I legitimately believe Pokemon Sun and Moon was used to influence the U.S. Election.

I'm guessing anyone browsing 4Chan for Pokemon leaks on election day instead of voting probably would have voted for Trump. So if anything, it would have been perpetrated by anti-Trump hackers. #debunked

Let me throw my theory in the ring since GAF seems to be going crazy today: this and the "marry wife of person I killed" thread are made by Russian infiltrators to try to make GAF more like 4chan.

I could honestly believe someone would try to do this, but it seems like a pretty stupid plan. If it had ANY effect at all, it would mean there's already bigger problems in the electorate than someone actually putting a plan like this together.

Is there a "I'm the craziest" contest today? First the guy who wanted romance systems that let you steal married people if you killed the spouse, now this.

.
Whoa whoa whoa

What the fuck is that, you cant just drop lore and not link anyone to that

Give me the context please link a brother

I can imagine the date being deliberate. But the intention would have been to maximise exposure of the leak, not to stop Pokemon fans from saving America.

I believe you, OP. I mean, at least considering the other facets Russia was meddling with on the net, this doesn't sound that farfetch'd. Doesn't mean it's real, but it's certainly plausible.

Any form of popular media can and will steal attention from those who even have a slight interest in voting.

I could see it being the case especially if a new GOT episode was leaked on the day of the election too.

We gotta face the facts that entertainment will absolutely make someone not vote.

As for SUn and Moon, until there's more evidence, for now it's just a coincidence.

I don't know if the OP is wrong or right (he's probably wrong) but the fact that in the midst of site after site admitting that they hosted Runnian misinformation someone can still be treated like a tinfoil hat wearing psycho for questioning a mysterious data dump on the day of the election is exactly why Russia did and will continue to succeed with this stuff.

I started this thread by posting a link where CNN explains how Russia made a fake Black Lives Matter group in Pokemon Go to influence the election.

I mean it's easy to laugh this off and go "you're crazy", but I don't see the downside in looking into this. It's not like I'm expressing a dangerous idea that could get people hurt like the Pizza Gate folks, it's something that could easily be investigated and I think at this point why not?

I'm sorry that most of the posters in this thread are bashing you, and it's plainly obvious that most of them didn't even read your post or if they read snippets, they just disregarded your premise wholesale.

I buy it. I buy what you are saying. As someone who doesn't particularly like Pokemon, I can believe it. If the timing of the release of the game/information to the web was the 7th to the 8th, and it was done via 4chan there definitely is a level of suspicion to be levied.

I don't think there's a grand conspiracy with games/entertainment, corporations and government, but I do legitimately think that video games such as Pokemon have had a pretty bad, unintended consequence on our Democracy. Games like Pokemon, MMO's, or Free-to-Play titles I think have had almost disastrous consequences to American society, and we are only just now beginning to see this.

This will probably sound like crack-pot bullshit 'NICE TINHAT BROO' to most of the posters in this thread, but I genuinely believe that psychologically predatory game design has greatly contributed to a 'dumbing down' and docilization of our democratic society. How? By extremely incentivizing group-think and large amounts of time commitment, almost slavishly, to these products.

Look at the loot boxes and all the threads popping up about them. The casino/gambling predatory psychological 'gaming' of games and their design is bleeding into almost all games.

Look at the thread about Lawbreakers only having 10 active players.

I can see the leaking of that Pokemon information being extremely calculated by operators knowing how western psyche works. We are slowly uncovering that Russia has definitively been doing this. They know the weaknesses, and they are pulling on the threads, wherever they may lie.

Steve Bannon creating a Gold Farm start-up when WoW was huge is no coincidence to all of this. He understood.

And yes, there is a very real danger of attributing Russian influence to everything, but damn if it isn't a scary place that the world is in right now. As a culture and society we need to be objectively, rationally, and with as little bias as possible, be thinking critically about the things we see and interact with, and how they affect us.
