Sun and Moon August 12th Update Possibly Leaked: The Redemption of Raichu

It spoils raichu and given that alolan forms are revealed via thread title, what that is.

In any case, even if it wasn't that warranted, people jumped on him waay too hard. It's like someone saying "dude... spoilers" and the response being a rant about people complaining about spoilers

It only said Redemption of Raichu. Nothing about it is leak unless you actually go in for yourself to see what it is. Basically your curiosity at fault.

I'm too elated on the League episode to comment though... hnnnngggggg.

Don't we already have a Water/Dark Pokémon in the form of Greninja?

Either way, if that's from the Chinese leak (I only recall a mention of a dolphin, not its typing), I have little reason to doubt it at this point.

Like Kinsei says, it's because dolphins are assholes. There are lots of Water/Dark. What's one more? But let's say Dark/Water instead, since one doesn't exist yet, to make it more interesting

Honestly, significant bosses like team leaders ought to be using 4 Pokemon minimum by the time things are level 30. Emerald's Watson's Pokemon are levels 20-24, and he has 4 of them. Having only 2 (and a Golbat and Ariados at that) at 30 is a disgrace.

I still find some Megas awkward because they effectively capped the evolutions of some Pokemon who probably could have benefited from a real evolution more (like Pinsir) but I don't really dislike the idea for Pokemon who didn't have that issue (like starter Megas and Legendaries).

Alola forms I want to know more about the mechanics of before I jump to judgement, like how do movepools work (esp when Pokemon evolve into/out of Alola forms as currently seems possible) and how do they work for breeding purposes (especially since Alola forms seem to not have HAs). Given how many we've seen living dex's are going to be super awkward too unless we get bigger or more numerous boxes). Other than that I actually like the idea in principle.

Edit - Can't just use the Pentagon eqiv for Alolan forms though. Even normal form Pokemon traded across and bred in Gen 7 will need the competitive legal mark, so indications of which form a pre-evo that could be either need some indication.

They clearly wanted to do something new with older Pokemon, and tried out Megas. I don't think it ended up being very successful (the Raichu problem- you spend most of the time as Pikachu, barely any as Raichu) is present there due to it being an in-battle one-shot thing.

Z-moves are a cleaner execution of the one-shot battle concept since they're tied to the player, not the Pokemon directly, and regional forms are a far superior way of getting mileage out of older Pokemon.

are they trying to appeal female audience with that raichu form?

Raichu was a badass, why such a drastic change to make it "cute"? Looks more like a female version rather than a variation.

Just look Ninetales and Sandslash. They have modification but maintaining the core.

Totally ruined.

It's a surfing Pikachu reference. It's a shout out for old school players.

So its safe to assume that the new meowth will encounter team rocket's meowth in the anime and theyll have a tussle then end up loving each other by the end.

Honestly, if Ash leaves we still Need Team Rocket because, let's face it, It's Bulk and Skull that make these franchies :V

Oh, I'm sure they'll get more powerful as the game progresses, but personally I don't like belting the leader of the team that early in the game. I'd much prefer the Giovanni approach where you have a few key (higher leveled) fights, and then the rest of the time you're wailing on their subordinates.

The first fight against Giovanni was fairly low-leveled, though:

Rather than have Team Rocket be Team Rocket for the entire series, they should have made a call back in the third gen and had them switch teams every new generation, so every single generation wasn't constantly referencing Team Rocket.

Could have been funny with the two of them being on separate teams for Gen III, but always working together anyway.

This makes me wonder if there was a point where Kanga might have been Ground type. She certainly looks like she could be, and Pokemon similar to her in design are all Ground type (Rhydon, Nidoking, Nidoking and Marowak)

It's weird how Team Rocket's focus episodes are usually really good but in the regular episodes they're kinda annoying.

yup looks like a super badass right here
are you perhaps thinking of a certain specific raichu?

That's because they're generally overused and usually poorly utliized

So are you trying to say that this

It's tryinh to be a "cute" pokemon?

That's what I meant about "badass".

We can say that there are 2 desing lines. Pokemos meant to be cute, and pokemons meant to be "badass" (I don't want to word it as cool cuz cute can also be cool).

Raichu was never meant to be on the Clefairy , Jigglypuff, etc line.

It's a pudgy rosy cheeked mouse, it isn't an Electvire or something.

Also don't fit squarely into two categories. Also the whole design for Alolan Raichu is that's "chill" now.

As in "Heathcliff"
I want to say that I really appreciate that they are bringing out old pokemon with Alola form which would give us intensive needs to collect and train old pokemon to evolve them into new forms (new types, abilities, etc).

During 6th gens, I didn't really bothered to collect and train old pokemon because I already have them in old games so I found it pointless to do so because I would prefer to train new pokemon that I have no experiences with.

Now they are going to redeem some old pokemon with new forms which made them more interesting and compelling for me to pick them up again which I truly appreciate a lot. I really hope that they could do same for some pokemon over the generations.

old Raichu was the red headed step child of Pokemon. thread title is completely accurate, it's finally been redeemed.

