Elevator Action Returns - nope, just Saturn and PS2 ports

Eyeshield 21 Amefuto no Yarouze YaHA!! - Nope and has a 0% of getting one

Final Fantasy X-2 - Yep, and a pretty decent one

Resident Evil 3 - Nope, but might get one depending on how REmake 2 does

Silent Hill - It got a completely shittastic remake that should never have been made.

Silent Hill 3 - ...

Final Fantasy IV - like a gazillion of them

Castlevania 64 - Just Legacy of Darkness but a 3DS remake would be awesome.

Vampire Savior - bunch of ports with Resurrection being particularly excellent.

Revelations: Persona - Had the crap PSP remake that I won't touch.

This thread made me realize that a lot of my favorite games have gotten remastered/remade.

PaRappa 1 and 2 - PSP remake/PS4 remaster
Conker's BFD - Xbox remake
Daytona USA - PS3/360 remaster
Banjo-Kazooie - 360 remaster
Perfect Dark - 360 remake

I guess all that's left that I can think of are Ridge Racer Type 4 and OutRun 2006. (Maybe Online Arcade technically counts for that but I wasn't able to buy it before the delisting... so I need a new one anyway!)

Man this is such a weird thread because what counts as a remake or remaster?

I'd say Earthbound but it had a GBA port. Mother 3 I'd say.

Resident Evil 2.

God Hand.

VIEWTIFUL Joe.

Paper Mario 1 and 2.

Red Dead Redemption.

Link to the Past and Links Awakening DX (XD remake a remake)

Would have been awesome if Nintendo did more Zero Mission style remakes for their NES games because I find NES games hard to go back to.

To be remakes sort of run a spectrum.

You have full on remake ass remakes like Super Mario Allstars, Zero Mission, REmake, and the Pokemon remakes.

You have enchanced port like remakes like FFT WOTL or Persona 4 Golden, or really any super special edition of a JRPG like and international edition or final mix. This also would be like a rerelease of a fighting game. Stuff is changed and rebalanced but it looks and feels nearly the same.

Then you have just ports which we got a ton of this gen. Maybe the framerate is better, maybe it has a few tertiary features. Maybe an extra area.

The Xenosaga series, though with a failed little mention a while ago, I doubt it will ever happen. I would be happy with them at least being released digitally on PSN or the like.

Also Fallout: New Vegas. I would love a PS4 version that ran well. Cleaned up some bugs and maybe restored some deleted content. I think it's possible, but unlikely.

Alpha Protocol (will never happen -- and at this point I'd be happy to get a shitty port)
Brave Fencer Mushashi (ps1 -- not ps2)
Viewtiful Joe (every game)
Killer 7
XIII
Jet Moto
Fighting Force
KOTOR 1
Jade Empire
Legend of the Dragoon
Megaman 8 (fo' sure)
Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2

Edit: How could I forget, WarHawk (FO' F**KING SHO'), Demon Souls, Shenmue I & II, PowerStone 2.

Okay, I think I'm done.

Majora's Mask might be the only one of my top 5 to get a real remaster. Metroid Prime and Pikmin 2 sorta kinda got one. FTL and FE: Awakening are too new to really deserve one.

Nothing else in my top ten has gotten anything. No SNES era Disney Capcom games have even gotten a rerelease, same thing with the Lost Kingdoms series, Rogue Squadron series, Super Return of the Jedi, or Super Mario RPG.

That are like 90% of games ever released. SNES to GBA port for examples are de-makes not re-makes, so those most certainly doesn't count. Neither does any of the GC to Wii New Play Control stuff.

Isn't the thread title basically "what are your favourite games?"

Have or have not been remastered basically just covers everything.

MegaMan legends is what i'm most waiting for right now. FF8 and FF9 would be nice as well but since Square is working on 7 right now i can wait. I honestly wanted a digimon world game with just updated graphics but were getting that new ps4 digimon world game so i can live with that (i seriously don't like the way it looks).

The point was I was going for was asking what everyone's breakdowns were. My friend from the OP has gotten enhanced versions of all but one of his favorite games, whereas most of my favorite games haven't and even some of the remakes that have been made could use a new release themselves. It pretty much just became a "what remasters/remakes do you want?" thread anyway though.

I just need a remaster of those games and I'm good:

  • The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2
  • Amped 1 & 2
I'd also take a WipEout HD/Fury remaster in 4K-HDR.

KOTOR I and II - These need nothing but a graphics overhaul. No other changes necessary besides perhaps adding in KOTOR II missing content.

