PSVR requires 2x3 metres of space to use. Polygon requires 2x3 beers to comprehend.

Any way you could provide this crucial data in pie chart form?
...or is that what this is, and you've just baked the funkiest pie of all time?

No, using "cinematic mode" in other headsets is surprisingly pleasant. I watched the entirety of Daredevil's second season in a virtual living room. I figured the resolution would be crap but it comes out looking great honestly.

lol I never even thought of this use for the headset holy shit.

"watch a movie in p diddys house, with p diddy" only 11.99.

Even at 2x3 meters I don't have that kind of space.

Not in my SF apartment.

I hear ya. I've got a studio in downtown SF myself. Though having spent a little time with PSVR at PSX and seeing the kind of experiences they are going to be pushing for it during its launch window, it's primarily a sit-down affair that you don't need very much space at all for. I imagine I'll be just fine with the limited space I have.

Some of these reactions.

Stretch your arms out. That's the width (average human arm span is just under 2 meters). If you're using Move, I sure hope you can move your arms around without hitting something.

Now stretch one arm out in front of you. That's the minimum distance.

Basically swing your arms around. If you don't hit anything, you're good.

Yeah, this.

Amazing wall of shame in this thread lol

lmao, what's going on in this thread

its now a joke post thread because people fail reasonable comprehension skills, and literally believe everything they read on the internet.

Even when people like me have demoed the headsets and tell them you dont need much space just as what sony was trying to say in their manual lmao.

Well, this thread is something alright. Taking the article as it is as the One Truth™ and running to hit that "cancel pre-order" button without taking two minutes to verify the facts. It is a fucking Polygon article! They have such a crazy hit/miss ratio that anything published in that site should be triple-checked before given any relevance or weight.

Ah well, at least we got some good Polygon charts™ for the troubles.

What did I miss? How did we go from 5 square meters to 60 square feet? Did polygon fuck up when converting metric to valyrian units?

I'd be interested to see their hit ratio. I wasn't aware they had one.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
LOL at the thread title and the graphs. Polygon threads are amazing all thanks to that ridiculous Mario Kart pie chart.

6 meters squared is ~60 feet squared. The 3x2 meters is the maximum playspace size available. The only room you need to play is arm length in each direction, which is < 2x2 meters even at the absolute most.

You don't need that much, that's just recommended maximum cleared playing space that they want to promote for safety reasons. Majority of the games will be sitting or standing experience. There will not be walking.

Sony is playing it safe, they don't want to get sued later on for accidents.
