Selling and Trading in your PS4 for a PS4 Pro

Can you not backup to a portable HDD and transfer that way?
And how long would a 500gb console take over Ethernet?

Micromania in france will have a 200€ trade off, during nov 7 to 21, very limited supplies...

Now : can they take damaged stick controllers ? do they need the box ?

I'm going to use a USB drive. I'm just going to copy a few save files. I'll download the apps and digital games later, on the Pro.

If you're a PS+ member, your Saves are in the cloud, so you can just download them later, along with everything else. (I'm not a PS+ member, so I'm using a USB drive.)

There are other ways, too, I'm sure.

Can anyone tell me how I can verify this? I'm only concerned with my saves.

I also just made sure my saves were backed up the cloud and then nuked the drive... earlier this year I switched out the 500GB for a 2TB but used a USB stick for my saves so being able to just use the cloud was nice this time around.

Took like 5 or 6 hours to format the 2TB drive, about 1 hour for the 500GB.

Very easy process though.

If I were to sell my PS4 before I purchase a Pro, how would I transfer over PT to the Pro? Or is that not possible if I don't have the original console to transfer from.

Forgive me for not having the link but I was one of the foolish ones that accidentally deleted P.T. but managed to get it back by changing some ip settings or whatever it was. Did something on the computer and managed to download again. Last I checked it was still working for people so I assume it might work on PS4 Pro as well.

You can either re-download using a third party app on your pc and adjust the proxy settings on your ps4.

Or else you can just back up your ps4 contents onto an external hard drive and transfer from the external onto your Pro system.

If the console you play on is set to primary and you have ps+ it should upload to the cloud at night. Otherwise upload all that manually before you sell it.

This. You can check to see what has been uploaded under online storage in the options menu. Just to be safe, I also put them on a USB stick....and my computer. (I'm paranoid. I've had corrupted saves before)

Backed up my saves to the cloud / check
Backed up my videos and photos to USB / check
Deactivated as primary device / check
Delete user from PS4 / check

Am I missing anything?

Should I reset the PS4 to factory settings to clear the HDD or will putting it in the Pro erase everything for me?

Does anyone else stack their PS3 on top of their PS4? I do this and it seems okay but I want to take better care of my Pro so should I continue doing it?

I know it doesn't seem to be anything officially saying on gamestop's website that they have any sort of trade in special if you trade a regular in for the pro.

Has there been anything leaked or hinted at anywhere that might imply they'll give a good bonus for trading in one towards a pro? It would certainly help for me to make the decision if I wanna pick up my preorder or not.

Decided to do it the easy way and traded in my PS4 at a EBGames here in Canada. Enrolled for their stupid club card online the day before to get a few extra bucks. Got $210 trade in credit towards the Pro so that's certainly easier than selling it locally or something.

Multiple people have all said no one at GS knows. When I went they even told me they found out about the $200 Xbox one S trade in promo two days before it started. It makes sense if GS doesn't trust people to not leak stuff to just keep the employees in the dark until a couple days before. Dumb way to do business, but I get it.

Considering they did that xbox one S deal that you mention, I suppose that bodes well for the possibility of a $200 trade on PS4s then. That's kinda what I'm hoping for, that would be perfect for me.

Ughh....I am holding out hope that a trade in offer is going to happen. I have the Uncharted 4 console and want to trade that in just to offset some of the cost of the pro. I am hoping we get Xbox One S level trade in deal.

Amazon accepted my launch PS4 +extra controller as the bundle (I didn't buy them as a bundle)

So I got $204 for that

PRO is paid off

hmm...might buy a second controller from frys just to get that extra $50.

That's what I am doing. Keeping my PS4 till the pro comes in though. Just put $50 down to preorder it. I hope I still get the $210. Don't want to deal with selling privately.

Does anyone know exactly what Gamestop requires for the trade-in? Is it just the console and the power cable/controller or what?

I spoke to two different Gamestop employees in two different Locations. Both were pretty sure that a deal is coming, when new stock arrives, which can be a month, since every Gamestop in Germany sold all their pre-orders.

Don't know why im so excited for the pro. I guess i Just love new things :D

Also, the microUSB for the controller. If you forget it, they will make you buy one to include in the package.

Are you sure the microUSB for the controller is required? When I traded in my XBOX ONE console last yr all they wanted were the HDMI cable, controller, power cables, and of course the XBOX ONE..so I figured for the PS4 I would be required to bring them the same..I dont even remember my PS4 coming with a microusb cable

So eBay did something strange. Essentially they said I'm guaranteed $250 for my PS4 auction if I use their recommend settings (starting price, shipping, etc) even if it sells for less. They'll give me the remainder in eBay credit.

This seems like a really solid deal for a used PS4.

I put a 2TB drive in my launch PS4. Will Gamestop or Best Buy offer more trade in value or am I better off putting a 500GB back into it?

It came with the micro USB of course. That's the only way to connect a controller the first time (and later charge it). New controllers don't even come with the cable. You only get the micro USB with your original PS4. So yes, most places seem to require that for trade in

Put the 500GB back. Most places need it to be a stock model and won't have a SKU or permission to accept any changes.

Not only is it unlikely they'd give you more for it, they might reject it since it's not the stock drive. I'd just take it out.

On doing a trade in at ebgames/games top

Dino they care if the analog stick nub has a tiny piece of rubber gone?

It's not my fault Sony made faulty controllers.

I traded it in for 150€.

I might get more second hand but it is not worth the hasske for me.

Wouldnt have upgraded without the trade-in programme. Now it seems like a good deal to me. 250€ for a better ps4. Bigger hdd and 2 year warranty again. And a New controller!

Yes they care and it's not their fault either so you will lose the difference.

Warning to those that gameshare: You lose the ability to auto upload the saves on your system if you are game sharing with another person. Make sure to manually upload all of your saves if the PS4 you play on isn't your Primary PS4 due to game sharing with someone else.

No specific link; it was when I was creating my auction. There was a big button that said "use eBay's recommended settings" where you would normally enter pricing information.

Maybe the deal is over because I am not seeing anything about it anywhere, even when creating a listing. I thought I remember seeing something a few weeks or so back about it though.

Has anyone tested the ethernet transfer thing? Any official instructions out there?

I have PT and want to transfer if tot the new Pro hard drive if possible.

Are there any UK users here that have seen any good trade in deals? The only one ive seen is Shopto but i would prefer somewhere that I can just walk in and hand over the console.

Rather than lose the difference ask if you can just swap the new controller that's in the box with your current one so you get full value.

Some GS will let you know that if any part of the system needs to be fixed (in this case the controller) they'll take it in as the entire system needs to be fixed. If that's the case you'd be looking at 1/2 the value if not more.

Rules are shit

I'm not having luck with Craigslist, which I dread anyways.

Hoping my local game store will cut me a decent trade in deal.