Morrowind. - This one would probably need a full-blown remake for today's audience, although I would love just a graphics overhaul.

A cleaned-up version of the original Spyro trilogy would indeed be glorious. Replaying them they hold up remarkably well in regards to the camera, much better than I expected, but they would have been so much better had dual analog sticks been the norm.

The original Age of Empires + Rise of Rome Expansion

I want an HD version so badly :(

This too. Rise of Rome never actually came to Mac so I never played it, but AoE suffers from a lack of modern RTS abilities (idle worker selection, so you can get the worker who disappeared behind that building you created!) and is mostly unplayable on anything approaching a modern system.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom
Motortstorm Collection (at least MV and PR)
Dragon Age: Origins
Ni No Kuni
Jedi Knight Series

Persona 3 Golden for the Vita would be fantastic!

Otherwise I hope for remakes of Mass Effect 1-3 and an HD PC port of Ni No Kuni would be great. And if Nintendo could port/remake those untranslated Fire Emblem games, that would be an instant buy for me.

Demon's Souls - With added 5th archstone.
Asura's Wrath collection
Shadow Hearts collection
Otagi collection
Tenchu collection

That's a good start.

I would say KOTOR and Shenmue personally. I'd love Shenmue 1 and 2 on Vita before the third one comes out.

Mass Effect
Resident Evil 2
KOTOR

As much as I'd like to see KOTOR get a new coat of paint, there is no way they get remastered. The gameplay is too archaic and abstract for most gamers so I think if we did see one, they would probably butcher the combat.. "My lightsaber just went through that guy, but i didn't hit him. BS". Same argument applies for Morrowind, unfortunately.

I'd love for a remake to Body Harvest.

There isn't even any fan impressions out there, so I'll attempt my own. Giant bugs, and the first level was set in 1916 so I guess Red Dead will have to do.

Everything Atlus made in the PS2 era that doesn't go by the name of Persona.

I'm still waiting for a Nocturne, DDS 1&2 and Raidou Kuzunoha rereleases, Atlus. At the very least put it up on the PS4 already.

KOTOR 1 & 2

You should see what you can do with the graphics on PC.

These are in 1080p:

But given the little KOTOR ingredients scattered into newer Star Wars material, and the confirmation that Bioware will be working on a Star Wars game soon, I suspect we might get a KOTOR remake that is altered to fit the new Disney canon.

Shadow Hearts 1, 2
Suikoden 2 (had a PSP port which only came out in Japan. Never anything huge)
SSX Tricky, 3
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
God Hand
Silent Hill 1, 2, 3

Honestly I can't remember all of my favorite games.

Honestly, I'd settle for just a re-translation / script cleanup. The original game holds up well today, but the translation errors really hamper an otherwise fantastic experience. Thankfully, the most crucial moments of the game have no notable issues with the script (that I can recall anyway).

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber

This game is really fantastic, but like many N64 games, it's hard to go back to on the original hardware. Thankfully the issues typically prevalent with games of its era are lessened due to Ogre Battle 64's reliance on highly detailed sprites, but those map textures... I know Matsuno had little to do with this entry, but I'd kill for a remake on the level of "Let Us Cling Together."

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance & Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

The two Tellius Fire Emblem games have a great ensemble cast, fantastic gameplay and map design, and an engaging, epic story. This would be so great to have as a combined package on a handheld. I'd love to play it on 3DS or NX or WHATEVER ANYTHING PLEASE NINTENDO.

F.E.A.R. - Over ten years old now, but the atmosphere and lighting still (imo) hold up. For its time, it was stunning. I would love to see a remaster of this, as long as they could keep the feel of the visceral, brutal, and high-octane combat - it's definitely my favourite game of all time. Hell, I would even love a remaster of 2. They're like Alien + Aliens to me. ... But let's not talk about F.3.A.R...

Grandia II - I'm not sure if this one really counts, because there's already one currently out on Steam, which I've just started playing. It's titled "Anniversary Edition", but it doesn't feature HD resolutions; it's simply the Dreamcast(?) game ported over. It's one of my favourite (J)RPG's of all time, and something I sank countless hours into as a kid. Obviously the gameplay mechanics are a little simple compared to what's available now, but I would love to see a full remaster of it.

Time Commando - Honestly, this is just another game I played religiously when I was really young... I think it was actually the first PC game I ever really played. In my mind, it was an incredible game; the story had me hooked, and the gameplay was extremely fun, as simple as it was. The multiple settings throughout different time-periods was incredible, so having a new version of that would be intriguing.
