this as far back as 2015, these things are planned well in advance, and rumour is neo is launchig first.

More like just, tales from the ass.
There was even an 'insider' that supposedly worked at AMD or some shit, that posted on a tech site forum back in Fall of 2013 talking about Sony and plans to have interim upgrades due to the chipset roadmap AMD employs. (Link is in the Scorpio thread when the warz shifted to 'who did what first nonsense'.)
So this has been in the cards for both makers, and part of the reasons they went with AMD (x86/64) and their affordable roadmap.
One last time peeps, they both want that ecosystem pie with less 'hard resets', not unlike Android/iOS. It keeps your consumers with you for the long run.

I'm sad that you don't see how delusional this is. Please go back and reevaluate your own posts to see why people have been incited by them. I guarantee it's not because you speculated "Sony might be doing something sub-optimal." It is not your point of view that is chafing with the rest of this thread, it's your tone.
This is a difficult time for Juniors on GAF because there are so many more bans than any other season and bans, obviously, are a much more serious consequence for Junior Members. So it's sometimes wise to lay a little low and be less argumentative than you'd like to be, especially during this time of year when tempers flare.
Spend more time here and you'll realize GAF is a great place--and a lot less single-minded than you seem to think it is.

?? I never said anything of the like I said Scorpio being announced won;t effect PS4 sales. Announcing a new console that is not coming for a year versus waiting close to launch are 2 different thins. Re-read and try to understand what people are saying.

too bad we'll probably never know how it performs since I doubt they'll separate the Neo in sales reports.
Maybe they will bump clock speed but nothing major in my opinion.
No-show at E3 does not mean Neo will not launch this year.
Since its announcement will have a impact on PS4 sales, it would be smart to announce Neo mere weeks before it enter sales [like Apple does regularly].

Never know they doubled the PS4 RAM at the last second and even caught developers off guard with it.
People shouldn't just assume the spec list we have now is accurate for a launch box.

well Sony literally unveiled the actual physical design of the PS4 at E3 2013 but that's not quite the same
So... sales are delayed for the next 3 months. I'm not sure why that would matter.

Neo is practically officially announced now. It's real, It's for the hardcore players. Only casuals will buy a basic PS4 from now on.

I'm not sure the Neo or Scorpio are being built with expectation of selling 40 million units. For Sony, if the Neo helps PSVR solidify as a brand by offering a better experience over the long run, that might be worth it to Sony if Neo only sells 10 million+ over the next 3 years.

Again; the base design remained the same. They were taking advantage of a very late game density increase in memory chips from their provider. They didn't redesign the console with new hardware last minute.