I think they ruined Raichu. He was perfectly fine the way he was, aesthetically speaking lol. This new Raichu will probably be far more competitive at-least. But this overly cuddly thing just doesn't do it for me.

Based on my recent playthrough, Giovanni's Kangaskhan at the very least is still higher-leveled than your Pokemon will most likely be at that point, and there's definitely a difference between fighting an Onix & Rhyhorn compared to...Ariados. Hopefully Guzma's next Pokemon is tougher at least.

Onix is pretty terrible outside of its defense and mediocre speed. Ariados isn't the best at that point in any of the games but can still hit pretty hard, and actually has 5 more BST than Onix. Considering the amount of Fairy, Grass, and Psychic types this gen it might serve really well as the opening in a boss battle.

In general I think that they need to have more Pokemon on teams nowadays. 3 Pokemon on the last Gym Leader was pitiful in XY and even this, which is probably a direct reference to Giovanni 1, is a bit disappointing.

Just saw these rumors posted in a group, take it either a grain of salt...

This is apparently new Sun and Moon news that might change the way we look at the franchise.

Alola is made up of 4 islands: Melemele, Poni, Ula’Ula, and Akala.
Post-game has 4 “Island Districts” that aren’t viewable on the map. (Ekahi Island, Elua Island, Ekolu Island, and Kalola Island.)

Kalos is not available post-game, but Hoomaka Cave on Kalola Island holds a huge easter egg I believe. Deep inside there is a dark entrance guarded by a backpacker that states the railroad is closed for now and only a Pokémon that emits a special light can ignite the way to the other side. No Pokémon in your party will allow you to enter for now.

Rockruff has 3 evolutions similar to Eevee in RBY. All of them require learning “Howl”.

Salandit has a split evolution line at level 36, one for Male and one for Female.

There are 16 Z-Stones, 18 total, with a Trial Captain for 16 of the types. Guzma and Plumeria are holders of the missing Dark and Poison Z-Stones.

Some Pokémon can change shape/stats after they perform a Z-Move. These include Greninja (Rainbow,) Solgaleo (Radiant,) Lunala (Full Moon,) Marshadow (Eclipse,) Espeon (Dawn) and Umbreon (Dusk.)

All 47 Mega Stones are accessible on the island districts. There aren’t any new Mega Evolutions.

There are a total of 128 new Pokémon and 23 Alolan forms. These Alolan forms are all Gen 1 exclusive Pokémon.

Alolan form Pokémon that are capable of Mega Evolving can do so, Alakazam and Kangaskahn are among these.

Marshadow, an extremely gorgeous dolphin, has a jewel on its head that emit sparkles so bright, that it’s seen as the emissary of light. Its stats are pretty underwhelming, but it has a cool ability that allows it to have any Psychic-type combination. The second type is random every time it enters the battle field. Even switching out causes it to change.

The Strange Souvenir item in XY depicts a Ghost/Rock Pokémon from Alola named Gigareki. It’s a giant tiki (different from the Tapu lines) that has an amazing laughing animation when you battle with it. It is said to be the oldest living Pokémon, and seen as a “Teacher” in many ways.

The NX will be a dual handheld/console set for release next year. Sept 2017 there will be a parent game that features both regions of XYSM exclusive to this console.

Rainbow Greninja will be revealed by TPC on Aug 21.

Alolan Alakazam family are fighting type. Alolan Alakazam can mega evolve, keeps the fighting type, and gains No Guard.
The Z-Bracelet is a key item in your backpack. Selecting it allows you to place 1 mega stone and 1 z stone inside of it. This allows for more crazy strategies because your Mega Pokémon can now hold items like Rayquaza due to this.

The first district you’re taken too has a slightly upgraded Battle Maison. One of the districts has a Lugia/Ho-Oh depending on your version.

All Champions from previous games are able to battled on the S.S. Anne while they’re bored. The S.S. Anne brings you to the districts.
Rainbow Greninja is technically Ash Greninja but with a name change. It will be revealed in the closing ceremony at World’s 2016.

Meowth that knows “Happy Hour” and OT Alola will be distributed at World’s. Cherish Ball.

I hope that SS Anne thing with battling previous champions is true. Pokemon World Chanpionships is one of the many reasons BW2 is the best Pokemon game yet, with easily the best post-game.

mhm a lot of these could very likely end up being true

They seem to piggyback on some other rumors. How they know about the NX version at this point seems rather strange to me. I don't really buy this rumor. The Pokémon World Championships are next week (Aug 19 - 21) so we'll see.

Yeah I wouldn't put much stock on that last rumor. It was already discussed in another SM thread and didn't make it past much examination. I'm still hopeful about the SS Anne and past champions thing though, that is present in other more credible leaks than that one.

My boy espeon might get a form change!

and if that mega stone part is true it would really make thinks interesting.

All of the new mechanics so far seem very competently thought out by gamefreak
